Dumb Ways To Die Essay
Critique on Dumb Ways To Die Target Audience: The target audience for the PSA, Dumb Ways
To Die are kids and young adults. This is because they are trying to get a message across to be
safe around trains to people who don t have common sense like kids and young adults. They are
delivering the message in a humorous way. This suggests that they do not want their target
audience to get scared; kids are more likely to get scared than older adults. If shock techniques
are used where they show realistic graphical content where people die, children would be scared
around trains and not want to go near them. So instead by adding cartoon graphical content or
animated cartoons, which are for kids mostly, then the death scenes do not look as scary as ones
aimed at adults.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Each character is like an egg that is brightly coloured and they all dance and sway to the jingle
but in a gruesome touch, they all bear the injuries of their deaths, like the grizzly bear bites the
head off of Hapless and blood spurts out. It is an horrific death but depicted in cute graphics. The
horror is made presentable. Change of Attitude / Behaviour: Dumb Ways to Die is a PSA from
Metro Trains in Melbourne in Victoria, that aims at rain safety, particularly on the points of
platform common sense and railway crossing safety. It is encouraging the safety points of
behaviour because they are two of the main causes of rail related deaths. The PSA encourages
public awareness on the dangers of going too close to the edge of railway platforms in railway
stations and of ignoring lights and boom gates at railway crossings. Effectiveness: The PSA
received 148,085,563 views in five years, suggesting it was highly popular and had video appeal.
There was however a criticism that the PSA encourages railway sucides . However, there was a
claim that the PSA led to a 20% reduction in risky behaviour; there was a counter claim that this

Essay on Ligers Informative Speech
Ligers Informative Speech
The clip you just saw is from the popular movie Napoleon Dynamite. Many of you have probably
seen it before but I bet you never thought about any of it as being factual, did you? Well, even
though the description was a bit off, ligers really do exist. According to Encyclopedia Americana,
ligers are a hybrid cross between a male lion and a female tiger (also known as a tigress). It is
nearly impossible for them to exist in the wild because most lions live in Africa and most tigers live
in Asia, however under the right circumstances they can be bred. In most cases the tiger and the
lion must be raised together to overcome any natural enmity between their species, however ligers
have also been accidental. In ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The human contact usually helps because it makes them easier to take care of when they are older
and larger, and they will get larger. Ligers are the world?s biggest cats, and they are leaning
towards gigantism. They are bigger than either parent, becoming anywhere from ten to twelve
feet in length and weighing usually near a half of a ton or more. Ligers are larger than their
parents, because according to Wikipedia encyclopedia, female lions and male tigers transmit a
growth inhibiting gene to their offspring. Being the offspring of a male lion and female tiger,
though, the liger does not have the growth inhibiting gene, and therefore they grow constantly
throughout their lives until their body cannot sustain their size anymore. The counter hybrid of
the liger, the tigon, however, is smaller than its parents because it does have the growth
inhibiting gene. Both animals are crosses between tigers and lions, however they get their name
according to what species the father is (for example, ligers have lion fathers, and tigons have
tiger fathers). Other than their large size, ligers vary in appearance depending on how their genes
interact with one and other. Usually males grow sparse manes (like those of a male lion), and the
facial ruff of a tiger. Both males and females have spotted stomachs and striped back. They roar like

Effects Of Sexually Transmitted Infections Were The Last...
Live for the nights you can t remember with the people you can t forget, that s the motto and the
mindset. As a teenager, I was fueled by risks. Anything that I could possibly get in trouble for
intrigued me. Unfortunately, I did not think about the consequences, just the thrills. Sexually
transmitted infections were the last thing I was thinking about. Those could not affect me.
When I first had sex I was 16 years old and I was in love. I trusted that 18 year old senior. He told
me he loved me and I was his first. I was naГЇve and he was manipulative. I wasn t his first or even
his last during our relationship. When I found out, we broke up. I was heartbroken. I moved on
and went on to college. During my college years I met the most incredible man ever. We went on
dates, talked, and could not get enough of each other. After we started dating, we took things
slow. A little while into our relationship, we decided that we both wanted to take it to the next
level. We decided to be responsible adults because neither of us were virgins and we wanted to
make sure we were safe. On our own time, we each got tested. I was really busy with school so
Logan went first. He got his results back and encouraged me to find the time to go. Later that day,
I made my appointment. I was scheduled for a Thursday afternoon during my lunch break. When I
went in for my appointment, I had no clue what I was in for. The doctor did all the tests and told
me she would call me back with the results.

Describe The Importance Of The Colosseum
The Colosseum
Koch, Matt
Do you know what one of the most important structures to mankind history is? The Colosseum. The
importance of the Colosseum, otherwise known originally as the Flavian Amphitheatre, was that
many of the materials, styles, and architecture were inspiring to many architects and designers
constructing today s modern facilities and structures.
The emperor of Rome at the time, Vespasian, began building the Colosseum (Flavian
Amphitheatre) in 72 AD. They believed that in ancient Rome the patron was more noble and
loyal than the architects, and the architects were just craftsmen and hired hands (Woog, 2014).
So as of today the designers and architects are unknown to the world, and will probably never be
found out about because if limited evidence. Floor plans, 3 dimensional scale models,
perspective drawings, and full size design sketches are what were used by the anonymous
architects and designers of the Colosseum (Hopkins, 2011). The site of construction was formerly
known as the Golden House, owned and lived in by Nero the Emperor. This was drained and as a
precaution against potential earthquake damage concrete foundations six metres deep were put
down to support it (Cartwright, 2012). And eight long years of hard work and design later the
Colosseum (Flavian Amphitheatre) was completed in 80 CE.
There were many materials mixed in the project of constructing the Colosseum (Flavian
Amphitheatre). The walls of the Colosseum were built with stone. They made use of a number of
arches in order to keep the weight down, but yet still keep them strong (Cartwright, 2012). The
floor of the Colosseum was wooden and usually covered in sand most of the time. But the floor
was taken out due to heavy weathering in 1674 AD. And about 19 miles outside of Rome in a little
town of Tivoli were quarries where the Romans mined there stone blocks out of to construct the
walls of the Colosseum. Some other material they had used to construct the colosseum include,
limestone brick, concrete and volcanic stone (otherwise known as tufa ), pumice stone. And
including bronze, which was used for statues around the stadium. But some parts of the colosseum
that are made of concrete are not authentic original to the

University Of Hawai пѕ пѕЄ I At Hilo
University of HawaiК»i at Hilo is in the attempt of building a Thirty Meter telescope on Mauna
Kea. To Hawaiians Mauna Kea holds a high value of historical and sacred context and should not
be disturbed. Although, the construction of the thirty meter telescope (TMT) will result in being
the most powerful telescope in the world, bringing the worlds best researchers to HawaiК»i. The
construction of TMT will also bring an estimated total of 10,000 job opportunities to HawaiК»i
(Deneen). The TMT poses a significant opportunity for astronomy on a worldwide platform;
however, the cultural significance of Mauna Kea, the environmental impact of such a project (as
TMT) and the lack of respect and management shown by the State of HawaiК»i proved that Mauna
Kea is not the appropriate site for this telescope.
In sacred records of the Hawaiian people it is said that the people are all decedents of WДЃkea Sky

New Technology from 1945s to 2000
INTRODUCTION
The post World War II era provided new opportunities for the people of United States to explore and
develop new technologies which changed the United States dramatically; for example, a treatment
for polio, space exploration, introduction to computer, advancement in weapons industry, auto
industry, and color television etc. With all the technological advancements, how did technology
change United States? The paper will discuss the technological changes that happened in each era
since 1945s to 2000. The paper will give each decade s most important technological inventions

completely changed and the spending increased which gave boost to the economy for the coming
decades.
TECHNOLOGY IN THE FIFTIES (1950 1959) The 1950s or The Fifties was a decade that was
full of events that gave new ideas and inventions. The decade was prosperous for the American
people and entrepreneurs because the economy was booming. However, as the economy was
booming still they were major conflicts associated with United States internally in the country and
externally. For example, some of the biggest conflicts were the Cold Warbetween the Soviet Union,
clashes between communism and capitalism, Korean War, Red Scare (fear of communism) in
United States. Still with all those conflicts, in United States the progress in science and technology
was on peak.
Arguably, the first greatest and most influential invention of the 20th century the Television
publicly placed for sale in markets in 1940s had originally made real maturity in the 1950s.
People started to buy large screen television sets because in the 40s there were only small
television screens. In 1952, RCA introduced the CTC 1, the first color television to utilize the
NTSC (National Television System Committee) video standard. The introductions were still too
expensive for most people in that decade; therefore, black and white

The Coop: Market Research Daryl Buckmeister was facing a difficult problem that many business
owners encounter. After much success, his quick service chicken restaurant, The Chicken Coop,
was seeing a sales decline in 20 of The Coop s 76 stores. The average decline in sales for these 20
stores was 6%. His top two managers, Anita McMichael, VP of Quality and Trevor Wallace, VP of
Marketing, were working with Buckmeister to figure out why customers weren t spending as much
money in those stores and to determine the best way to correct this problem. There were three key
parts to Buckmeister s decision: (1) should he invest in market research, and if so, (2) how much

There exists the potential of using the results of the surveys to pay bonuses to everyone from
line employees to vice presidents. Such an incentive scheme could help focus employee attention
on quality and customer satisfaction issues. The purpose of these Customer Experience Studies
would be to gather information on how customers viewed their visits to The Coop restaurants.
The program would involve using an outside company, which would hire individuals to visit
Coop restaurants and the individual would have no knowledge of who was paying for the
research. The cost of this would be approximately $20 per visit, or a total of $45,600 for an entire
year. While Wallace s ideas are expensive, they will provide The Coop with the most in depth
research. When offering recommendations, one has much to consider. Primarily, while Buckmeister
s ideas have some potential to be effective, market research cannot be approached with the mindset
of providing the business with a quick and easy fix. To truly understand consumers, both of his
options are not in depth enough and contain too small of a sample size. I think that each of
Buckmeister s ideas should be implemented as they are both relatively inexpensive (focus groups
and comment cards) but they must be supplemented by a larger and more in depth form of market
research. I believe that McMicheal s suggestion of taste tests should be eliminated from
consideration. Sales at The Coop are not

Szasz vs. Ellis
Abnormal Psychology
The Debate Dr.Szasz vs. Dr.Ellis
The debate between these two doctors was very interesting and raised many interesting questions.
The men discuss mental illness and their different opinions on the issue. While Dr. Szasz is the
creator of a very popular movement in this era, Dr. Ellis disagrees with his idea and is very
adamant about letting him know this. The debate is rather cordial to begin with, but quickly
elevates into what seems to be a very personal matter. Both doctors presented good arguments and
the audience seemed to be very intrigued by what they had to say. Dr. Ellis s argumentthroughout
the debate is mostly a response to the theory put forth by Dr. Szasz. All of his points and
contentions are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The field of psychology was affected greatly by this debate. While I do feel that Dr. Szasz won
the debate, I agree with Dr. Ellis. His argument is more defensive and, in my opinion, not as well
prepared, but still, I agree with the fact that mental illnesses do exist. There are certainly people in
society who have mental illness, and need the help of psychologists, and in some cases,
medication. The example of criminals by Dr. Ellis is a perfect example of this. From my
personal experience, I certainly believe that there are criminals who are mentally ill. Both of my
parents work at a federal prison facility, and have worked there for a number of years. From the
things they have shared with me, and the things I have personally observed, I certainly feel that
there are mental illnesses in our society. While everyone may be somewhat irrational and self
destructive, there are members of society that display these attributes much more clearly than
others. These people, in my opinion, can be classified as mentally ill.
I feel like this debate was great for the field of psychology. Regardless of who won, or what some
people may or may not believe, the debate raised many important questions that helped the field of
psychology grow. Along with the field as a whole, many specific

China s Most Strapping Religion
Desha Fleureme July 10, 2015 Taoism China s most strapping religion, Taoism is an ancient
tradition of philosophy and religious beliefs that have been deeply rooted within the Chinese
customs. It can also be referred to as Daoism, which is a more accurate way of saying the
Chinese word in English. The Tao in Taoism is usually translated as the Way. Despite the
unknown of what the Tao really means, it upholds a significant importance to the universe in the
warmest regards. It is very difficult to determine the number of Taoist in the world, especially in
the mainland of China where religion was outlawed under the strict communist rule. However, it is
estimated to have the range from 30 million to 300 million followers in China alone. Many Taoist
followers are located in small communities of Hong Kong, Taiwan, Japan and in Southeast Asia that
make up a significant portion of the 21st century population. Nearly 2000 years ago, Taoism was
created. However, the date it was founded on is obscure. During the 4th and 3rd centuries BCE,
Taoism was acknowledged by the religious system. Amongst the first, is the Celestial Master of the
first organized school of thought, Zhang Daoling. To date, there is a current Celestial Master that
lives in Taiwan, Tianshi Dao. Most Taoist ideas come from the Chinese schools of thought.
Unfortunately, there is not an accurate way to distinguish between the ideas that are fundamentally
Taoist and those that Taoism took from other religions,

According to Jews in Israel the biggest long term problem that their country is facing is that they
were more likely to cite economic concerns (such as Israel s high cost of living, or a shortage of
affordable housing in Tel Aviv and other cities) as they were to mention military or national
security issues (such as terror attacks or Iran s nuclear program). This belief that Israel s biggest
problem is the economy is a belief between Jews in Israel, however American Jews have a
completely different perspective into Israel s long term problem. When American Jews were
asked what the long term problem, fully two thirds cited a military or security issue, and hardly
any (1%) mentioned economic difficulties. What this shows is a separation in how American
Jews and Israeli Jews view the government, or American Jews do not know the struggle that the
Jews are facing in Israel. Another problem that American and Israel Jews disagree on is the range
of political issues concerning the State of Israel and the peace process. While Israeli Jews are
skeptical that Israel and an independent Palestinian state can peacefully coexist, most American
Jews are optimistic that a two state solution is possible. These two different perspectives is
something that is eroding and segregating the Jewish people, it is two different societies that each

Sunrise On The Veld Analysis
In Ms. McDonald s classroom, one learns that what you have does not define who you are. Even
though you have more or less than someone does not mean they are any better or worse than you.
When it comes to Linda s English 11 course you are put in the role of everything from a king to a
little boy in Africa.
In the story of Macbeth William Shakespeare reviews a story of a man named Macbeth who
wanted to become King, he wanted so bad to be king that he went to the extremes of killing his
cousin to get there. It all starts with a couple of witches that tell him that one day he will become
the King. he soon starts to want that title so bad that he is willing to kill for it. When the time finally
comes for Macbeth to be crowned King, he gets exactly what he wants a crown and a thrown.
Months go by and even though his name is King Macbeth, it does not make him a noble ruler fit
for the title of King as he is not loved and respected by the people he must rule over. Even though
he has a castle he is not the person that should own the castle. This tyrant, whose sole name blisters
our tongues. (102) this quote shows just how much Macbeth s people despise their ruler.
The short story Sunrise on the Veld Lessing Doris. Describes a young boy who is completely free
in a sense that he can go absolutely anywhere he wants to go. One morning he wakes up free and
full of spirit. there is nothing I can t become, nothing I can t do; there is no country in the world I

Part I Setting the Stage with Grant Basics Chapter one helped clarify grant terminology that I

useful because I now have a better understanding of what certain grants are looking for and the
grant language that is needed. This chapter also helped me learn how to set up a plan for keeping
track of the grants I am working on and helped set up the process. The second chapter goes over
how to create and complete fundingplans for each grant. It stresses that without a plan it is difficult
to have a successful grant process. This chapter has useful suggestions on what to look for within an

individuals. This chapter will probably not benefit my work at the Conservancy but it was
interesting to see the types of individual grants that are available and where to look for them. The
eighth chapter covers international grants and funding. I m not sure while working for this chapter
I will use this information but once again it was useful to know that there are resources out there to
help with these types of grants if I ever need them.
Part III Playing by the rules of the Grants Game
Chapters nine and ten are chapters that will help me prepare and write what the reviewers of
government grants are looking for. Each of these chapters covered tips that helped me learn what
to look for while looking for grants. This information will help me know which grants are going
to be right or wrong for our organization based on the qualifications. It was interesting to read that
some grants have picky qualifications and long processes before even submitting a request; while
other grants have quick and easy forms to fill out. It also stressed that with grant writing it is
important to follow all rules and read all guidelines. If you miss something that the grant reviewer
wants you can lose your funding request. The eleventh chapter was interesting because

Death is all around you, what do you do? Valley Forge was a winter camp in 1777 to 1778 for the

Advantages Of Communicative Approach
How can the Communicative Approach along with Modern Day Communication Technology
Influence Language and Literacy Development?
Abstract
Although many language educators have surmised that the communicative method along with the
aid of technology is effective in language acquisition, the findings on the use of modern day
technology along with the communicative approach seem to be inconclusive.
According to UNESCO, in the world today there are about 1 billion non literate adults. This 1
billion is approximately 26 percent of the world s adult population. Illiteracy is the inability to
speak or write and it stifles language development. Since the twenty first century, there has been an

M. (2010). Internet Use and Child Development: Validation of the Ecological Techno Subsystem.
Educational
Technology Society, 13 (1), 176 185.
Johnson and Puplampu recently proposed the ecological techno subsystem, a refinement to
Bronfenbrenner s theoretical organization of environmental influences on child development. The
ecological techno subsystem includes child interaction with both living (e.g., peers) and nonliving
(e.g., hardware) elements of communication, information, and recreation technologies in immediate
or direct environments.
Imperial data for this study was collected using a questionnaire that was issued to 128 parents to
give information about their children cognitive development and the use of technology at home.
This investigation reveals that, the home internet use accounted for more of the variance in
children s cognitive development than did indices of socioeconomic status. The ecological techno
subsystem furthers our understanding of environmental influences on child development by
emphasizing the impact of digital technologies on cognitive growth during childhood. Generations

Texting And Driving Distraction Essay
Distractions Driving is a limited freedom that should always be done in a safe manner in order
for everyone to be safe. Problems with young drivers can cause many people to lose their safety,
which can ultimately lead those young drivers to lose their license. Driving while distracted is
definitely one of the leading causes for problems, such as crashes, for the young people who are
just beginning to drive. There is an uncountable amount of distractions that cause problems for
young drivers. In 2013, about ten percent of all fatal crashes with drivers between the ages of
fifteen and nineteen were due to a distracted driver ( Texting and Driving). A phone is probably one
of the greatest distractions for a young driver. The phone could easily be the single greatest
distraction for young drivers because of its many uses. It has many qualities that create

Billy s Top Trait By Billy Essay
Throughout the semester, Billy took on a vocal yet non leadership role. The biggest drawback of
Billy s participation was his frequent absences. Billy s top trait according to StrengthQuest is
Competition. I think Billy strongly showed Competition in both positive and negative ways. In
both BizCafe and other minor activities, competition acted as a motivator for Billy, being more
engaged when more was on the line. This was a benefit in direct competition, like the dice
stacking game early on in the semester. The competition with others helped Billy focus,
brainstorming new ideas and strategies to defeat the other groups. However, this became a
drawback when less was on the line. In more straightforward activities, like creating an
advertisement for hiring employees, Billy would be less creative and less engaged when there was
no competition. In non competitive scenarios, Billy would complete his part of the workand
contribute, but he would be less driven and less creative.
While displaying some traits of Initiator Contributor, I think Billy s main role in our group was
Energizer. Having a gregarious personality, Billy naturally adds energy to group work. This was
most evident in highly collaborative group work like weekly BizCafe decisions. When Billy was
in class and engaged, he helped us stay on topic and try to find the best solution. He did this
primarily by supporting the strategies of others. A recent example of this was our decision for
week eleven in BizCafe. When

Exploring the Foreclosure Crisis Essay examples
Mortgage. The word stems from the old French phrase mort gaige, which loosely translates into
dead pledge. Truth in title, it precisely sums up its bearing on modern homeowners. In order to
fully grasp the weight and severity of the former statement, a thorough definition must be produced.
A mortgage is a debt and/or pledge, which cannot be expunged under ordinary circumstances. Its
demise depends upon one of two occurrences, the first being its payoff. The other option is
payment failure otherwise known as foreclosure. The latter seems to be an unsettling staple of
society in America and abroad, thus fulfilling its namely obligation. More and more homes are
going into foreclosure, leaving an equal amount of homeowners to face the... Show more content on

To fully rectify this issue, we must root out the cause and begin the rehabilitation of its very
foundations, foundations being the operative word. The foundations are basically every participant
in the world of mortgage and real estate, but the most prominent characters are appraisers,
realtors, banks and surprisingly homeowners. This scenario was the product of a greedy,
corruption filled industry sponsoring a trickle down effect. Greed and corruption play obvious
key roles in this particular transpiration. They are counterparts for all parties involved. For
example, homeowners know that wealth equals power, as professed by the materialistic culture
created by ourselves. In order to (please pardon the colloquialism) keep up with the Joneses, one
must have a big house, a big car and so on and so forth. However, big houses cost big money,
which a lot of people don t have. So prospective homeowners tend to lie on loan applications, in
order to live beyond their means, and purchase homes that are far too expensive for their actual
financial situation. Appraisers and realtors had a hand in determining the price of these homes,
often doing so in an unorthodox fashion. Appraisers used false advertisement or rather false
estimation in calculating the value of these homes, resulting in gross inaccuracies. Realtors upheld
their friends by listing these homes at their

Enlightenment Influence On The French Revolution
The French Revolution was a period of far reaching social and political change in France that lasted
from 1789 to 1799. Before the revolution there was a period of time called the Enlightenment. The
Enlightenment was a philosophical movement in which followers considered that human reason
brought a move from theory to practice and criticism to reforming education, household
administration, social reactions and politics. Voltaire, a French philosopher and contributor to the
Age of Enlightenment, expressed these ideas utilizing his intelligence, wit and style to mark his
name as one of France s greatest writers. The Enlightenment influenced the French Revolution to a
great extent by introducing new ideas that encouraged questioning of authority and religion,
advancing people s outlook on commodities, and forcing citizens to compare their need with the
Republic s needs. This further brought an uprising of people wanting more such as equality and
civil rights. In the process to do so there were 250,000 casualties in the Reign of Terror followed the
Thermidorian Reaction which implemented an oligarchy government called the Directory. Royalist
riots prompted the Coup d etat of Fructidor which brought Napoleon into Directory which he later
overthrows and creates an Authoritarian Republic. The ideas of equality and rights to men which
were stressed by Enlightenment philosophers are all incorporated into documents 1,4 and 5.

Ancient Celtic History
I agree with the quote history is written by the victor (Winston Churchill) as it is something true
about history. Not only do the victors get to write history but they also get to hide or even eliminate
some or all of an event. The victor is the one who ultimately gets to burn the other side s history,
their knowledge or discoveries, libraries, and their culture. The victor will most likely enslave or
execute the loser bringing their buildings, towns, and cities down to the ground. An example that
highlights the truth behind this quote is the elimination of the Celtic civilization. Who were the
Celts? is stated in the article Ancient Celtic historythis suggests that with what the Romans have

Celtic people were written by Roman and Greek historians so why if the Celtic civilization was
well developed and had a written language are there almost no records written by them? The
answer is because once they were forced under Roman rule the Romans took it upon themselves as
the victor to eliminate their culture, their language, and advances. Not having many records written
by the loser would allow the Romans or the victor to write history depicting the loser or in this case
the Celts as they pleased and would allow them to hide certain events to their convenience. Another
example that supports the quote history is written by the victor is the Renaissance. Until recently it

Cleansing is important but shampooing is not
Traditional shampoos are on the list of products to avoid if you are trying to grow and maintain
healthy natural hair. Traditional shampoos use sulfates to cleanse hair and sulfates are extremely
drying to natural hair. Since the health of natural hair depends largely on how moisturized it is, the
types of cleansers are avoided by many naturals. There are many alternate cleansers including mud

Importance Of Depository Receipt Is A Negotiable...
INTRODUCTION
The past few decades have witnessed the increased internationalization of various firms through
cross listings on international exchanges. This has been facilitated by market liberalisation, which
has led to greater integration of global securities markets. Cross border listing has become one of
the avenues for the integration of global securities markets.
There are two forms of cross border listing, namely, direct listing and indirect listing. Direct listing
implies that the firm concerned offers ordinary shares to the public. Indirect listing on exchanges
is through Depository Receipts (DRs). Depository receipt is a negotiable certificate issued by a
bank in a domestic country that represent ownership of shares in companies of other countries.
Cross listing, particularly through DRs such as American Depositary Receipts (ADRs) or Global
Depositary Receipts (GDRs), is a popular way of internationalisation among firms from emerging
economies. In addition to Europe and America, International firms are allowed to cross list in other
countries through the DR programme.
There could be several reasons for a domestic company to cross list, such as an expanding investor
base, the desire to improve stock liquidity through its highly liquid secondary market, the
increasing visibility of the company, a growing customer base, and the wish to take advantage of
higher valuations. From the perspective of investors, cross listing mitigates some

After reading chapter 11 of our textbook, there were three important topics that stood out to me. The
first topic that I thought was interesting was the purposes of assessments. According to Carjuzaa

strengths and weaknesses, assess the effectiveness of a particular instruction strategy, assess and
improve the effectiveness of curriculum programs, assess and improve teaching effectiveness, to

The three stage process of assessing a student s achievement is diagnostic assessments, formative
assessment, and summative assessment. Diagnostic assessment is the assessment of the student s
knowledge and skills before the new instruction. Formative assessment is the assessment of learning
during the instruction and summative assessment is the assessment of learning after the instruction,
ultimately represented by the student s final term, semester, or year s achievement grade (Carjuzaa
Kellough, 2017, pg. 340). For example, in a physical education class, there can be a unit on golf and
the diagnostic assessment for this unit can be to have students try to hit the golf ball without any

Following that, the teacher will give lessons on different types of swings and throughout these

Babylon Short Story Summary
Babylon Short Story
Tyree Turner, David Gebhart, Raul Garcia
In the year 1792 B.C. Babylon introduced their sixth king of Babylon Empire, King Hammurabi
who assumed the throne from his father Sin Muballit. The rule of Hammurabi and his strict, often
extreme no tolerance policy had begun. Though his punishments of the accused and guilty
occasionally seemed appropriate, many felt Hammurabi s methods were inhumane although his
intentions give the impression that it was in good spirit. As the sun began to set behind the temple
to Marduk the induction ceremony of the new King of Babylon presented his power to rule by
introducing the list of laws that were set to be effective immediately. Here, Hammurabi
proclaims that he wants to make justice visible in the land, to destroy the wicked person and the
evil doer, that the strong might not injure the weak. He goes on to say that the laws themselves
uphold compassion, and protect widows, orphans and others from being harmed or exploited by
those seeking to take advantage of those who may not be able to defend themselves. Hammurabi
clearly understood that to accomplish his goal, he needed one universal set of laws for all of the
diverse peoples he conquered. Therefore, he made aware to his subjects that prior to his ascension
to king that he sent legal experts throughout his kingdom to gather existing laws. These laws were
revised and some were changed or disregarded before compiling his final list of 282 laws.

At one point in time God mandated man and animal to eat solely from the earth. Perhaps in one
of the western world s oldest and most influential and powerful texts, there was reasoning for the
implied notion of equality. He creates man and woman at a synchronized point in time, on the
same day he creates all other earthly creatures again at the same time. He gives the same
instructions and blessings to animals as he does to man and woman he says, God blessed them
saying, be fruitful and multiply (Genesis, 1:22, 28). He also instructs both man and animal that the
earth is a food source for all. The text implies that animal and human are created and instructed in
an analogous fashion, as equal inhabitants of the earth, similar to the ideal against speciesism, that
all of God s creatures or earth inhabitants desire the equal right to life.
The same texts that seems to imply the guidelines of animal equality, is the main source of the
Judeo Christian faith. In my lifetime, I have never witnessed someone sitting down at a dinner table

In form, The Tall T is a fairly straightforward melodrama, utilizing familiar stock characters such as
the ignoble swindler, the naГЇve woman, the honorable bandit leader, and most importantly the
cowboy hero forced into the role of gunfighter and man of action by desperate circumstances. In
these respects, The Tall T, though produced in 1957, is representative of the great massof simplistic,
histrionic filmswhich constituted the majority of the Western genre output during the 1920s through
the 1950s; the film is perhaps even an exemplar of the subgenre, as director Budd Boetticher most
likely drew upon the most typical of the accumulated conventions of the B Western for inspiration.

On the ethical plane, the level of this preГ«minence is such that it manifests itself as a tangible
aura Frank, the bandit leader, is drawn towards Brennan, even coming right out and saying, I don t
know why I like you, Brennan, in an unconscious recognition of virtue; the woman implicitly trusts
Brennan from the moment he hitches a ride on her stagecoach. As far as physical supremacy is
concerned, the gunfighting scenes in the movie are few, but once Brennan finally gets his hands on
a gun, the battle is as good as over Brennan s marksmanship is clearly superior even to Chingo s. In
sum, once Brennan has been caught up in the dramatic situation of the film, he is unquestionably in
control of his fate, even in captivity.
And yet this unquestionable dominance is plausible only with an equally unquestioning credulity
in the internal logic of the film; the viewer must exert considerable suspension of disbelief in
order for The Tall T to work as it was intended. Such willing involvement is simply acceptance of a
genre s prevailing conventions; Edward Buscombe, in his introduction to The BFI Companion to

least another country (16). However, the world of the Western is hardly homogeneous and separate;

Hedge Funds And Hedge Fund
Hedge Funds are actively managed instruments with flexible mandates that allow fund managers to
invest opportunistically in long and short positions across all asset classes.
This type of investment vehicle has existed for over half a century. The first hedge fund was
created by Alfred Winslow Jones in 1949.
His strategy, while simple, had never been used in the asset management world. His idea was to
buy stocks which seemed undervalued and short those which presented the worst outlook. This
strategy allowed him to protect himself against a fall in the equity markets. He later started using
leverage in order to improve his returns by taking additional risk.

ii) Equity Hedge Funds:
a) What are the different subcategories?
We are mostly interested by the classic equity hedge funds, also known as long short funds, and
more specifically we would like to know how they differ from long only funds in terms of
performance and risk.
As we have mentioned above, this is the oldest hedge fund investment style but it comes in many
different forms: quantitative or fundamental, broadly diversified or highly concentrated, market
neutral or directional. Furthermore, some strategies use more leverage and focus on individual
market sectors or factors.
In their paper, Hedge Funds with style , Brown and Goetzmann (2001) have described the most
popular strategies used by hedge funds and furthermore they have tried explaining the impact of
the different styles on performance. They looked at the performance of each strategy, from 1989 to
2000, and learned that the choice of style impacts returns circa 20 percent of the time. This would
in turn have an effect on the risk return trade off, stressing how crucial the fund s style and
management are.
They have used statistical models (regressions and ANOVA tables) to analyze the variability
between the performances of seventeen fund strategies. The results revealed that eight of those
styles had high RВІ and adjusted RВІ, meaning that changes in the style explained most of

Lotus Car Rental Alternative Fuel Proposal
Combustion engine vehicles have come a long way, especially since conventional vehicles are
reaching upwards of 30 miles per gallon. Conventional vehicles have only grown more reliable
over the past few decades, and continue to improve with each passing year. Due to these
advancements, many would agree that there is no reason to switch over to new alternative fuel
vehicles. However, Lotus Car Rental should add 100 alternative fuel vehicles to its fleet, placing
50 vehicles in Boston, MA and 50 vehicles in Los Angeles, CA. in order to maximize profit.
Alternative Vehicles
There are many types of alternative ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

with a high quality charger the battery can charge up to 80% in 30 minutes (United States

of the United States.
The recommended hybrid vehicle is the Toyota Prius c. The manufacturer s suggested retail price
is $18,950, and it drives 53 city miles and 46 highway miles per gallon (Clean Cities, 2013). This
vehicle is the most similar to the conventional vehicles the company currently owns, and it does not
require any special fuel or charging stations or any operational training.
The recommended flex fuel vehicle is the Ford Focus with a manufacturer s suggested retail
price of $16,200. While this vehicle is utilizing regular gasoline it runs for 27 city miles and 38
highway miles per gallon; however, when it is utilizing E85 the miles per gallon drop to 20 city
miles and 28 highway miles per gallon (Clean Cities, 2013). E85 refueling locations are mainly

The Roles Of Nero And The Legacy Of Emperor Nero
Emperor Nero, born Lucius Domitius Ahenobarbus on December 15, 37, passed from this world
June 9, 68 from a self inflicted stab wound to the throat. He is survived by his two wives and his
loyal slaves who helped him escape Rome before he was to be arrested and executed (Commire,
1994). Those citizens of the Roman Empirethat died prior to the arranged murder of Neros mother,
Agrippina the Younger, would have known Nero as a kind and generous ruler who banned the
death penalty and reduced taxes. A progressive thinker, Emperor Nero even allowed slaves to
report harsh masters to the courts. He would also be remembered as a patron to the arts who
began contests in poetry, theater, and athletics to replace the blood sports that he had banned. (
Nero , 2017) Unfortunately, history would not remember Nero so kindly. Beginning with the
stabbing of his mother in 59, the reign of Nero was to be one of scandal and tyranny. Unlucky in
love, Nero had his wife/step sister, Octavia, exiled and murdered in 62. He did this to pursue the
affections of the wife of a senator, Poppaea Sabina. After having forcing a divorce from her
husband, they were happily married the following year, 63. This marriage lasted for two years
until Nero kicked Poppaea in the stomach, while she was with child, that ultimately killed her
(Commire, 1994). He then fixed upon the idea of marrying Statilia Messalina and promptly had
her husband killed. The following year, he also married a young boy named

The Goal Of A Landing Page
The Goal of a Landing Page You spend valuable time and energy on marketing your products or
services. You probably use tactics like email marketing, social media marketing, and content
marketing. Each tactic is designed to drive traffic to your website where they will then become
followers, prospects, and hopefully customers. However, if you re sending all of your website
visitors to the same page then you may be missing out. And if that same page is a home page or
even a blog post then that too can be a cause for lost revenue. Enter the landing page... A landing
page is a website page that has one singular goal. Unlike a home page that may have multiple
goals and options for your visitor to choose from, your landing page has one goal. There are a
few different options for a landing page. Landing page goals can include capturing your visitors
email address. It can also capture their attention and direct them to click through to a sales page
and a landing page may also sell a product. So what s the difference between a landing page, a
sales page, and a squeeze page/opt in page? A landing page is called that because it s where a
specific audience lands. You can have a landing page for your email subscribers and a different
landing page (that may sell the same thing) for your social media followers. Landing pages give
you the ability and the power to craft customized content for each unique marketing tactic and each
segment of your audience. So you can use your landing page to

  • 2. Dumb Ways To Die Essay Critique on Dumb Ways To Die Target Audience: The target audience for the PSA, Dumb Ways To Die are kids and young adults. This is because they are trying to get a message across to be safe around trains to people who don t have common sense like kids and young adults. They are delivering the message in a humorous way. This suggests that they do not want their target audience to get scared; kids are more likely to get scared than older adults. If shock techniques are used where they show realistic graphical content where people die, children would be scared around trains and not want to go near them. So instead by adding cartoon graphical content or animated cartoons, which are for kids mostly, then the death scenes do not look as scary as ones aimed at adults.... Change of Attitude / Behaviour: Dumb Ways to Die is a PSA from Metro Trains in Melbourne in Victoria, that aims at rain safety, particularly on the points of platform common sense and railway crossing safety. It is encouraging the safety points of behaviour because they are two of the main causes of rail related deaths. The PSA encourages public awareness on the dangers of going too close to the edge of railway platforms in railway stations and of ignoring lights and boom gates at railway crossings. Many of you have probably seen it before but I bet you never thought about any of it as being factual, did you? Well, even though the description was a bit off, ligers really do exist. According to Encyclopedia Americana, ligers are a hybrid cross between a male lion and a female tiger (also known as a tigress). It is nearly impossible for them to exist in the wild because most lions live in Africa and most tigers live in Asia, however under the right circumstances they can be bred. In most cases the tiger and the lion must be raised together to overcome any natural enmity between their species, however ligers have also been accidental. In ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The human contact usually helps because it makes them easier to take care of when they are older and larger, and they will get larger. Ligers are the world?s biggest cats, and they are leaning towards gigantism. They are bigger than either parent, becoming anywhere from ten to twelve feet in length and weighing usually near a half of a ton or more. Ligers are larger than their parents, because according to Wikipedia encyclopedia, female lions and male tigers transmit a growth inhibiting gene to their offspring. Being the offspring of a male lion and female tiger, though, the liger does not have the growth inhibiting gene, and therefore they grow constantly throughout their lives until their body cannot sustain their size anymore. The counter hybrid of the liger, the tigon, however, is smaller than its parents because it does have the growth inhibiting gene. Both animals are crosses between tigers and lions, however they get their name according to what species the father is (for example, ligers have lion fathers, and tigons have tiger fathers). Other than their large size, ligers vary in appearance depending on how their genes interact with one and other. Usually males grow sparse manes (like those of a male lion), and the facial ruff of a tiger. Both males and females have spotted stomachs and striped back. They roar like ... As a teenager, I was fueled by risks. Anything that I could possibly get in trouble for intrigued me. Unfortunately, I did not think about the consequences, just the thrills. Sexually transmitted infections were the last thing I was thinking about. Those could not affect me. When I first had sex I was 16 years old and I was in love. I trusted that 18 year old senior. He told me he loved me and I was his first. I was naГЇve and he was manipulative. I wasn t his first or even his last during our relationship. When I found out, we broke up. I was heartbroken. I moved on and went on to college. During my college years I met the most incredible man ever. We went on dates, talked, and could not get enough of each other. After we started dating, we took things slow. A little while into our relationship, we decided that we both wanted to take it to the next level. We decided to be responsible adults because neither of us were virgins and we wanted to make sure we were safe. On our own time, we each got tested. I was really busy with school so Logan went first. He got his results back and encouraged me to find the time to go. Later that day, I made my appointment. I was scheduled for a Thursday afternoon during my lunch break. • 5. Describe The Importance Of The Colosseum The Colosseum Koch, Matt Do you know what one of the most important structures to mankind history is? The Colosseum. The importance of the Colosseum, otherwise known originally as the Flavian Amphitheatre, was that many of the materials, styles, and architecture were inspiring to many architects and designers constructing today s modern facilities and structures. The emperor of Rome at the time, Vespasian, began building the Colosseum (Flavian Amphitheatre) in 72 AD. They believed that in ancient Rome the patron was more noble and loyal than the architects, and the architects were just craftsmen and hired hands (Woog, 2014). So as of today the designers and architects are unknown to the world, and will probably never be found out about because if limited evidence. Floor plans, 3 dimensional scale models, perspective drawings, and full size design sketches are what were used by the anonymous architects and designers of the Colosseum (Hopkins, 2011). The site of construction was formerly known as the Golden House, owned and lived in by Nero the Emperor. This was drained and as a precaution against potential earthquake damage concrete foundations six metres deep were put down to support it (Cartwright, 2012). And eight long years of hard work and design later the Colosseum (Flavian Amphitheatre) was completed in 80 CE. There were many materials mixed in the project of constructing the Colosseum (Flavian Amphitheatre). The walls of the Colosseum were built with stone. They made use of a number of arches in order to keep the weight down, but yet still keep them strong (Cartwright, 2012). The floor of the Colosseum was wooden and usually covered in sand most of the time. But the floor was taken out due to heavy weathering in 1674 AD. And about 19 miles outside of Rome in a little town of Tivoli were quarries where the Romans mined there stone blocks out of to construct the walls of the Colosseum. Some other material they had used to construct the colosseum include, limestone brick, concrete and volcanic stone (otherwise known as tufa ), pumice stone. And including bronze, which was used for statues around the stadium. But some parts of the colosseum that are made of concrete are not authentic original to the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

His top two managers, Anita McMichael, VP of Quality and Trevor Wallace, VP of Marketing, were working with Buckmeister to figure out why customers weren t spending as much money in those stores and to determine the best way to correct this problem. There exists the potential of using the results of the surveys to pay bonuses to everyone from line employees to vice presidents. Such an incentive scheme could help focus employee attention on quality and customer satisfaction issues. The purpose of these Customer Experience Studies would be to gather information on how customers viewed their visits to The Coop restaurants. The program would involve using an outside company, which would hire individuals to visit Coop restaurants and the individual would have no knowledge of who was paying for the research. The cost of this would be approximately $20 per visit, or a total of $45,600 for an entire year. While Wallace s ideas are expensive, they will provide The Coop with the most in depth research. When offering recommendations, one has much to consider. Primarily, while Buckmeister s ideas have some potential to be effective, market research cannot be approached with the mindset of providing the business with a quick and easy fix. To truly understand consumers, both of his options are not in depth enough and contain too small of a sample size. I think that each of Buckmeister s ideas should be implemented as they are both relatively inexpensive (focus groups and comment cards) but they must be supplemented by a larger and more in depth form of market research. His argument is more defensive and, in my opinion, not as well prepared, but still, I agree with the fact that mental illnesses do exist. There are certainly people in society who have mental illness, and need the help of psychologists, and in some cases, medication. The example of criminals by Dr. Ellis is a perfect example of this. From my personal experience, I certainly believe that there are criminals who are mentally ill. Both of my parents work at a federal prison facility, and have worked there for a number of years. From the things they have shared with me, and the things I have personally observed, I certainly feel that there are mental illnesses in our society. While everyone may be somewhat irrational and self destructive, there are members of society that display these attributes much more clearly than others. These people, in my opinion, can be classified as mentally ill. I feel like this debate was great for the field of psychology. It can also be referred to as Daoism, which is a more accurate way of saying the Chinese word in English. The Tao in Taoism is usually translated as the Way. Despite the unknown of what the Tao really means, it upholds a significant importance to the universe in the warmest regards. It is very difficult to determine the number of Taoist in the world, especially in the mainland of China where religion was outlawed under the strict communist rule. However, it is estimated to have the range from 30 million to 300 million followers in China alone. Many Taoist followers are located in small communities of Hong Kong, Taiwan, Japan and in Southeast Asia that make up a significant portion of the 21st century population. Nearly 2000 years ago, Taoism was created. However, the date it was founded on is obscure. During the 4th and 3rd centuries BCE, Taoism was acknowledged by the religious system. Amongst the first, is the Celestial Master of the first organized school of thought, Zhang Daoling. To date, there is a current Celestial Master that lives in Taiwan, Tianshi Dao. Even though you have more or less than someone does not mean they are any better or worse than you. When it comes to Linda s English 11 course you are put in the role of everything from a king to a little boy in Africa. In the story of Macbeth William Shakespeare reviews a story of a man named Macbeth who wanted to become King, he wanted so bad to be king that he went to the extremes of killing his cousin to get there. It all starts with a couple of witches that tell him that one day he will become the King. he soon starts to want that title so bad that he is willing to kill for it. When the time finally comes for Macbeth to be crowned King, he gets exactly what he wants a crown and a thrown. Months go by and even though his name is King Macbeth, it does not make him a noble ruler fit for the title of King as he is not loved and respected by the people he must rule over. Even though he has a castle he is not the person that should own the castle. This tyrant, whose sole name blisters our tongues. (102) this quote shows just how much Macbeth s people despise their ruler. The short story Sunrise on the Veld Lessing Doris. • 20. Billy s Top Trait By Billy Essay Throughout the semester, Billy took on a vocal yet non leadership role. The biggest drawback of Billy s participation was his frequent absences. Billy s top trait according to StrengthQuest is Competition. I think Billy strongly showed Competition in both positive and negative ways. In both BizCafe and other minor activities, competition acted as a motivator for Billy, being more engaged when more was on the line. This was a benefit in direct competition, like the dice stacking game early on in the semester. The competition with others helped Billy focus, brainstorming new ideas and strategies to defeat the other groups. However, this became a drawback when less was on the line. In more straightforward activities, like creating an advertisement for hiring employees, Billy would be less creative and less engaged when there was no competition. In non competitive scenarios, Billy would complete his part of the workand contribute, but he would be less driven and less creative. While displaying some traits of Initiator Contributor, I think Billy s main role in our group was Energizer. Having a gregarious personality, Billy naturally adds energy to group work. This was most evident in highly collaborative group work like weekly BizCafe decisions. When Billy was in class and engaged, he helped us stay on topic and try to find the best solution. He did this primarily by supporting the strategies of others. A recent example of this was our decision for week eleven in BizCafe. When ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

A mortgage is a debt and/or pledge, which cannot be expunged under ordinary circumstances. Its demise depends upon one of two occurrences, the first being its payoff. The foundations are basically every participant in the world of mortgage and real estate, but the most prominent characters are appraisers, realtors, banks and surprisingly homeowners. This scenario was the product of a greedy, corruption filled industry sponsoring a trickle down effect. Greed and corruption play obvious key roles in this particular transpiration. They are counterparts for all parties involved. For example, homeowners know that wealth equals power, as professed by the materialistic culture created by ourselves. In order to (please pardon the colloquialism) keep up with the Joneses, one must have a big house, a big car and so on and so forth. However, big houses cost big money, which a lot of people don t have. So prospective homeowners tend to lie on loan applications, in order to live beyond their means, and purchase homes that are far too expensive for their actual financial situation. This has been facilitated by market liberalisation, which has led to greater integration of global securities markets. Cross border listing has become one of the avenues for the integration of global securities markets. There are two forms of cross border listing, namely, direct listing and indirect listing. Direct listing implies that the firm concerned offers ordinary shares to the public. Indirect listing on exchanges is through Depository Receipts (DRs). Depository receipt is a negotiable certificate issued by a bank in a domestic country that represent ownership of shares in companies of other countries. Cross listing, particularly through DRs such as American Depositary Receipts (ADRs) or Global Depositary Receipts (GDRs), is a popular way of internationalisation among firms from emerging economies. In addition to Europe and America, International firms are allowed to cross list in other countries through the DR programme. There could be several reasons for a domestic company to cross list, such as an expanding investor base, the desire to improve stock liquidity through its highly liquid secondary market, the increasing visibility of the company, a growing customer base, and the wish to take advantage of higher valuations. Babylon introduced their sixth king of Babylon Empire, King Hammurabi who assumed the throne from his father Sin Muballit. The rule of Hammurabi and his strict, often extreme no tolerance policy had begun. Though his punishments of the accused and guilty occasionally seemed appropriate, many felt Hammurabi s methods were inhumane although his intentions give the impression that it was in good spirit. Here, Hammurabi proclaims that he wants to make justice visible in the land, to destroy the wicked person and the evil doer, that the strong might not injure the weak. He goes on to say that the laws themselves uphold compassion, and protect widows, orphans and others from being harmed or exploited by those seeking to take advantage of those who may not be able to defend themselves. Hammurabi clearly understood that to accomplish his goal, he needed one universal set of laws for all of the diverse peoples he conquered.
