Aha!
Problem:
Stakeholder would be served by a more
meaningful way of connecting with others in
his field, and potential clients in need of his
services.
50 ideas! The first 10…
• Develop a great website that highlights all areas of stakeholders
talent- producing, engineering, mixing, mastering, studio design,
consulting, etc.
• Link the website to other related websites
• Utilize facebook, linkedIn and other social media
• Tweet as a hook into a blog and website
• Blog about discoveries and insights
• Write a book
• Check Craig’s list for gigs
• Check other music business job boards
• Post a Craig’s list “notice of availability” with link to website/blog
• Post the same on other job boards
The next 10…
• Have a regular weekly hang out date with friends/people in the biz
• Call at least 1 person in the business a day
• Go to yoga classes (to be with people)
• Meditate (to set the zone tone)

work

• Write and play music with young people to gain insight and
inspiration

• Play in an established band
• Sing in a chorus for fun and a sense of being a part of a large
ensemble
And the next…
• Volunteer at a local school or center once a week (to generate
positive energy)
• Have a regular weekly (music biz) product brainstorming session
with a friend
• Do a monthly music industry survey- asking one essential question
related to the field that may generate new ideas
• Beta test audio products, connect with people in established
companies and other beta testers
• Form an audio engineer support group
• Travel and visit every interesting studio, connect with their owners
• Connect with (write, call or visit) all remaining record companies
• Form your own record company
• Find an investor and open an audio production facility
• Find an investor and software engineer to produce audio products
10 more…
• Find related work at an educational institution
• Find related work at an audio manufacturing company
• Tour the world, be inspired, come up with new ideas
• Tour the world, observe how music is appreciated, recorded and
shared elsewhere
• Tour the world and record music from places never heard before
• Develop an idea for a music related product that has the potential
to make lots of money so stakeholder is no longer dependent on
music business income.
• Design and create new audio equipment
• Open a tech support hotline for musicians/producers/etc.
• Work with musicians to come up with solutions for common issues
• Observe musicians, watching for habits that may generate new
ideas
Plus another 10=50 ideas!
• Observe the life and flow of a recording studio, watching for habits
that may generate new ideas
• Create music for animals

• Create music for healing cancer
• Consult restaurants and other businesses in need of good music
• Broaden definition of “potential clients in need of his services”
• Find talent and develop, make and produce records
• Instead of looking for work, create it
• Instead of thinking of work as work, think of it as PLAY
• Notice that every interaction with every person has the potential to
inspire and generate ideas, connection and meaning.
First of the chosen 3…
• Develop a great website that highlights all areas
of stakeholders talent- producing, engineering,
mixing, mastering, studio design, consulting, etc.
This is the first of the three highlighted choices—because a a
good website is simply an essential tool in todays world---
especially if you’re a freelance musician/audio engineer. This
will help to enable potential clients to locate, learn more about
and connect with the stakeholder, possibly leading toward
hiring him and utilizing his services. It will grant him a global
presence, serve as a launching pad for sharing ideas through
blogs and as a communication device for surveys and other
threads that may help to generate ideas, energy and work/play.
#2:
• Have a regular weekly hang out date with
friends/people in the biz
This is the second highlighted choice because it connects
the stakeholder to people on a regular basis, helping to
ensure he doesn’t feel isolated. It would give him the
chance to “talk shop”, stay engaged in an exchange of
ideas and energy, develop relationships that could lead
toward collaboration, have a group of peers that he trusts,
respects and appreciates. It also has the potential to be
fun, bringing about a spirit of play and delight, creating
fertile ground for inspiration and ideas to seed.
And last but not least…#3:
• Develop an idea for a music related product that
has the potential to make lots of money so
stakeholder is no longer dependent on music
business income.
This is the third highlighted choice because it expands beyond
the limitations of the usual worker models—opening up a vast
creative field with no sense of employee limitations. Allowing
for an independent foundation from which to continue to
spring other creative ideas forth that both serve and generate,
allowing for an energetic and financial flow to be tapped and
obtained.
