Starbucks has an extensive socialization process for new employees that involves three phases: pre-arrival, encounter, and metamorphosis. The past several months have been hectic for the steering teams at AMEC and The Conclave ahead of the AMEC European Summit in Madrid, 5th - 7th June. We've been trying to pull together a cohesive and cogent set of definitions for social media measurement.
It's gone very well so far I think, so well in fact that we're now left training our attention on perhaps the biggest question of them all: What's the value to my organization of doing all this stuff?
It's a tricky question once you've found all the good reason to ignore much of the smattering splattering the web, but one I believe can be approached effectively with diligence and professionalism. The slidestack here is my contribution to the debate, and I hope it motivates you to contribute your points of view.

- 2. Yes . I believe that Starbucks goes to a extreme process Concept of Socialization: In simple words, socialization is the process of adaptation. Starbucks amazing success mostly depend on the extreme socialization process. More than 20000 employees has completed formal training classes during their first six weeks . The socialization process involves the following three phases: 1. Pre-arrival 2. Encounter 3. Metamorphosis
- 4. Continued 1. Pre-arrival: The pre-arrival phase explicitly recognizes that all the new recruits arrives the Starbucks with a set of values, attitudes, expectations and learning. In other words, pre-arrival refers to all the learning that occurs before a new member joins the Starbucks. 2. Encounter: Into Starbucks, the new member enters the encounter stage. The role playing starts here. The member starts comparing expectations, the image of the Starbucks which he had formed during pre-arrival phase with reality. If expectations and reality concur the encounter is smooth. 3. Metamorphosis: In this stage, the member masters the skills required to adjust with the Starbucks’s norms and values. This is a stage going through changes. Hence, this is called metamorphosis stage. This is, of course, a voluntary process and a conscious decision which enables the new member to become compatible with the Starbucks. This signals the completion of socialization process.
