 Assess the claims made by some sociologist that human behavior results from
socialization
It is said by sociologist that the human behavior is determined from socialization.
Socialization is the process by which children and adults learn from others
(www.soc.ucsb.edu). This simply means that we start to learn from each other from the day
we are born in our early life. Sociologist believes that the evolution of society is ruled under
some invariable laws. This simply means that the behavior of humans is ruled under
principles of cause and effects. With this said it brings us to how an individual is shaped
and/or influenced.
Natural socialization occurs when infants and youngsters explore, play and discover the
social world around them. This socialization is very important to their development as
children and young individuals. Between the ages of 0-10, a child is learning and is adjusting
to their society. But between age 10 and older it is going to be very hard to change a
youngster from the way they were grown. This is because they already went through the
learning stage. Like Feral a child who are human children who has lived isolated from
human contact from a very young age, has no experience of human care or social behavior
of human language. If feral child do not learn to adapt between ages 0-10, they won’t be able
to carry them to the Anticipatory stage.
The Anticipatory stage is the process, facilitated by social interactions, in which nongroup-members learn to take on the values and standards of groups interact competently
once they have been accepted by it (en.wikipedia.org). This process will attempt to change
the attitude and behavior of feral children to normal societal behavior. During this process
of attempting, the sociologist will try to bend the children mind into doing something more
humanly like planning for the future, social relationships, etc. in order for the sociologist to
know is study has been completed or in the process, the feral children will look more
humanly active as how a fully developed human child would have grown under human care
and protection.
Definition: Resocialization is the process by which existing social roles are radically altered or
replaced. Roles such as spouse, parent, widow, prison inmate, and employee, for example, all
involve a kind of resocialization. Erving Goffman defined resocialization as a process of tearing
down and rebuilding an individual’s role and socially constructed sense of self.

In sociology, reverse socialization is the process in which a younger person teaches an
older person. Reverse socialization occurs in many different instances, especially with
new technology. An example of reverse socialization is a young person teach an older
person how to use social media.
