Jay V. Sutaria founded Bhookh Relief Foundation and Bhookh.com in 2003 to provide staple food to chronically hungry Indians using the internet. Donors could click daily on ads to sponsor food, which was distributed by the UN World Food Programme. It was India's first free charity NGO. Sutaria was inspired to make a difference and launch the project on his friend Nawang's 28th birthday. Bhookh.com has received support from various websites and helped many people fight hunger with simple, free donations.
