- 2. Remember that Spanish words might be masculine or feminine and there is a rule of concordance for the article that may accompany the noun in the sentence. Example: • Me duele el estómago. -> My stomach hurts. • A Miguel lo golpearon en la cabeza cuando lo asaltaron. -> Miguel was hit in the head when he was assaulted. Body parts that come in pairs or groups such as kidneys, eyes, legs, toes, and teeth are commonly expressed in plural, thus the article and the adjective should reflect that too. Example: Cabello (hair) is a masculine and singular noun: • ¿De qué color es tu cabello? -> What color is your hair? • Mi cabello es castaño. -> My hair is brown. • Y tú, ¿eres rubia natural o te lo tiñes? -> And you, are you a natural blonde or do you dye it? • El champú con extracto de ginseng previene la caída del cabello. -> Ginseng extract shampoo prevents hair loss. The word Manos (hands) is feminine and plural: • La artritis afecta comúnmente a las articulaciones de las manos. -> Arthritis commonly affects the joints of the hands. • ¡Este hombre tiene manos de pianista! -> This man has the hands of a pianist! • José, siento mucho no poder ayudarte, estoy atado de manos. -> José, I am sorry I can´t help you, my hands are tied. • Mariana posee manos mágicas, es una excelente masajista. -> Mariana has magic hands, she is an excellent masseuse.
