Over centuries, Mexico has received immigrants from Europe, the Americas, and sometimes Asia, with millions of their descendants still living and working in Mexico today. Mexico's immigration policy was previously regulated by a 1974 law, but a new, more liberal Migration Law was signed in 2011. In 2015, Mexico also implemented a Temporary Migrant Regularization Program to allow foreigners residing in Mexico without proper documentation to regularize their status due to various circumstances. Major immigrant groups in Mexico come from the United States, Argentina, Central America, Britain, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Russia, Spain, other European nations, Arab countries, and East/Southeast Asia.
