The Indian Contract Act 1872 is an act of the Parliament of India to govern the law of contracts in India. It determines the circumstances in which promises made between parties are legally binding. It lays down provisions regarding offer, acceptance, consideration, capacity of parties, free consent, legality of object and discharge of contracts.
