Hungarian traditions include the Busó walk where people wear traditional clothes and chase away winter at carnival time, burning the Kisze doll when winter ends and spring comes, men sprinkling women with water on Easter Monday in exchange for Easter eggs, women dyeing and painting Easter eggs, celebrating the Reaper Holiday when the harvest is finished, giving a Reaper wreath as a present to the land owner, making Luca's chairs on Luca's Day which is a day of witches on December 13th, performing plays about the birth of Jesus Christ, decorating the Christmas tree with Szaloncukor which is marzipan covered in chocolate, and eating Bejgli, a traditional Hungarian Christmas cake filled

2. Busó walk
The busó people wear traditional clothes at
carneval time. According to tradition they chase
away the winter.

3. Kisze doll
The Kisze doll is burnt when winter is over and
spring is coming.

4. Sprinkle on easter monday
The men sprinkle the women on easter Monday
morning. The women give men easter eggs.

5. Easter egg
Women dye and paint easter eggs

6. Reaper Holiday
It is a holiday when the harvest is being
finished.

Traditionally, it was given to the land owner as a present

It is on Luca’s day. That day is a day of witches.
Chairs are made by people at that time. Luca’s

The people tell Jesus Christ’s birth story.

10. Szaloncukor (Xmas candy)
Some marzipan covered with chocolate. We use it
for decorating the Xmas tree.

11. Bejgli
It is a traditional Hungarian cake that we eat at
Christmas. It is filled with nut or poppy seeds.
