FIBERS
Hair-like materials which are similar to pieces of
thread
 Natural fibers: consists of animal and plant fibers. They are “staples” or
small broken lengths of fiber. They are classified on the basis of their
origin, for example: cotton origins from a seed whereas hemp, jute, linen
and ramie originate from trees/plants and silk originates from the silk
worm which is the only natural fiber in the form of a filament, etc.
 Man-made fibers: consists of synthetic as well as regenerated filaments
of fibers. For example: polyester, viscose, rayon, nylon, acetate, acrylic,
lyocell, spandex, lycra, etc.
