HPE InfoSight for Servers:
Provides automatic collection and analysis of the sensor
and telemetry data from AHS to derive insights from the
behaviors of the install base to provide recommendations to
resolve problems and improve performance
AHS is an essential component of iLO that helps maximize
system uptime and health. AHS monitors and logs
changes at the system level, enabling customers to have
accurate information to assist in diagnosing problems and
delivering rapid resolution, should system issues occur.
HPE Active Health System provides:
Consolidation of existing diagnostic tools into one place
Always on, continuous monitoring for increased stability
and shorter downtime
Rich configuration history
Health and service alerts
AHS does not collect any personally identifiable information
or network security-related information, for example,
location, usernames, passwords, or operational data.
Examples of data that are collected, include:
Server model number
Serial number
Processor model and speed
Storage capacity and speed
Memory capacity and speed
Firmware/BIOS
In addition to the AHS data, HPE InfoSight for Servers
checks the health state of each server every 10
minutes. This is known as the heartbeat check. During the
heartbeat check, HPE InfoSight for Servers collects the
Serial Number, Product ID, Aggregated Health Status,
and Power Status (on/off) for each server.
All data collected is managed according to the Hewlett
Packard Enterprise Data Privacy policy

Hello,
Welcome to RE-imagine
My name is Walter Van Hoolst and I work at HPE as a Technology Architect focusing on Nimble Storage.
During this presentation I will give you some insights how HPE uses Artificial Intelligence in the datacenter. Therefor I will give you a view on how Nimble Storage used Artificial Intelligence in their support organization and beyond.
HPE InfoSight for Servers has 3 major components:
#1. InfoSight for Servers
- With InfoSight for Servers, HPE is combining the cloud-based machine learning of InfoSight with the health and performance monitoring of Active Health System (AHS) and iLO to optimize performance and predict and prevent problems on your Gen10, Gen9, and Gen8 ProLiant, Synergy, and Apollo servers.
#2. AHS (Active Health System)
- AHS is like a “flight recorder” for your server that provides continuous, proactive health monitoring and recording 1000s of system parameters and diagnostic telemetry data 24x7 on the server.
- AHS is available on Gen10, Gen9, and Gen8 servers with iLO 5 and iLO 4.
#3. iLO (Integrated Lights-Out)
- iLO is HPE’s management processor that is embedded on the ProLiant, Apollo, and Synergy servers.
iLO and AHS are tightly integrated and work together to gather and record the 1000s of system parameters and diagnostic telemetry data
Access to AHS is through iLO (customers access the AHS data through iLO)
It’s important to note that although InfoSight for Servers is new, the capturing and recording of health, configuration, and performance sensor and telemetry data at the individual server level has been around since AHS was introduced in Gen8 with iLO 4. What’s new with InfoSight for Servers is the automatic collection of this data into InfoSight.
So, how do you get started?
- To start using InfoSight for Servers, you’ll need to download the iLO Amplifier Pack appliance and run iLO Amplifier Pack in your datacenter
- iLO Amplifier Pack collects the AHS data for each of the servers and passes the health, configuration, and performance data for each server to InfoSight
- InfoSight then uses its predictive analytics and recommendations engine to analyze the health, configuration, and performance data of AHS to predict and prevent problems and improve performance
iLO Amplifier Pack acts as a gateway so you do not need to individually connect all the iLO processors to InfoSight. It is used to collect AHS files from all servers it sees and bulk uploads them.
CAS is a component embedded in iLO Amplifier Pack, it sends data to InfoSight backend.
OPA uses iLO REST API calls to create heartbeat files for each server, sent to InfoSight through CAS
iLO Amplifier Pack will need to be provided with customer proxy information to connect CAS to HPE InfoSight.
Warranty/Service entitlement verification is done in backend on basis of serial number / product number collected by AHS. No warranty or service requirements for InfoSight. Straight leverage from legacy Remote Support monitored servers.
Passport account used for initial HPE InfoSight login and iLO Amplifier Pack token procedure will be assigned administrator. Any admin can see own equipment only.
Customer admins can invite partners in “user” role so they can view the equipment. Customer admins can remove parner users at any time.
Partner always uses same passport account, so he will be able to see equipment of all customers who invited him (through multiple organisations).
Hello,
Welcome to RE-imagine
My name is Walter Van Hoolst and I work at HPE as a Technology Architect focusing on Nimble Storage.
During this presentation I will give you some insights how HPE uses Artificial Intelligence in the datacenter. Therefor I will give you a view on how Nimble Storage used Artificial Intelligence in their support organization and beyond.
Composer (running OneView) complements InfoSight to streamline operations and support: common view and common procedures across the composable infrastructure.
Our solution at HPE is HPE OneView, the foundation for this software-defined data center that helps drive the business and enable innovation. HPE OneView helps Deploy infrastructure faster by leveraging template based provisioning, Simplifies lifecycle operations with advanced self monitoring and maintenance tools and frictionless updates for important lifecycle ops like firmware and driver updates, and it helps increase productivity by making integrating third party tools a programmatic task through our unified API.
*click*
This is how HPE OneView is going to transform your data center from a siloed conglomeration of hardware, to a software-defined, intelligent infrastructure and set you on the path for success in supporting the business.
InfoSight for Servers is the extension of InfoSight for your ProLiant Gen10, Gen9, and Gen8 servers with iLO 5 and iLO 4.
InfoSight for Servers will be a multi-step journey that starts with a basic integration with InfoSight that will become more extensive over time. The initial release of InfoSight for Servers will include:
Predictive analytics to predict and prevent problems
data analytics for server security
predictive data analytics for parts failure
Global learning that provides wellness and performance dashboards for your global inventory of servers
global inventory of servers
performance, capacity, and utilization graphs,
And a recommendation engine to eliminate performance bottlenecks on servers
At HPE, our focus is to simplify the deployment and management of a hybrid cloud infrastructure.
With HPE Pointnext we offer the expertise to shift your service delivery platforms to an automated, flexible, and consumable model with a cloud-enabled agile and ops-lite approach to hybrid cloud.
Additionally, a new level of intelligent software-defined manageability is needed to simplify the complexity and bridge from discovery to insight to action.
HPE OneSphere is a multi-cloud management platform that unifies the management of on-and off-premises resources and enables seamless deployment, operation and optimization of multi-cloud environments and applications. It helps manage digital services and workloads across a multi-cloud environment from a single point improving speed, simplicity and cost efficiency.
HPE OneView transforms servers into software-defined infrastructure to eliminate complex manual processes spur IT collaboration and increase the speed and flexibility of IT service delivery. HPE OneView takes a software-defined programmatic approach to managing infrastructure with efficient workflow automation, a modern dashboard and a comprehensive partner ecosystem.
With InfoSight for Servers, HPE is combining the cloud-based machine learning of InfoSight with the health and performance monitoring of Active Health System (AHS) and iLO to optimize performance and predict and prevent problems. The end result is an intelligent environment that modernizes IT operations and enhances the support experience by predicting and preventing the infrastructure issues that lead to application disruptions, wasted IT staff time and missed business opportunities.
And of course a modern infrastructure is needed to maximize utilization of intelligent software to create an agile and secure software-defined infrastructure.
Thank you for your attention and don’t forget, we have a demo ready for everyone that wants to see InfoSight in action. Just come bye and say hello.
