Perceptual Data on Teacher Use of Technology Descriptors are based on the NETS for Teachers Achievement Rubric from the North Central Regional Education Laboratory Administered in October 2008 and March 2008
Teacher Use of Technology 1. I know how to connect and use common peripherals such as a printer, monitor, scanner, digital camera, and projector.
Teacher Use of Technology 2. I know how to access and use help desks, online help, and user documentation to recognize common hardware or software and network problems.
Teacher Use of Technology 3. I recognize, manage, and maintain computer files in a variety of different media and formats on a hard drive, network, and Web location.
Teacher Use of Technology 4. I research and identify emerging technology resources and formulate strategies for acquisition and use of emerging technologies with a convincing degree of educational potential.
Teacher Use of Technology 5. I use research on teaching and learning with technology to inform planning of technology-based learning environments and experiences.
Teacher Use of Technology 6. I know how to plan and implement technology-based learning activities to improve student academic achievement and promote higher order thinking skills by connecting curriculum standards with technology standards across subject areas and grade levels.
Teacher Use of Technology 7. I can describe how involvement or results of classroom-based action research, case studies, surveys, focus groups, or experimental studies of technology-based learning environments and experiences changed or affirmed planning, teaching, and/or assessment practices.
Teacher Use of Technology 8. I facilitate student use of technology to address social needs and cultural identity and promote interaction with the global community.
Teacher Use of Technology 9.  I collect, analyze, and report data on student performance from multiple measures over time, and apply strategies for use of data to improve planning, instruction, and management.
Teacher Use of Technology 10.  I identify and engage in technology-based opportunities for professional education and lifelong learning including use of distance education.
