 Protection of the environment is a serious issue that confronts business managers and
decision makers.
 Pollution changes the physical, chemical, and biological characteristics of air, land and
water.
 Pollution harms human life and the life of other species.
 Protection of the environment is directly related to the control of pollution.
 Wastes contain pollutants which are the materials of chemicals that have been discarded
during the process ofproductionor consumption.
 Pollution is caused by the pollutants which are released in to the environment beyond
its assimilation capacity.
 Many business enterprises have been responsible for causing air,water,land and noise
pollution.
 Air pollution is the result of a combination of factors which lowers the quality of air.
 Water becomes polluted primarily from chemical and waste dumping.

 Dumping of toxic wastes on land causes land pollution, which makes land unfit for
cultivation.
 Noise caused by the running of factories and vehicles is not merely a source of
annoyance, but is also a serious health hazard.
.
Many business activities such as production ,distribution, transport, storage ,consumption of
goods and services are known to be the most critical sources of environmental pollution
problems .
To generate an idea about the conceptpollution and enable them to classify the various causes
of pollution through brain storming, general discussionand group discussion.
Students should have an idea about the conceptenvironmental pollution.
 Usual class room aids like blackboard and chalk.
 Chart showing the various causes of pollution.
 Activity sheet.

PHASE I : INTRODUCTORY PHASE
Activity (General Discussion)
After the routine class room practices teacher showed some pictures on
harmful things happening in the environment. Teacher asks students how are
these caused.
Thus teacher introduced the concept environmental pollution.
Students responded that ,pollution
CLASS ROOM INTERACTION PROCEDURE/ACTIVITY PUPIL’SRESPONSE
Students are actively participated in the group
discussion.
PHASE II: DEVELOPMENTAL STAGE
Activity: (Brain storming)
Teacher asks students to think about the types of pollution.
After thinking, teacher points out randomly each one to say their
findings.
Activity :(Group Discussion)
Teacher divides the class in to groups and asks the students
to discuss about the various causes of pollution and how the each type of
pollution is caused.
Students start thinking.
Students mentioned the types of pollution.
Students actively participated in the
discussion.
After the discussion , teacher asks students to present the points discussed
before the class.
Concept to be consolidated
• The type of pollution are air pollution ,water
pollution , land pollution and noise pollution.
• Air pollution is caused by carbon monoxide
emitted by automobiles.
• Water becomes polluted by chemical and
waste dumping.
• Dumping of toxic waste causes land pollution.
• Noise caused by running factories and vehicles
causes noise pollution.
Phase 3: Concluding activity
Teacher exhibits a chart showing the causes of pollution and summarized all
the topics discussed in the class and concluded the lesson.

Teacher asks the students to prepare an assignment on causes of the

Name of the Teacher : AFIYA NAZEER Standard : XI Name of the School : G.H.S.S,ATTINGAL Strength : 60 Subject : Business Studies Age : 17years Unit : Social responsibility of business and business ethics Duration : 45 minutes Topic : Causes of pollution Date : 11/06/2015 Content Outline Causes of pollution Content Analysis Terms Facts Environmental protection , man made resources ,air pollution, water pollution, land pollution, noise pollution  Protection of the environment is a serious issue that confronts business managers and decision makers.  Pollution changes the physical, chemical, and biological characteristics of air, land and water.  Pollution harms human life and the life of other species.  Protection of the environment is directly related to the control of pollution.  Wastes contain pollutants which are the materials of chemicals that have been discarded during the process ofproductionor consumption.  Pollution is caused by the pollutants which are released in to the environment beyond its assimilation capacity.  Many business enterprises have been responsible for causing air,water,land and noise pollution.  Air pollution is the result of a combination of factors which lowers the quality of air.  Water becomes polluted primarily from chemical and waste dumping. Concept Curricular objectives Pre- requisites Teaching learning resources Teaching learning strategies  Dumping of toxic wastes on land causes land pollution, which makes land unfit for cultivation.  Noise caused by the running of factories and vehicles is not merely a source of annoyance, but is also a serious health hazard. . Many business activities such as production ,distribution, transport, storage ,consumption of goods and services are known to be the most critical sources of environmental pollution problems . To generate an idea about the conceptpollution and enable them to classify the various causes of pollution through brain storming, general discussionand group discussion.   • 4. PHASE I : INTRODUCTORY PHASE Activity (General Discussion) After the routine class room practices teacher showed some pictures on harmful things happening in the environment. Teacher asks students how are these caused. Thus teacher introduced the concept environmental pollution. Students responded that ,pollution CLASS ROOM INTERACTION PROCEDURE/ACTIVITY PUPIL’SRESPONSE

  • 6. PHASE II: DEVELOPMENTAL STAGE Activity: (Brain storming) Teacher asks students to think about the types of pollution. After thinking, teacher points out randomly each one to say their findings. Activity :(Group Discussion) Teacher divides the class in to groups and asks the students to discuss about the various causes of pollution and how the each type of pollution is caused. Students start thinking. Students mentioned the types of pollution. Students actively participated in the discussion.
  • 7. After the discussion , teacher asks students to present the points discussed before the class. Concept to be consolidated • The type of pollution are air pollution ,water pollution , land pollution and noise pollution. • Air pollution is caused by carbon monoxide emitted by automobiles. • Water becomes polluted by chemical and waste dumping. • Dumping of toxic waste causes land pollution. • Noise caused by running factories and vehicles causes noise pollution.
  • 8. Phase 3: Concluding activity Teacher exhibits a chart showing the causes of pollution and summarized all the topics discussed in the class and concluded the lesson. Review Questions  What do you mean by pollution?  Explain the causes of pollution? Follow up Activity Teacher asks the students to prepare an assignment on causes of the various types of pollution.
