The film Ill Manors was produced on a very low budget of around £100,000 by first-time director Ben Drew. It was independently produced through Microwave Productions and their micro-budget scheme. Due to the small budget, the cast was not very well known. The film was shot on location in gritty areas around London to authentically portray the environment. The release was delayed by almost a year due to Drew's music touring schedule. The film received a wide cinema release in the UK and Ireland in June 2012 and was also screened at film festivals, with the DVD containing additional footage released that October.
