There are various theories on love and attachment that highlight just how complicated romantic relationships are. Even with their complexities, it is important for us to understand adult attachment and types of love so we may assist those we may serve in making sense of their relationships and helping them build and maintain long and satisfying partnerships. Rhetoric surrounds us in our everyday lives. On a daily basis, we encounter rhetoric through multiple avenues,
through the arguments we create and even through the advertisements we encounter that try to sell us different
products. Thinking about how we encounter rhetoric helps us understand the world around us, and it can even
sometimes mean that we can engage it to understand a particular culture or way of thinking. Rhetoric is usually
associated with creating an argument, but it can also even mean constructing yourself into the world, whether
that is through the physical act of writing or even through how we dress and act. Understanding rhetoric is
hugely important in helping us both break down any kind of writing to fully understand what is being said.
Equally important, being aware of rhetoric and the different rhetorical moves we can make helps us to create
our own texts as well.
Part of what we will do with this assignment is engage with how rhetoric actually works by fully breaking down
the rhetorical situation of an image. We will be discussing what the rhetorical situation is in class, but
basically, it is a method of analysis where rhetoric is broken down into four different constituents: audience,
rhetor, constraints, and exigence. Understanding all four of those constituents can better help us understand
the rhetoric behind a situation, a paper, and even an image.
For this assignment, what you’ll do is select an image and analyze it using the rhetorical situation lens. This
image can be up to your choosing, but some options can include a photograph, a painting, an advertisement
(these are particularly useful in this assignment), a meme, or even a particular style of clothing or someone’s
particular style choice. (Although I’d be open to using videos as well, take some caution that this might be too
difficult to tackle in a four to five page paper). Using this image, the writer will make some sort of argument
about the rhetoric they see surrounding the image. I will approve your selections, and you will need to
submit your selection of the image you want to analyze on USA Online by Wednesday, February
24.
Invention and Drafting
In order to put this paper together, you will have to select an image that you think warrants analysis. Select the
image and try to pick apart what you see happening. This could range from the colors of the image to the
activities you see happening in the image to even the words that are on the image. As you are analyzing, it may
be helpful to ask yourself these questions:
1. Who is the audience for this image? What is used in the image to work to persuade or grab the attention
of the audience?

One fundamental problem in sentiment analysis is categorization of sentiment polarity. Given a piece of written text, the problem is to categorize the text into one specific sentiment polarity, positive or negative (or neutral). Based on the scope of the text, there are three distinctions of sentiment polarity categorization, namely the document level, the sentence level, and the entity and aspect level. Consider a review “I like multimedia features but the battery life sucks.†This sentence has a mixed emotion. The emotion regarding multimedia is positive whereas that regarding battery life is negative. Here is a list of things that you should look for in your final paper:
1. You have a single, main point (thesis statement), and all sentences in your paper directly relate to and support your thesis statement.
2. Your main point is an original, clearly defined claim and is consistent with current research on the subject selected.
3. Your word choice and language level show that you have a formal, academic, university-level audience in mind.
4. You support your initial claim with the university-level evidence you have gathered during your research.

For this assessment, identify a topic focused on one aspect of a behavior. Then research and write a paper that describes the current understanding of motivation related to the behavior you identified and discusses applications of research to social policies associated with that behavior.

Here is a list of things that you should look for in your final paper:
1. You have a single, main point (thesis statement), and all sentences in your paper directly relate to and support your thesis statement.
2. Your main point is an original, clearly defined claim and is consistent with current research on the subject selected.
3. Your word choice and language level show that you have a formal, academic, university-level audience in mind.
4. You support your initial claim with the university-level evidence you have gathered during your research.

12. You correctly cite every claim that is not your own or common knowledge and include all necessary information. If the item cited contains quotes, you correctly use a page or paragraph number.

We shall start out from an actual economic fact. The worker becomes poorer the more wealth he produces, the more his production increases in power and extent. The worker becomes an ever cheaper commodity the more commodities he produces. The devaluation of the human world grows in direct proportion to the increase in value of the world of things. Labour not only produces commodities; it also produces itself and the workers as a commodity and it does so in the same proportion in which it produces commodities in general.
This fact simply means that the object that labour produces, its product, stands opposed to it as something alien, as a power independent of the producer …. The realization of labour is its objectification. In the sphere of political economy, this realization of labour appears as a loss of reality for the worker, objectification as loss of and bondage to the object, and appropriation as estrangement, as alienation.
So much does the realization of labour appear as loss of reality that the worker loses his reality to the point of dying of starvation. So much does objectification appear as loss of the object that the worker is robbed of the objects he needs most not only for life but also for work. Work itself becomes an object which he can only obtain through an enormous effort and with spasmodic interruptions. So much does the appropriation of the object appear as estrangement that the more objects the worker produces the fewer can he possess and the more he falls under the domination of his product, of capital ….

Up to now, we have considered the estrangement, the alienation of the worker, only from one aspect—i.e., the worker's relationship to the products of his labour. But estrangement manifests itself not only in the result, but also in the act of production, within the activity of production itself. After all, the product is simply the resume of the activity, of the production. So if the product of labour is alienation, production itself must be active alienation, the alienation of activity, the activity of alienation. The estrangement of the object of labour merely summarizes the estrangement, the alienation in the activity of labour itself.
What constitutes the alienation of labour?
Firstly, the fact that labour is external to the worker—i.e., does not belong to his essential being; that he, therefore, does not confirm himself in his work, but denies himself, feels miserable and not happy, does not develop free mental and physical energy, but mortifies his flesh and ruins his mind. Hence, the worker feels himself only when he is not working; when he is working, he does not feel himself. His labour is, therefore, not voluntary but forced, it is forced labour. Two areas of reasoning evolved from this time, inductive and deductive. For example, Galileo, using mathematics and observation, explained the laws of the physical world through deductive reasoning. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too.
