As Scrum’s popularity continues to grow, so do associated myths and misunderstandings. Through this presentation, AxisAgile and Scrum Australia Director Ilan debunked many of the common misinterpretations of the world’s most popular Agile Framework.
Agile Defense - Changing the Way Wars Are Fought, Logistics Delivered, and Ho...JJ Sutherland
JJ Sutherland, Chief Content Officer of Scrum Inc., presents Agile Defense.
In 2010 the Defense Acquisitions Act made Agile software development the law of the land for Defense Contractors. But both the DoD and the contractor community are struggling to figure out how to make it work in an ossified system that often requires traditional waterfall reporting.
And, in 2007 Gen. David Petraeus reversed the course of the Iraq war by using small, cross-functional teams to break the back of Al Qaeda in Iraq. He did this by pushing decisions down to the platoon and even to the squad level on the streets of Baghdad.
Using concrete, real world examples JJ will show how Scrum is re-shaping the military, military procurement, and military contractors.

Practicing Scrum with Visual Studio 2010 and TFS 2010 - TechEd Middle East 2...Jose Luis Soria
Scrum is maybe the most exciting thing that has happened to the software development world over the last years. Its empirical approach, strikingly changes the way people face projects, and shifts the focus into improving upon development practices, while continuously delivering valuable software increments. Combined with the proper tools and practices, teams can dramatically improve their performance and fulfill customer expectations. This session makes a tour around the Scrum framework, showing how Scrum Teams work in practice, and going into details about how Visual Studio and Team Foundation Server can support and facilitate a great amount of the activities carried out by these teams in their quest for delivering value.

The adoption of digitalization has profoundly impacted the different aspects of business operations, especially marketing. Thanks to digitally-focused marketing campaigns, companies can boost their marketing strategies in a faster and more simplified manner. In theory, this makes it more convenient for them to respond to changes in unpredictable markets effectively.
However, transforming internal dot-com marketing operations in a scaled agile way has been truly challenging. Most enterprises are blocked from effectively enabling digital campaign and efficient acquisitions and conversions through a timely cross functional collaboration for delivery planning and execution among creative designers, content creators, IT development/QA, analytics, and publishing. Please join us for a case study review, sharing how a Silicon Valley S/W market leader has transformed their dot-com digital marketing operations using scaled agile transformation.

Creating a book is not a simple project however applying Agile principles to the process might make it much more easier to manage and give you better results. During the workshop we will create a children's book by using Scrum techniques. You will stay awake as workshop requires your active participation, gives ability to have fun and engage your creativity. I have done interactive workshops on IPMA congreses, Agile events, at company offices and business schools and these are always perceived very well, as there are always some people who prefer "learning by doing".

How MS Does Devops - DevOps Days Berlin 2018tspascoal
This is NOT a session about MS DevOps tools. This is the story of how the VSTS team transformed from shipping an on-premise server product every couple of years, to shipping a cloud service multiple times a day. In the process, almost everything about how this team of 800 people work has changed. We had to figure out how to do agile at scale, how to transform into a microservice cloud architecture, complete restructure of teams and roles, threw out a suite of 10’s of thousands of tests and started over, went from almost 0 telemetry, to 8+TB/day and figuring out to do anything meaningful with all that data. Many mistakes were made along the way, and lessons learned that I’ll be sharing
In this slides deck, Avidan Hetzroni explains the basic concepts behind the Scrum Framework values and principles and how Scrum bind together the events, roles, and artifacts to govern the relationships and interaction between them.
Do we really need to scale and if the answer is yes, then what? Do we focus on structure or delivery? In this presentation, Naveen helps us understand how LeSS helps in scaling when it is needed, while remaining true to scrum teams delivering shippable product increments at the end of every sprint.

Are You Building the Right Thing? - Janet G @ CMBAgileConf 2016ColomboCampsCommunity
In Agile Development, we focus on building in quality and preventing defects, rather than finding defects at the tail-end of a development cycle. Focusing our testing efforts on the things customers care about most is key. In this presentation, Janet explains how Testers and Agile teams can ensure they are building the right thing.
Agile Testing: Learning Journeys for the Whole Team - Janet G @ CMBAgileConf ...ColomboCampsCommunity
When Agile Development first gained popularity, Agile meant collocated teams, including testers, programmers, analysts, and customers who were expected to perform many functions. As Agile methods have spread and expanded, many organizations with globally-distributed teams are facing challenges with their Agile deployment.
Janet shares her experiences and lessons learned that show how testing activities can help develop open communication, and share data and information within a team or across continents. These ideas can help create the common understanding for what the team is building so the team can work together – with fun.

It's 2015 and everyone claims to provide best-in-class UX services to customers. This might make UX look as if it's at peak maturity, but in reality we know how frustrating it can be to build and sustain a good culture of UX. Culture creation is a lengthy and a challenging process. Further, when that involves a misinterpreted domain and heavy design thinking, things can be even more complicated. In this presentation, Hasith will explore some useful psychological aspects that may help you in establishing a winning UX culture in an organization.

Delight is a pivotal element in successful products. In my experience, both traditional approaches to product development as well as modern disciplines such Agile or Lean UX, may consume a fair bit of time in the effort of creating delight. Firstly, in this talk, I will discuss what makes these approaches time consuming and where the bottlenecks exist. I will then look at some innovative ways in which you can use UX as a tool to delight your users, using the shortest possible time.
UX is not UI. Many people see UX as a user interface designer's domian but not many people realise that its roots lie far beyond user interface. The speaker in this presentation explains UX in a simple manner and takes you through UX activities that you should be doing in a software project. Further, he expands on how Lean UX can help in converting your business idea into a great product

Quality Assurance is a common source of confusion in agile development. What is ‘quality’ and how do we ‘assure’ it? There’s more to it than just putting testers on the team. How do we know that we’re even building the right product? How do we avoid building up technical debt? When is it right to sacrifice quality? What is the right level of test coverage? In this presentation, Henrik looks at some common problems, patterns and misconceptions about agile quality assurance

Graspan: A Big Data System for Big Code AnalysisAftab Hussain
We built a disk-based parallel graph system, Graspan, that uses a novel edge-pair centric computation model to compute dynamic transitive closures on very large program graphs.
We implement context-sensitive pointer/alias and dataflow analyses on Graspan. An evaluation of these analyses on large codebases such as Linux shows that their Graspan implementations scale to millions of lines of code and are much simpler than their original implementations.
These analyses were used to augment the existing checkers; these augmented checkers found 132 new NULL pointer bugs and 1308 unnecessary NULL tests in Linux 4.4.0-rc5, PostgreSQL 8.3.9, and Apache httpd 2.2.18.

In the ever-evolving landscape of technology, enterprise software development is undergoing a significant transformation. Traditional coding methods are being challenged by innovative no-code solutions, which promise to streamline and democratize the software development process.
This shift is particularly impactful for enterprises, which require robust, scalable, and efficient software to manage their operations. In this article, we will explore the various facets of enterprise software development with no-code solutions, examining their benefits, challenges, and the future potential they hold.
First Steps with Globus Compute Multi-User EndpointsGlobus
In this presentation we will share our experiences around getting started with the Globus Compute multi-user endpoint. Working with the Pharmacology group at the University of Auckland, we have previously written an application using Globus Compute that can offload computationally expensive steps in the researcher's workflows, which they wish to manage from their familiar Windows environments, onto the NeSI (New Zealand eScience Infrastructure) cluster. Some of the challenges we have encountered were that each researcher had to set up and manage their own single-user globus compute endpoint and that the workloads had varying resource requirements (CPUs, memory and wall time) between different runs. We hope that the multi-user endpoint will help to address these challenges and share an update on our progress here.
