Netflix Movie And Book Comparison Paper
Many authors have a specific audience in mind when they begin to create their work. This can be
seen in many different websites on the same type of information. I chose to compare the websites
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt4834206/ and http://www.lemonysnicket.com/. The first website is
the IMDB information page for the new Netflix series A Series of Unfortunate Events and the
second websiteis the official website of the book series of the same title. Both websites provide
information on this book series.
The primary audience of the IMDB website is professional critics. These critics have professional
insight and review books, TV shows, and movies for a living. They are adults that have been
hired to critique the new series. On the IMDB website, these critics can post their reviews of the
new Netflix series and they can also rate the series. Their comments on the series will be
reviewed by other people interested in watching the series. In contrast, the primary audience of
www.lemonysnicket.com is the readers of the book. Due to the fact that this is the official
website for the books, the readers and fans of the book series trust this website and would visit it.
The fans are mostly in their teenage years or early twenties and they know the series by heart. ...

These viewers would visit IMDB to look up the ratings, reviews, and summary of the series to
make the decision of whether or not they want to see the show. On the other hand, the secondary
audience of lemonysnicket.com would be the actors of the Netflix original series. On this
website, the actors can learn more about Lemony Snicket, the author of the book, and each of the
13 books in the series. They can also buy each book off of this website to read, which will help
them to understand the story and its characters and to play their roles more

The Legacy Of John Adams
John Adams was many things in his long and illustrious career. He was a lawyer, diplomat,
farmer, Vice President and President. He is most well known for being the second president. He
did some good things and some bad things. Although the four years of John Adams presidency
were quiet and somewhat forgotten, his successes in foreign policy and his control no doubt
outweighed his failures in the Sedition Act and with his cabinet, in part to his background and
characteristics. John Adam s greatest presidential accomplishment or success was his dealings
with France in 1798. This incident is better known as the infamous Quasi War . The Quasi War
was a dispute between the United States and France mainly fought over sea with each countries
navies. It started with the United States refusing to continue to repay the money that was owed
to from a loan from France to help them in war. The United States refused to pay because the
money owed to the previous government, as similar to the US. France had, had its own
revolutionary wars and overthrew the old monarchy ending in 1799. Since France had a new
government, the United States felt no need to pay off old debt to the French First Republic. Now
the French were not happy about this, so they started to attack American trade ships, which is
called impressment. This was a way to help aid in their war with Britain. With the France navy
oppressed so many of the US s trade ships, this could have easily led to open war between to the two

Introduction
The purpose of this critical inquiry is to investigate the relationship between product analysis and
the discipline of Design and Technology (D T). It is also intended to serve as a foundation for
developing a handling collection that can hone in on ideation using biomimicry at its base to
enhance and develop learning at the Key Stage 3 level.

experience. Physical objects have a remarkable capacity to motivate and to inspire. They arouse the

Gail Durbin together with others, writing in 1990, refer to the ability to interpret objects aids our
understanding of the world . It is important to distance oneself from the concept of a right answer ,
the pupils should feel free to try out and to share their theories and ideas.
Active Learning
The most important quality in teaching is active learning. This is the process of deploying a variety
of senses to interact with a task or activity. Active learning aids independent educationby putting
the emphasis of problem solving on the learners. This is critical for the modern day learning
environment because everyone learns in different ways; it meets the learning capabilities of
different levels.
Bringing energy into the classroom can making subjects more accessible through naturally
differentiating the learning and making it more accessible and enjoyable. In the work area, it brings

The Battle of the Crater
Introduction The Battle of the Crater was supposed to be an unexpected attempt by
Union forces to break through the Confederate defenses south of a critical hub near Petersburg,
Virginia. The battle took place on the morning of July 30 1864, and consisted of 16,500 IX Corps
Union soldiers and approximately 9,500 Confederate soldiers.1 Ambrose E. Burnside lead the IX
Corps soldiers but overall command of the Union soldiers known as Grant s Army of the Potomac
was by General George G. Meade. The confederate soldiers were mostly made up of elements of
the Army of Northern Virginia and South Carolina and were led by William Mahone under the
direct order of Robert E. Lee. The Union decided to explode a mine under the Confederates and
blow a gap into their defensive lines. Petersburg, Virginia was an important location due to the
railheads that merged together there. The railhead then continued to Richmond the capital to
deliver supplies to the Confederate Army. 2
History Some of the worst fighting between Ulysses S. Grant s Army of the Potomac and General
Robert E. Lee s Army happened in the months leading up to the Battle of the Crater near Petersburg,
Virginia. The two armies clashed at such places as the Wilderness, Spotsylvania Court House, the
North Anna River, Cold Harbor, and along the defensive perimeter around Petersburg.3 The

The Inspirational and Positive Responses of Offer Buyback
Offer buyback is advanced by numerous investigates placing a mixture of inspiration theory and
confirmations supporting offer buyback. Studies have recorded the inspirations and positive
responses from capital markets of U.s.a, Europe, japan, Taiwan, and so forth.
Dann (1981) and Masulis (1980) in their investigations of delicate offers have proposed and tried
individual duty theory to illustrate the increment in firm esteem going to stock repurchases. Their
study uncovered that the company s moguls who were in a high duty section, favored repurchases
as a method for circulation since the cohorted capital additions are liable to lower charges
(especially if deferred).the publication return reflected an increment in the after assessment worth
of the firm connected with the inferred change in appropriation approach.
Vermaelen (1981) inspected 131 purchase back delicate offers and credited the positive offer market
response to data indicating impact whereby the administration embraces purchase once more to
persuade the shareholders that the shares of the organization are undervalued. Grullon and
Ikenberry et al (1995 and 2000) have underpinned this contention. Wang Johnson (2005) likewise
embraced the thought that impart buyback is an administration device to pass on data to the
business around a guaranteeing organization future.

Fidel Castro As A Hero
Fidel Castro: A True Revolutionary
Every time someone says the word hero , everyone always thinks of supernatural beings with
incredible physical strength, whether they be fictional or not. Soldiers, volunteers, firefighters,
and policemen are considered to be heros but heroism does not always need strength and
wisdom to define a hero. Heros can be ordinary people that go out of their way for someone,
someone that we look up to, or, according to Joseph Campbell, a hero is someone who is willing
to sacrifice himself for others. While this causes major controversy, Fidel Castro is someone I
consider a hero, a revolutionary hero.
The Ordinary World
According to Joseph Campbell, there are 12 stages of a hero s journey, although not all 12
stages are used. The first stage of a hero s journey is the call to adventure which means that heros
must be removed from their everyday life to embark on a quest. Fidel Castro journeyed on a quest
because when he was younger, he participated in the Bogotazo, which were a series of riots in
BogotГЎ, Colombia following with the assassination of Jorge E. GaitГЎn. ( Encyclopedia of
World... ). Since not all hero s go through all 12 stages, Fidel Castro was one few of those who did
not go through the refusal stage, he accepted the call.
The Call to Adventure
He accepted the call and went into action because he was extremely passionate about social justice

Essay about How Attachment Develops
How Attachment Develops According to Mary Ainsworth (1989) an attachment is an affectional
bond which is a relatively long enduring tie in which the partner is important as a unique individual
(and where there) is a desire to maintain closeness to the partner Ainsworth argued that attachment
isn t an inherited behaviour (nature), but took the view that attachment is a learned process
(nurture). She agreed to the view put forward by the behaviourists to explain how all behaviour is
acquired, known s the learning theory. The learning theory is based around two principles of
conditioning; these are classical conditioning and operant conditioning. Classical conditioning
states that the pleasure... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This view also states that unhealthy attachments can develop when the child is deprived or gains
too much of this attention such as food or oral pleasure. Ainsworth (1974) purposed a caregiver s
sensitivity hypothesis that concluded that the type of attachment depends on the caregiver s warm
and loving responsiveness and supposed that secure attachment was the result of mothers being
sensitive to their children. This result was concluded through a procedure known as the strange
situation which is used to discover and measure the quality of attachment. Ainsworth worked with
Bell (1970) an assessed about 100 middle class American infants and their mothers using the strange
situation this is a method of controlled observation involving observing infants with their mothers
during a set of predetermined activities. The observer records the infants and mothers behaviours
such as separation anxiety, the unease the infant showed when left by the caregiver: the infant s
willingness to explore, stranger anxiety: the Infant s response to the presence of a stranger and
finally reunion behaviour: the way the caregiver was greeted on return. They concluded from
several studies of measuring secure and insecure attachment that they were three types of
attachment. Type B (securely attached) was the largest group of infants. These children were

While the majority of tea is sold through retail outlets, foodservice volume sales increased at a
faster rate in 2009, 7%, than retail volume sales, 5%. Small independent restaurants, which are
present throughout the country, particularly in rural areas, are the key sellers of foodservice tea.
Small independent restaurants that sell inexpensive food also sell loose tea. These restaurants
are widespread throughout Pakistan and are found in both rural and urban areas. Restaurants that
target middle and upper income groups generally sell packaged/branded tea. Lipton and Tapal
are the key brands which are used by foodservice channels. In addition to retail sales through
restaurants, almost all small and large grocery stores carry packaged tea as one of their main
products. There are, however, speciality tea shops in key areas that sell a large variety of loose tea.
The price of tea per kg increased by 43% to PKR408 in 2009. Black standard tea bags suffered the
highest price increases in 2009, jumping by 46%. Tea prices increased on a global scale in 2009,
as a result of poor harvests in Kenya, Sri Lanka and India, while the situation was exacerbated in
Pakistan due to its rupee losing value against the US dollar.
As Pakistani consumers become increasingly aware of Western trends and lifestyles they have been
drawn to fruit/herbal tea. Local producers have been quick to capitalise on

The Pros And Cons Of Andrew Jackson
President Andrew Jackson served as President of the United States from 1826 to 1837 and is
looked at my many as one of the best presidents in American history. Jackson was a man without
many limits and did what he wanted because he simply wanted to do it, not because it was
necessarily the popular opinion or Constitutional. This caused a lot of problems, but also was
very beneficial in making solutions to problems in the country. Although, as a result of this,
many people saw him as a dictator like tyrant and didn t agree with his pandering towards the
uneducated, more working class civilians during his campaign. President Jackson s presidency
was controversial as a result in debate over his political tactics as well as possibly overstepping
his Constitutional boundaries when it came to the amount of power he exuded on the people;
therefore, many people spoke out against his uneducated followers as well as his aggressive style
while some evidence shows that these efforts were supported. Firstly, Jackson was the first
president to ever pander to those who weren t educated, rich, and well cultured. Coming from
humble beginnings, Andrew Jackson sympathized with the average, everyday citizen and wished to
represent their opinions rather than just those of the wealthy. As shown in Document 7, a pie graph
showing the rise in the turnout of voters from 1824 to 1844 reveal a dramatic increase in voter turn
out when Jackson first ran for President compared to the previous

This definition has the advantage of simplifying Clinical Decision Support to a functional concept.
Basic definition of a CDSS in its simplest form is that it is a decision support system (DSS) that is
used in the clinical setting. Often a Diagnostic Decision Support System DDSS is assumed to be
equivalent to a CDSS and are thought to be interchangeable. However, in a clinical setting, making
diagnoses based on clinical data is only a subset of the spectrum in which DSS can be used in a
clinical setting. Purpose/Goal
The main purpose of modern CDSS is to assist clinicians at the point of care. This means that a
clinician would interact with a CDSS to help determine diagnosis, analysis, etc. of patient data.
Previous theories of CDSS were to use the CDSS to literally make decisions for the clinician. The
clinician would input the information and wait for the CDSS to output the right choice and the
clinician would simply act on that output. The new methodology of using CDSS to assist forces the
clinician to interact with the CDSS utilizing both the clinician s knowledge and the CDSS to make
a better analysis of the patients data than either human or CDSS could make on their own. Typically
the CDSS would make suggestions of outputs or a set of outputs for the clinician to look through
and the clinician officially picks useful information and removes erroneous CDSS suggestions.

From the start of the movie with the Undertaker, Don Corleone displays his noble side. The
Undertaker s story is a very sad one where the law failed him and he goes to the Don to deal with
this issue. The Don says he will help the Undertaker with his daughter s attempted rapists and
victimizers, but not the way the undertaker wants to. The Don has a moral code that one would
not expect from a harden criminal. His moral code is similar to an eye for eye mentality. The
Undertaker wants the Don to kill the attackers, but the Don will not go that far because the
Undertaker still has his daughter. Don Corleone shows this later when ending family wars. Now

Presence of Water on Mars
Mars is the planet nearest to Earth that we are most likely to explore and send manned missions
to. It also is the planet that we have the best chance of finding life on. For both these things water
is needed so exploration of Mars by space probes has concentrated on looking for water.
Humans have searched for evidence of water on Mars for many years. In 1895
American astronomer Percival Lowell thought that he had seen canals on the surface of Mars.
These were disproved as tricks of the eye. Spacecraft in the 1960 s and 1970 s reported that Mars
was very dry. However, spacecraft in the 1970 s to the 1990 s started to report evidence of water,

An additional resource that I found confirms this work. It was in a United Press article released
in December 2002. The article is valid as it summarises and backs up data from NASA. It has
been known for some time that the poles have frozen carbon dioxide, (dry ice) but more data
from the Mars Global Surveyor probe has shown that the height of ice in the North Pole is higher
than dry ice alone could be. This suggests water is tied up in the polar ice caps. This was confirmed
by Odyssey.
People had suggested water had existed near the surface of Mars but now scientists had conclusive

Film Analysis Of Don Lockwood s singin In The Rain
If you ve seen one, you ve seen them all, remarks Kathy Selden about movies after first meeting
silent film star Don Lockwood in the beginning of Singin in the Rain (Singin in the Rain 17:38).
While Kathy was slightly off base when saying that all movies are the same, movies belonging to
the same genre often do share certain conventions which author Bernard F. Dick discusses in his
book Anatomy of Film and Tim Dirks confirms in his assessment of the genre for the American
Movie Classics Company. What do one of the best musicals ever made and the newest musical to

In Singin in the Rain, one of the best examples of the plot motivating a song or dance happens a
little over halfway through the movie. Don, Kathy, and Cosmo have just returned from the test
premiere of Don s newest movie and first talkie. The audience hated the movie, and Don now
feels like his career is over. While Kathy and Cosmo try to cheer him up, they come up with the
idea of turning his movie into a musical. As they celebrate this new idea, they realize it is past
midnight which brings about Good Morning. 1:01:00 This number gives the characters a
physical and verbal way of showing their glee concerning the idea of turning the movie into a
musical. When speaking specifically about Singin in the Rain, Dick says, The other musical
numbers in the film also advance the plot and are not merely occasions for an actor to break into
a song or dance (Dick 123). Good Morning, like the other numbers in Singin in the Rain,
advances continues to drive the plot. Likewise, in La La Land as Dom walks Mia to find her car
after they meet at a party, Dom begins singing about what a lovely night it is which evolves into
a full on song and dance. 33:20 The dance comes to a close as the pair comes face to face, and
Mia s cellphone ringing breaks the moment. These numbers, like other numbers in integrated
musicals, can make a normal part of the plot more exciting and memorable to the audience by

Aquinas Legality Of War
Among some of the subjects that Aquinas tackles in On Law, Morality, and Politics is the
dilemma of War and Killing. Aquinas sums up the legality of war through three criteria: that the
war waged is done by a legitimate authority, that the war is just because the enemy has done
something grossly wrong, and the intention of the war is to solely right the wrong. Also we see
Aquinas say that the killing of an innocent person is justified if God will s it. Aquinas argues that
one of the objectives in order to make a war justified is when a legitimate authority declares it.
Typical it is usually a country s top leadership that would count as legitimate authority, however in
the United Statesit is not the President who can legally declare... Show more content on

If this was the policy that was to be followed, the United States would not be a country since it
was private citizens, who according to Aquinas are certainly not legitimate authority, who armed
themselves and rebelled against the British. The former colonies who revolted and rebelled
against their Imperial European countries would not be awarded their own countries because the
people who are ruled are not in authority and thus, according to Aquinas, cannot wage war. The
second criterion for waging war because the enemy has done something wrong against the first
country I can agree with Aquinas is just. When a country has repeatedly harassed another country,
made consistent threats and provokes another country to war by building up their military and
does represent a threat to the country and/or the surrounding countries, then I believe it is just for
the first country to act and to ensure stability by eliminating the threat. A country who constantly
causes trouble within its own borders and/or nearby countries cannot be left about if diplomacy
and negotiating for peace goes nowhere, waiting will only stir more trouble and peace will
become more threatened if it hasn t already been removed. The third is somewhat unrealistic in
my opinion. Throughout mankind, wars have been waged never solely to right a wrong . Lives
are lost, land and property are damaged and destroyed, life is hell during war. It

looks even smaller. Sometimes when I walk through the door her towel and dirty clothes are
right in the middle of the floor. It s obvious to see that in most cases, she does not honor our
separate but equal rule. It s ironic that this is happening because she thought of the idea. I guess
she is comfortable enough with me now to join more of our belongings. Earlier I mentioned a
little about the layout of my dorm room. Now, here is the full version. When you come into the
dorm, each set up on the right and left are basically the same. The closets are against the same
wall as the door in separate corners. On top of my closet is a big black stereo, most of the time I
have some type of R B or Neo Soul coming from the speakers. My roommate has the TV and
DVD player on top of her closet. Recently we watched the MTV Music Awards on it. Moving
right along to our microwaves, which are located on separate walls, one of them in sitting on the

Then, we need to forecast the value of the offer.
Berkshire s offer consisted of two inseparable parts, an asset agreement and a credit agreement.
Total value of the offer is $142 million.

Strategy 1: Accept the Berkshire s offer.
From the part 2 calculated, we can see that the value of company is about $130.01 million, and
Berkshire s offer is about $142 million higher than the value of company. The offer s Credit

Descriptive Speech About Cheer
Why would I fear what was so familiar, so natural to now be so peculiar? I have always cheered,
since I could remember. When I first began it felt so easy tome. I learned quickly and advanced
faster than the others. Cheer became a hobby something I looked forward too. I never thought
about coaching but could I really? On Monday August 28, 2017 two very big things happened in
my life. I started my first day of highschool and also did something that would impact me for the
rest of my life. Around five forty five p.m I began to get ready. For what, you may ask. Today was
my first day of coaching cheer. Cheer is very important to me, I hold it very close to my heart.
Cheeringis something that I have always done. It was the first thing that I felt like was meant for
me. My stomach has a thousand butterflies in it. Flapping their wings so fast as if they were
trying to get to a beautiful, sweet flower. I had no idea why I felt this way. Why was I nervous?
I am a great cheerleader, you got this girl I coached myself confidently. On the inside I was
everything but confident. I felt cowardly, I didn t want to coach anymore. Was I being fearful of a
group of three to twelve year olds?
Wow what have you come to? I disappointedly said to myself with a twisted face of confusion.
It is not that hard Amaiya, just go out there confidently and show them what you got. I assured
myself. I then took a deep breath and finished getting ready. I walked downstairs slowly plaguing

Violent Crimes In America
To begin, today in America there is a lot controversy going on in relation to this topic. Statistics
show that violent crimes are dropping over recent years. These groups are made up of people
who want guns to be banned entirely. They believe that no average citizen should have a gun at all
and some even wish the take guns away from law enforcement officers. The arguments against this
first group of people is that is we ban guns criminals will continue to have them, but no one else

Bangladesh Sweatshop
In a third world country, jobs are not easy to come by; especially jobs that pay enough to sustain a
living. However, various individuals living in these desolate places have found a solution that
seems repulsive to people fortunate enough to live in a first world country; sweatshops. On April
24th, 2013, in Dhaka, a district in central Bangladesh, a sweatshopcollapsed on the workers inside,
killing a thousand and injuring over two thousand. People were aghast at the working conditions in
sweatshops exposed in this event. Raveena Aulakh, Toronto Star journalist, went undercover at a

Essay on Evolution of the Keyboard
The Physical Evolution of the Keyboard: From Monochord to Harpsichord
Since the first person heard the wind whistle through the trees or the sea in a seashell humans have
been drawn to sound. Being the oppressive and ingenious species that we are we felt the need to
capture these sounds and any others that we could to keep for our own. Eventually people like
Pythagoras and gods such as Apollo found that by stretching materials and picking/plucking them
that they would produce sounds and that the tighter you stretched these strings the higher the sound
would go. These were the early beginnings of the pianoforte.
The first ancestor of the modern pianoforte is the monochord (diagram 1). A monochord is a...

It is a rectangular box set horizontally on four legs. The strings run parallel with the long sides
of the case, as does the keyboard, which sits off center to one end or the other. At the opposite
end of this rectangle is the soundboard. The soundboard is a box taking up one quarter of the
total length of the instrument. It is usually made of softwood with an f shaped hole cut in it to
amplify the sound coming from the strings, which are situated just above it. The keys sit on a
simple rocker mechanism and strike the strings with brass blades called tangents. Under normal
circumstances the strings are deadened by felt dampers lying very near to on end of the strings. As
the key is depressed it strikes the string just past the felt damper and creates a temporary bridge
for that string allowing it to vibrate. For the note to continue to vibrate the player must keep the
key depressed. Also, due to the nature of the mechanism on the clavichord it is possible for the
player to create vibrato by varying the amount of pressure put on a key once it has been depressed.
Unfortunately due to the size and construction of the clavichord it has an extremely soft sound
making it impossible to be heard in noisy surroundings.

Bias In The Media s Twist Story
Half of the things from modern media that people have heard has probably been twisted in some
way. I believe that the media does twist stories, to make things sound different. There are plenty of
examples where the media will make a situation sound different, show bias towards one person, or
lie and gives false facts. The media does this a lot more than often than you think, and it can affect a
humongous area.
Surprisingly often, the media will change a story to make someone or something sound worse. For
my first example, a newspaper makes Philip s fight against his suspension sound worse (AVI 127.)
The media is making Philip s situation sound like a colossal problem, when it s actually just a
minor thing. The media is making Miss Narwin sound ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A newspaper company lies about Philip s story, and gives out false facts (AVI 118.) This
company is lying, and completely changing the story, making it more interesting, but also false.
The media gives out false facts, and someone uses them in a school board meeting (AVI 125.)
This shows how the media giving out false facts, does end up tricking people who eventually
might end up spreading the false facts. News lies about the location of a kind story (Sigmund
Fraud 12.) Here, there is a story that is broadcasted across the entire world but is considered
local. This is showing that the media is twisting a story to make it seem like it is something
within their community, even if it was across the world. Media lies to help Stalin hide something
dangerous (John Hayward 2 3.) In this example, the media was twisting a story some decades ago,
to make a situation seem like everything was okay. Helping Stalin changed the entire course of
history. News outlets lie about a young boy named Jimmy (John Hayward 7 9.) In Washington
D.C. the news created a fake story about a little boy named Jimmy, who was an 8 year old heroin
addict. The media lies, and creates a fake story about this boy just to have something interesting
to offer. Media lies, saying fake news is the reason Hillary lost (Chris Pandolfo 37 38.) The media
lies, saying that they believe that Hillary Clinton lost just because of fake news. They are twisting
the whole story about Clinton s campaign, which had a lot of big things about her that were

Catcher In The Rye Symbolism
Catcher in the Rye Formal Essay In the novel The Catcher in the Rye, J.D Salinger uses
symbolism to detail and characterize Holden on his journey of discovery and coming of age. Using
this to his advantage, Salinger repeatedly uses symbols to demonstrate Holden s unconscious
resistance towards change and thereby his fear of growing up. Throughout the novel we see how
this character is being unraveled through three symbols: his childish interests towards the ducks in
central park, his fondness of the Museum of Natural History, and his misinterpretation of lyrics of
the poem Coming Thro the Rye. Holden s infatuation with the ducks becomes apparent from very
early in the book and establishes not only the beginnings of his character but also his childish
thoughts and behaviors.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
That s all I d do all day. (Salinger 173) For Holden his dream to become the Catcher in the Rye
idealizes his own vision and view of growing up. His description of himself catching children
from falling of a crazy cliff, is symbolic of his desire to safeguard children s innocence from
falling off the cliff which represents the fall to adulthood and therefore loss of innocence. Just
like how the truck comes saves the ducks from the hardships of winter, Holden sees himself as
the savior which rescues the children from the hardships of growing up. It is however this very
desire to save someone else, in which Holden uses as an excuse to distance and comfort himself
from accepting the fact that he the one who fears growing up. In addition, Holden s
misinterpretation of the lyrics from body meet a body refers to two people meeting in the rye and
having sex. This is in complete contrast with his own more innocent interpretation of body catch a
body, which inspired his crazy dream. It further shows how

Early Childhood Education and its Impact on Technology
Early childhood education is a time where young children develop important learning skills. Young
children, aged birth through approximately 8 years (young children, 2004) interact with one
another to develop social and even motor skills that they will carry with them later in life.
Development in young children involves the early years in a child s physical, social emotional,
language, and cognitive development (Baur, 1998).
Developmental aspects can be assessed by technology. Technology is growing everyday in our
society, it is becoming a big factor in the use of early childhood education.

Developmental areas include social and emotional, language, motor, cognition, and in addition a
child will make approaches towards learning as well (Davis, 1998). Language development is very
important during this time and computers help since children are exposed to them for reading and
writing purposes. Also, it gives opportunities for them to be motivated to interact with other
children if they are in groups. Research has shown that computer play encourages longer more
complex speech and development of fluency (Baur, 1998). Cognitively, technology use is
connected to children and the use of it can lead to greater motivation and self direction.
Development is very important socially, and placing children in groups or pairs helps interaction
between their peers. This helps increased levels of spoken communication and cooperation that
were demonstrated in a study.
Study of five and six year olds and how they learned in a computer enrich environment
Learning development during early childhood education is very critical. How children learn is

Effects Of Sesame Street On The Education Of Young Children
When introduced to the idea of an epidemic, people are urged to think of viruses, fashion trends,
or even peaks of crime. One does not see something as virtuous as Sesame Street to be a wide
spreading contagion. Yet, Sesame Street provoked a social epidemic as one of the most influential
children s television programs of its time. Malcolm Gladwell has studied the effects of Sesame
Streeton the education of young children in his novel, The Tipping Point. He has three overall
generalizations of all epidemics, including the Law of the Few, the Stickiness Factor, and the
Power of Context. I will apply these generalizations to his example of Sesame Street to support
Gladwell s argument. In addition, I will support his argument using the philosophical theories of
Alasdair McIntyre and Theodore M. Porter. Overall, Gladwell poses a convincing argument that
the success of Sesame Street is due to the complete combination of his three generalizations. The
beginning of Sesame Street as an epidemic began with the very start of the television program.
Television producer, Joan Ganz Cooneyembarked on a mission to create a children s learning
epidemic (Gladwell 89). Many epidemics that are covered in Gladwell s novel are unintentional.
The producers of Sesame Street, however, purposefully researched the effect of their show to ensure
that it was impactful. It is arguable whether or not they wanted to provoke an epidemic, but the
effects of the program were completely intentional. In

Dilated Eye Exams
A regular eye exam checks the eyes from the outside. It also detects your eyesight. A dilated eye
exam checks the eye from the inside. This painless procedure can detect things your eye doctor can

Dilate means widen, so a dilated eye exam widens the pupil with eye drops. After 15 to 20 minutes
of waiting, the doctor will get a good view of the eye on the inside. It detects warning signs of eye
diseases like diabetes, tumors, macular degeneration, retinal detachment, high blood pressure,
vasculitis, head injuries, and infectious diseases. They also search for eye damage in the optic
nerve. The doctor will shine a light in each eye and examine them. If something is detected the eye

Sherwood Anderson And The Great Depression
2. Why did Sherwood Anderson decide to leave the area around the soup kitchen where he was
standing? What does it tell you about the American character that men and women were ashamed to
admit that they were hungry and in need of soup?
5. How did the depression affect ordinary Americans, both economically and physiologically? How
do the stories of Gordon Parks and Odie Stallings illustrate the personal tragedies that people and
families faced during these economic hard times?
While visiting a soup kitchen Sherwood Anderson witnessed acts of pride. The individuals who
were affected by the Great Depression were ashamed to associate with receiving meals from the
soup kitchen in the basement. While observing the daily visit to the soup kitchen Sherwood
Anderson decided to leave because he felt he was making the other Americans feel shameful and

Sherwood Anderson felt that he was causing shame or embarrassment to the other Americans

Tetanus is a life threatening but preventable disease that is characterized by an acute onset of
painful muscular contractions (usually in a descending pattern, starting with trismus or lockjaw)
and generalized rigidity.1 It is caused by the toxin of Clostridium tetani, a spore forming bacterium.
The spores can be found in soil, dust, and in human and animal feces, entering the body through
breaks in the skin and germinating under low oxygen conditions .1,2 The most successful
intervention against tetanus in history is its prevention by means of an effective vaccine which has
led to a dramatic fall in the incidence of tetanus.3
Tetanus occurs in all parts of the world most frequently in hot and wet climates where the soil
contains a lot of organic matter. Although rare in the United States (US), with an average of 29
reported cases per year from 1996 through 2009, it has not been eradicated by vaccination
programs.2 While early diagnosis and intervention are lifesaving, prevention is the ultimate
management strategy.4 According to the US Center for Disease Control (CDC), nearly all cases of
tetanus are among people who have never

Importance Of Qualitative Research
1. Session: Introduction to Qualitative Research in Psychology
Qualitative research not only refers to the techniques used to collect and analyse certain data but
also to a field of research in itself. The different philosophical positions have in turn informed the
varied approaches to qualitative research.
As an exploratory type of research, it seeks to gather the in depth understanding of the behaviour
of a sample group. The personal opinion, values and experiences of them. It affords the
opportunity to observe the participants behaviour as well as allowing the researcher to delve into
the participants beliefs and really probe to obtain a greater detailed understanding of the issue.
Qualitative research techniques are flexible and normally conducted in naturalistic settings using
semi structured data collection methods as this accommodates the deviation to obtain that greater
depth of answer. There are different types of analysis used for example, Interpretive
Phenomenological Analysis, grounded theory, narrative, thematic and pattern based discourse
analysis.
Unlike quantitative research that use numbers as data and statistics, qualitative methods rely on
words and meaning. It seeks to understand the problem rather than quantifying it placing more
emphasis on subjectivity rather than objectivity.
Qualitative methods tend to use smaller sample sizes due to the personal form of research putting
the persons perspective at the centre of the work. The results are

Class Moe The Reasons for the Success of the Bolsheviks and the Outcomes for Their Success
The Bolsheviks played quite a successful role in the October Revolution. There were many reasons
that helped the Bolsheviks seize power and transform Russia into a modern socialist society namely,
the weakness of the provisional government, Lenin s great leadership, Trotsky s control, and finally,
the Bolsheviks successful propaganda. These acts shaped the Bolshevik Party and gained it social,
political, and economic support from the lower classes. This all resulted in both the creation of the
Soviet Union and the Civil War. The Bolsheviks went from being an insignificant radical party to a

Book Review Of The BookHoles, By Louis Sachar
The title of the book I read is Holes, which was written by Louis Sachar. This classic is taken
place not far back in time, and is mostly placed at Camp Green Lake. Camp Green Lake is a
detention camp for troubled boys. It used to have a beautiful lake long ago, but after years and
years the lake and the town dried up. In the book s present time its dry land is used to teach the
young men to clean up their act. They must dig holesconstantly with a specific diameter and
depth. The heat is roaring and the dangerous animals of the desert are mentioned. Stanley Yelnats
is the main character who is from a poor family. His family has very bad luck... they believe it s a
curse from his great great grandfather. This young innocent guy is still in his teen years. In the
story Stanley is wrongly accused of stealing a pair of shoes; he then went to court. He was lucky
enough to have a choice to either go to jail for a short period of time or to go to Camp Green
Lake. Stanley thought the camp would be fun because he has never been to one. When Stanley
arrives at the camp he kind of feels intimidated because of all the rough boys there. After
accepting each other s differences they become friends then he meets Zero (his actual name in the
story is Hector.) That s what they call him because he doesn t know how to read and he barely
says anything. Yelnats feels bad about this, so with his free time he teaches Zero how to read little

But of course you can never tell; people are such hypocrites. This explains Julia to a tee, she had
been teaching people for years against having sex and she did it whenever she could definitely
hypocrisy. O Brien is thought to be the leader of the Brotherhood which is against the Party.
Anyone who believes this, like Winston and Julia do, are bound to be arrested and righted of
their hatred against the Party. We get to know O Brien in the part where he tortures Winston,
one cool line he says is, For, after all, how do we know that two and two make four? Or that the
force of gravity works? Or that the past is unchangeable? If both the past and the external world
exist only in the mind, and if the mind itself is controllable what then? This quote shows the
power of Big Brother and how they control the past and the future to steer people to act the way
they want them to. Truth is irrelevant. Emmanuel Goldstein is another prominent figure because he
is the founder of the Party. This quote, The program of the Two Minutes Hate varied from day to
day, but there was none in which Goldstein was not the principal figure. He was the primal traitor,
the earliest defiler of the Party s purity. All subsequent crimes against the Party, all treacheries, acts

Examples Of Sacrifice In The Highwayman
It is acceptable for someone to sacrifice oneself for the sake of another. A sacrifice is when
someone gives something that is important to them in order to help another. First, The
Highwayman is a good example of why sacrifice is acceptable. In this story, Bess sacrificed her
life in order to warn the highwayman, because soldiers held her captive and were planning to
kill him. This is acceptable because the king s men were probably going to kill her anyway, and
doing this she saved the highwayman. If he were to die she probably thought that there would be
no reason to live anyway. The next piece of text that supports sacrifices is The Third Wish. In this
story, Leita sacrificed her freedom to stay loyal to Mr.Peters. This is a good sacrifice

Aging Skin Care Tips
At the time of birth the baby s skin is soft, smooth and impeccable. As the time passes, the skin has
to face many types of environmental conditions that destroy the skin s natural beauty. The main
reason for the impairment of skin s beauty is the neglect of skin and not giving proper attention to
it. A child s skinis soft, so it needs special care. Skin care does not mean taking care of only the
skin of the face, but it means giving security to entire skin of the body. We must give bath to
children with a soft soap. Giving an oil massage before bath during the dry weather helps keep the

Skin thins and collagen that once held your face firm and taut begins to break down. Combat the
signs of aging by implementing simple changes to your lifestyle and skin care regime. Follow
the seven anti aging skin care tips to reduce the speed at which your skin shows age, and
minimize the occurrence of wrinkles and fine lines. Anti aging skin care begins by moisturizing
your skin Use a moisturizer as a part of your every day facial cleansing routine, regardless of
your age. Prevention is the best protection against aging. Products that effectively deliver vitamin
C to the skin encourage your skins natural production of collagen. Invest wisely in moisturizers
that feel light and are absorbed into the skins surface. Otherwise, you are using a protective
product that simply sits on the skin. You need a skin care moisturizer to provide hydration
beneath the top layer of skin. Greasy moisturizers are also more likely to clog pores, increasing
the potential for blackheads and pimples. If you are beginning to show signs of aging, amp up
your moisturizer to an anti aging skin cream or anti aging serum. Common sense anti aging skin
care: Eat a healthy, well balanced diet Your skin is your body s largest organ and is affected by
the food you eat. Foods rich in vitamin C and E may help the skins production of collagen. A
healthy, well balanced diet filled with fruits and green leafy vegetables will be reflected in
lustrous, healthy looking skin. Likewise, a poor diet will be reflected by dull, pasty skin. Diet
plays an important role in your quest for anti aging skin care. Stop smoking You are already
aware of the dangers to your body caused by smoking. This is just a reminder that smoking
causes your skin to age faster. It can also clog pores, leading to dull, dead skin cells and blemishes.
If your goal is anti aging skin care, drop the cigarettes. It s easier said than done, but you have a
choice to make. Inexpensive

He is most well known for being the second president. He did some good things and some bad things. Although the four years of John Adams presidency were quiet and somewhat forgotten, his successes in foreign policy and his control no doubt outweighed his failures in the Sedition Act and with his cabinet, in part to his background and characteristics. John Adam s greatest presidential accomplishment or success was his dealings with France in 1798. This incident is better known as the infamous Quasi War . The Quasi War was a dispute between the United States and France mainly fought over sea with each countries navies. It started with the United States refusing to continue to repay the money that was owed to from a loan from France to help them in war. The United States refused to pay because the money owed to the previous government, as similar to the US. France had, had its own revolutionary wars and overthrew the old monarchy ending in 1799. Since France had a new government, the United States felt no need to pay off old debt to the French First Republic. Now the French were not happy about this, so they started to attack American trade ships, which is called impressment. This was a way to help aid in their war with Britain. Soldiers, volunteers, firefighters, and policemen are considered to be heros but heroism does not always need strength and wisdom to define a hero. Heros can be ordinary people that go out of their way for someone, someone that we look up to, or, according to Joseph Campbell, a hero is someone who is willing to sacrifice himself for others. While this causes major controversy, Fidel Castro is someone I consider a hero, a revolutionary hero. The Ordinary World According to Joseph Campbell, there are 12 stages of a hero s journey, although not all 12 stages are used. The first stage of a hero s journey is the call to adventure which means that heros must be removed from their everyday life to embark on a quest. This result was concluded through a procedure known as the strange situation which is used to discover and measure the quality of attachment. The Pros And Cons Of Andrew Jackson President Andrew Jackson served as President of the United States from 1826 to 1837 and is looked at my many as one of the best presidents in American history. Jackson was a man without many limits and did what he wanted because he simply wanted to do it, not because it was necessarily the popular opinion or Constitutional. This caused a lot of problems, but also was very beneficial in making solutions to problems in the country. Although, as a result of this, many people saw him as a dictator like tyrant and didn t agree with his pandering towards the uneducated, more working class civilians during his campaign. President Jackson s presidency was controversial as a result in debate over his political tactics as well as possibly overstepping his Constitutional boundaries when it came to the amount of power he exuded on the people; therefore, many people spoke out against his uneducated followers as well as his aggressive style while some evidence shows that these efforts were supported. Firstly, Jackson was the first president to ever pander to those who weren t educated, rich, and well cultured. Coming from humble beginnings, Andrew Jackson sympathized with the average, everyday citizen and wished to represent their opinions rather than just those of the wealthy. However, in a clinical setting, making diagnoses based on clinical data is only a subset of the spectrum in which DSS can be used in a clinical setting. Purpose/Goal The main purpose of modern CDSS is to assist clinicians at the point of care. This means that a clinician would interact with a CDSS to help determine diagnosis, analysis, etc. of patient data. Previous theories of CDSS were to use the CDSS to literally make decisions for the clinician. The clinician would input the information and wait for the CDSS to output the right choice and the clinician would simply act on that output. The new methodology of using CDSS to assist forces the clinician to interact with the CDSS utilizing both the clinician s knowledge and the CDSS to make a better analysis of the patients data than either human or CDSS could make on their own. Typically the CDSS would make suggestions of outputs or a set of outputs for the clinician to look through and the clinician officially picks useful information and removes erroneous CDSS suggestions. • 19. Aquinas Legality Of War Among some of the subjects that Aquinas tackles in On Law, Morality, and Politics is the dilemma of War and Killing. Aquinas sums up the legality of war through three criteria: that the war waged is done by a legitimate authority, that the war is just because the enemy has done something grossly wrong, and the intention of the war is to solely right the wrong. Also we see Aquinas say that the killing of an innocent person is justified if God will s it. Aquinas argues that one of the objectives in order to make a war justified is when a legitimate authority declares it. Typical it is usually a country s top leadership that would count as legitimate authority, however in the United Statesit is not the President who can legally declare... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... If this was the policy that was to be followed, the United States would not be a country since it was private citizens, who according to Aquinas are certainly not legitimate authority, who armed themselves and rebelled against the British. The former colonies who revolted and rebelled against their Imperial European countries would not be awarded their own countries because the people who are ruled are not in authority and thus, according to Aquinas, cannot wage war. The second criterion for waging war because the enemy has done something wrong against the first country I can agree with Aquinas is just. When a country has repeatedly harassed another country, made consistent threats and provokes another country to war by building up their military and does represent a threat to the country and/or the surrounding countries, then I believe it is just for the first country to act and to ensure stability by eliminating the threat. A country who constantly causes trouble within its own borders and/or nearby countries cannot be left about if diplomacy and negotiating for peace goes nowhere, waiting will only stir more trouble and peace will become more threatened if it hasn t already been removed. The third is somewhat unrealistic in my opinion. Throughout mankind, wars have been waged never solely to right a wrong . Eventually people like Pythagoras and gods such as Apollo found that by stretching materials and picking/plucking them that they would produce sounds and that the tighter you stretched these strings the higher the sound would go. It is usually made of softwood with an f shaped hole cut in it to amplify the sound coming from the strings, which are situated just above it. The keys sit on a simple rocker mechanism and strike the strings with brass blades called tangents. Under normal circumstances the strings are deadened by felt dampers lying very near to on end of the strings. As the key is depressed it strikes the string just past the felt damper and creates a temporary bridge for that string allowing it to vibrate. For the note to continue to vibrate the player must keep the key depressed. Also, due to the nature of the mechanism on the clavichord it is possible for the player to create vibrato by varying the amount of pressure put on a key once it has been depressed. Unfortunately due to the size and construction of the clavichord it has an extremely soft sound making it impossible to be heard in noisy surroundings. I believe that the media does twist stories, to make things sound different. There are plenty of examples where the media will make a situation sound different, show bias towards one person, or lie and gives false facts. The media does this a lot more than often than you think, and it can affect a humongous area. Surprisingly often, the media will change a story to make someone or something sound worse. For my first example, a newspaper makes Philip s fight against his suspension sound worse (AVI 127.) This shows how the media giving out false facts, does end up tricking people who eventually might end up spreading the false facts. News lies about the location of a kind story (Sigmund Fraud 12.) Here, there is a story that is broadcasted across the entire world but is considered local. This is showing that the media is twisting a story to make it seem like it is something within their community, even if it was across the world. Catcher In The Rye Symbolism Catcher in the Rye Formal Essay In the novel The Catcher in the Rye, J.D Salinger uses symbolism to detail and characterize Holden on his journey of discovery and coming of age. Using this to his advantage, Salinger repeatedly uses symbols to demonstrate Holden s unconscious resistance towards change and thereby his fear of growing up. Throughout the novel we see how this character is being unraveled through three symbols: his childish interests towards the ducks in central park, his fondness of the Museum of Natural History, and his misinterpretation of lyrics of the poem Coming Thro the Rye. Just like how the truck comes saves the ducks from the hardships of winter, Holden sees himself as the savior which rescues the children from the hardships of growing up. It is however this very desire to save someone else, in which Holden uses as an excuse to distance and comfort himself from accepting the fact that he the one who fears growing up. One does not see something as virtuous as Sesame Street to be a wide spreading contagion. Yet, Sesame Street provoked a social epidemic as one of the most influential children s television programs of its time. Malcolm Gladwell has studied the effects of Sesame Streeton the education of young children in his novel, The Tipping Point. He has three overall generalizations of all epidemics, including the Law of the Few, the Stickiness Factor, and the Power of Context. I will apply these generalizations to his example of Sesame Street to support Gladwell s argument. In addition, I will support his argument using the philosophical theories of Alasdair McIntyre and Theodore M. Porter. Overall, Gladwell poses a convincing argument that the success of Sesame Street is due to the complete combination of his three generalizations. The beginning of Sesame Street as an epidemic began with the very start of the television program. Television producer, Joan Ganz Cooneyembarked on a mission to create a children s learning epidemic (Gladwell 89). Many epidemics that are covered in Gladwell s novel are unintentional. The producers of Sesame Street, however, purposefully researched the effect of their show to ensure that it was impactful. It is arguable whether or not they wanted to provoke an epidemic, but the effects of the program were completely intentional. In ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Session: Introduction to Qualitative Research in Psychology Qualitative research not only refers to the techniques used to collect and analyse certain data but also to a field of research in itself. The different philosophical positions have in turn informed the varied approaches to qualitative research. As an exploratory type of research, it seeks to gather the in depth understanding of the behaviour of a sample group. The personal opinion, values and experiences of them. It affords the opportunity to observe the participants behaviour as well as allowing the researcher to delve into the participants beliefs and really probe to obtain a greater detailed understanding of the issue. Qualitative research techniques are flexible and normally conducted in naturalistic settings using semi structured data collection methods as this accommodates the deviation to obtain that greater depth of answer. There are different types of analysis used for example, Interpretive Phenomenological Analysis, grounded theory, narrative, thematic and pattern based discourse analysis. Unlike quantitative research that use numbers as data and statistics, qualitative methods rely on words and meaning. It seeks to understand the problem rather than quantifying it placing more emphasis on subjectivity rather than objectivity.
