Technology is altering education so we must: Improve and implement technology tools in our classrooms Integrate technology in lessons Through the use of technology tools enhance our curriculum to insure students are developing critical thinking skills Improve assessments and data to meet 21st century learning
4. Why do we need a technology plan? Prepare students academically and a competitive workforce. Allow students to efficiently communicate 24 hours/7days a week. Offer professional development classes to assist personnel with the knowledge needed to implement goals. List appropriate goals to achieve 21st century learning.

Improve professional education to all qualifying staff to insure staff is competent in implementing technology tools in learning.

Administrative and Support Services Support assessment and planning through the use of technology Ensure 100% administrative participation and training in appropriate, current and new software programs available. Increase communication throughout the entire community through the use of technology
10. Infrastructure for Technology Ensure an established and vigorous infrastructure for technology use for the entire district. Develop an infrastructure system that is sustainable and accessible with appropriate funding. Apply for appropriate funding through E-Rate and state funds.

Staff is required to complete a STaR Chart every year to ensure the improvement of technology readiness Implement technology use in lessons Attend required professional development classes Submit Technology TECH Fusion submission per semester showing how students are applying technology capability. Model and teach students rules of appropriate technology tools use. Always, always promote your students learning styles.

Infuse higher level thinking with technology and quality instruction to ensure engaging learning experiences for all teachers and students.Support assessment and planning through the use of technology by providing adequate technology to support all district planning and assessment systems. Educate all students and teachers in responsible technology use.Ensure educator professional development is on-going, high quality, based on the National Educational Technology Standards (NETS), and increasing in rigor so that students learning and 21st century skills are increased.Ensure 100% administrative participation in appropriate, current and new software programs. Provide leadership to leverage technology for the improvement of teaching and learning in every classroom daily. Ensure a stable and robust infrastructure for technology use.
IrvingISD has submitted their Long Range Plan for 2010-1013 with total technology expenditures of $45,434,774.00 and funds received for the current year from Title II totaling to $74,515.00.
Provide staff development opportunities based on the NETS to integrate technology into content-specific instruction resulting in higher levels of thinking. Evidence to support this goal are increasing a number of collaborative opportunities in Blackboard and other online tools, links to just-in-time training, district trainers will use a variety of 21st century tools such as blogs, wikis, and other web 2.0 tools in their trainings.
The district assesses different data through discussions made by campus committees, central departments, District Instructional Technology Committee, parents, and community representatives. These contributions provide information about the current and future technology needs of the district. Hardware and telecommunication networks will be monitored through networking tools, hardware and software inventories, repair data and other technical support metrics. Technology Committee will meet at least once a year to review progress and make any necessary improvements needed.
