The varying line voltages due to use of backup power like IPS or generator and sudden change of weather at night during our sleep results cold related diseases like coughing and fever from high speed of fan. These cold related diseases due to these situations are very common for babies and old people. This project will remove these problems by giving constant fan speed even if the line voltage varies and by changing the fan speed with the change of ambient temperature. This system also has additional features like two different set of remote control system (IR and Bluetooth) embedded together and a 16x2 LCD display which shows various information like output voltage and room temperature.

Various “intelligent” appliances such as cellular phone, air conditioners, home security devices, home theatres, etc., are set to realize the concept of a smart home. They have given rise to a Personal Area Network in home environment, where all these appliances can be interconnected and monitored using a single controller. Home automation involves introducing a degree of computerized or automatic control to certain electrical and electronic systems in a building. These include lighting, temperature control, etc. This project demonstrates a simple home automation system which contains a remote mobile host controller and several client modules (home appliances). The client modules communicate with the host controller through a wireless device such as a Bluetooth enabled mobile phone, in this case, an android based Smart phone.

Abstract: Traditionally electrical appliances in a home are controlled via switches that regulate the electricity to these devices. As the world gets more and more technologically advanced, we find new technology coming in deeper and deeper into our personal lives even at home. Home automation is becoming more and more popular around the world and is becoming a common practice. The process of home automation works by making everything in the house automatically controlled using technology to control and do the jobs that we would normally do manually. Home automation takes care of a lot of different activities in the house. this project we propose a unique System for Home automation utilizing Dual Tone Multi Frequency (DTMF) that is paired with a wireless module to provide seamless wireless control over many devices in a house. This user console has many keys, each corresponding to the device that needs to be activated. The encoder encodes the user choice and sends via a FM transmitter. The FM receiver receives the modulated signal and demodulates it and the user choice is determined by the DTMF decoder. Based upon this the required appliance is triggered. Dtmf access the control unit, the user should send an authentication code (DTMF) along with their quire/desired function/action to his/her home control system via Global System for Mobile communication (GSM). Upon being properly authenticated, the cell phone-based interface at home (control unit) would relay the commands to a microcontroller that would perform the required function/action, and return a function completion code that would be sent to the source of the original command (user’s cell phone).

The essential steps followed in programming the email platform
would be as follows –
Select Rules & Alert options
Activate New Rule appearing under the action
Select the Conditions needed
Choose the Specific Word in the Subject category and write
the words needed (For instance if we want to switch on air
conditioner we can type SWITCH ON AC and move it to
the specific folder)
Activate Start Application option
9. B.2.Logic to Control appliances through Email
• File will be saved in PC in (.ASM) format.
• File Contains instructions to send the code for switching
ON/OFF the appliances. After that system receive the email in
order to switch ON/OFF the appliances in the flat.
• The user sends an email from anywhere through internet to the
email-id of the resident. The text of the email has the words
“SWITCH ON APPLIANCES”.
• Receiving the email the server opens it and scans for the
desired words when it finds the words “SWITCH ON AC”.
