Sarah Watson is the chair of trustees for Carousel, an award-winning arts organization that empowers learning disabled people through art. She is also a visual artist who recently created multimedia works. As chair, her responsibilities include overseeing meetings, signing documents, and representing Carousel. Additionally, Sarah is involved with Oska Bright, an international film and digital festival for learning disabled artists that tours worldwide. She helped found Creative Minds to challenge perceptions of learning disabled art and ensure it is viewed as professional work shown in galleries and theaters rather than just therapy.

Christo and Jeanne-Claude created The Gates, an artwork installed in Central Park from 2005-2005. It consisted of 7,503 saffron-colored fabric panels hung between steel frames. Creating The Gates took over 20 years to gain approval and involved extensive community outreach. When installed, it covered 23 miles of walkways and engaged over 600 workers. Visitors were able to experience the work by walking through the fabric panels and taking away fabric swatches. The interactive nature of walking through The Gates allowed participants to personally interpret and find meaning in the artwork.

The Ministry of Culture in Taiwan plans to establish an Art Bank in 2013 with a budget of NTD 70 million. Experts say the Art Bank should consider the art market and academic standards, display youth artwork in consulates, and establish a sound database. It also needs careful execution based on lessons from past programs. The Art Bank will acquire artwork and rent pieces locally and internationally, aiding selection and installation. Similar programs have operated in Canada since 1972 and Australia since 1980.

Introducing Dramatic Thinking!
The processes and pedagogies for promoting creativity and creative thinking are often described as problem-based and inquiry learning. ‘Generic’ design processes such as ‘design thinking’ (IDEO2011) are also proposed as being somehow common to creative processes. However most of these models arose from graphic design and visual arts traditions, so do these models actually take account of the specific strengths and opportunities for cultivating creativity through drama? What does it mean to engage in a creative process as a dramatist or a dramatic pedagogue? How does a consideration of dramatic form and process shape experience and impact on the visioning and imagining processes? This presentation investigates the concerns and considerations of the creative process in drama processes, play building and writing to propose embracing the concept of ‘dramatic thinking’. This is a version of a presentation shared at the Drama Australia 'Creative Capital' National Symposium, hosted at the Canberra Theatre, Centre, Canberra Sept 29, 2017.

Coventry contemporary art forum (ccaf)

Officials make around 245 decisions per game in football, averaging about one decision every 22 seconds. 45 of these decisions are technical calls related to goal kicks, corners, or throw ins. Another 200 decisions involve physical contact and potential disciplinary actions. Only 35 decisions are visible fouls or restarts of play. Officials are estimated to be correct in their calls 98% of the time, missing around 5 calls per game. Assistant referees make about 50 decisions per game, with 45 being offside calls and only 4 resulting in a flag for offside. Video review technology could help increase accuracy even further.

Why Psychological Safety Matters for Software Teams - ACE 2024 - Ben Linders.pdf
Psychological safety in teams is important; team members must feel safe and able to communicate and collaborate effectively to deliver value. It’s also necessary to build long-lasting teams since things will happen and relationships will be strained.
But, how safe is a team? How can we determine if there are any factors that make the team unsafe or have an impact on the team’s culture?
In this mini-workshop, we’ll play games for psychological safety and team culture utilizing a deck of coaching cards, The Psychological Safety Cards. We will learn how to use gamification to gain a better understanding of what’s going on in teams. Individuals share what they have learned from working in teams, what has impacted the team’s safety and culture, and what has led to positive change.
Different game formats will be played in groups in parallel. Examples are an ice-breaker to get people talking about psychological safety, a constellation where people take positions about aspects of psychological safety in their team or organization, and collaborative card games where people work together to create an environment that fosters psychological safety.

Improving Lives: Supporting Adults with Learning Disabilities conference
- 1. Hello I’m Sarah Watson. I’m the chair of Trustees for Carousel I’m also a visual artist.
- 2. I recently did the visuals and photographs for a multi media show called Creatures of the Revolution that was at London’s South Bank. It will soon go on tour.
- 3. Carousel is • an award-winning arts organisation • that puts learning disabled people in control of their art • and challenges what great art is and who can create it.
- 4. Being the chair of trustees for Carousel involves • Chairing our meetings • Signing accounts and funding applications • Working on the annual report • Going to Arts Council meetings • Doing presentations, for example at the House of Lords
- 5. Let me tell you about a couple of things I am also involved in at Carousel
- 6. • I’m a committee member for Oska Bright • Oska Bright is a three day international learning disability film and digital festival. It happens every two years and then goes on tour round the UK and to other countries.
- 7. I am involved in planning the festival Selecting the films Compering and being a spokesperson Here is a very short trailer we used for the last festival
- 9. I’m also one of the original founders of Creative Minds We started Creative Minds because we had all experienced having people patronise our work – saying things like “It’s such good therapy for you” when we were showing our films in cinemas or exhibiting our work in galleries or performing at a theatre
- 10. We were confused about why our work was seen by arts venues, galleries and cinemas as: • Education work • Outreach work • Community work • And not presented as “professional” work
- 11. • Together we formed the first Creative Minds Steering Committee
- 12. • We organised a conference at the Dome in Brighton to bring together learning disabled artists and performers with people from the wider arts world to talk about this
- 13. • Since then there have been other Creative Minds conferences in Bristol and Ipswich • And we are planning one in Birmingham and helping a team to organise one in Stockholm • We also deliver training and do presentations like today
