Meetings, meetings everywhere but not an agenda to be found! (Gatto, 2016)
Ahh, Meetings: the great alternative to work. As conventional wisdom goes, if you want to be busy, do nothing, produce little to nothing, and yet get paid, set up and attend meetings.
The presentation was a workshop at Evolve 2014: the annual event for the voluntary sector in London on Monday 16 June 2014.
The presentation was given by Ian Joseph, Chief Executive (Trustees Unlimited) and Nigel Kippax, Consultant (NCVO). In this workshop decision making issues facing the board are discussed and appetite for risk.

Ahh, Meetings: the great alternative to work. As conventional wisdom goes, if you want to be busy, do nothing, produce little to nothing, and yet get paid, set up and attend meetings.
Large companies spend millions of dollars on SAP, ERP, Quality, and ISO processes, but do these practices really work? Or, are they like the latest medical wonder drug before the recall because of bad side effects? Such processes can create an approach to work but they only work equal to the leadership’s ability to implement and utilize the process intelligently and appropriately. How do you intelligently and appropriately implement these processes through meetings?
Choosing The Right Approach For Running A Great Board MeetingAvalon Ventures
There are many different ways to run a board meeting, and it’s important to choose a style and approach that works best for you. It’s important to talk to other CEOs to learn what has worked best for them. It may also be useful for you to consult with the other directors on your board to understand their preferences. The frequency and structure of your board meetings will need to evolve as the business grows and becomes more complicated, more formal, and harder to manage. This deck is for entrepreneurs as part of a series of observations and tips on building an effective board.

WEBINAR: How Leaders Support and Build a Culture of Process ImprovementGoLeanSixSigma.com
Tools are important for problem-solvers, but what about leaders? What do they have in their toolkit to help build problem solvers?
In this webinar, we'll discuss actions, mindsets and tools leaders have to support and build a culture of process improvement!
In this 1-hour webinar, we will cover the 4 key leader roles in building a continuous improvement culture:
- Create ideal conditions
- Build problem-solving muscles
- Identify key leader responsibilities
- Strategize on the 4 components of Lean culture
Managers sometimes find team members fail to produce expected results. On investigation it often turns out that the person did not really know what was expected, did not want the assignment to begin with, or did not have the skill, training, or confidence to get the job done. This post presents a sure-fire way to increase the odds that CEO's, leaders, and supervisors get the results they expect from those they manage.
Great managers are the key to developing a stronger and more engaged workforce. But how do you get your managers to effectively hire, retain, deploy, and engage talent—at all levels? Troy Anderson from Instructure will show us how to elevate your managers and give your company a true competitive advantage.
Takeaways:
Learn to create more effective leaders within your organization.
Learn to effectively create training that engages your employees.
Learn how to not only train your workforce, but how to make sure they retain that training.
HOW TO ADOPT A SERVANT LEADERSHIP MINDSET AT YOUR ORGANIZATIONHuman Capital Media
In most organizations, the leaders are the ones that hold the power. Their leadership style resembles one of a traditional hierarchy, where the leaders sit on a pedestal while making commands, have the control, and demand certain outcomes from their employees. Servant leaders are disrupting this traditional style of leading by putting the employees first, and research is finding that this disruption of the leadership status quo has many benefits.
Join Libby Powers from BizLibrary, as she explains the positive outcomes of leading from last. Adopting a servant leadership mindset will not only improve the leadership skills of the person who leads, but the whole organization will flourish with improvements in common business challenges like employee engagement and retention.
In this webinar, you’ll learn:
The qualities of a servant leader
How to transform command-control leadership into a serve-first mindset
Why companies need more servant leaders
How to teach salespeople to always ask the right questionsSalesScripter
The best salesperson is the one that asks the best questions. But it can be extremely challenging to train your sales resources to what questions to ask at all the different times.
What often happens is learning through trial and error which can be extremely costly in terms of deals lost and long new hire ramp up time.
It does not need to be so difficult and we will show you this on our “How to Train Your Salespeople to Always Ask the Right Questions” webinar where we will:
– Show you a two-step qualifying process
– Outline both pre-qualifying questions and hard qualifying questions
– Closing questions
– Networking questions
– How to build question trees that have all of the best follow-up questions

On Wednesday, the 23 of August, 2023 at 12 pm (est), you’re invited to join OnBoard as we wrap up our Summer Lunch Break series with a final webinar focusing on Assessments and Questionnaires. Your OnBoard team will be covering the configuration of these tasks within the Task Management feature.
Annual board assessments and director and officer (D&O) questionnaires are ingrained in your processes but are proven to be time consuming. From preparation to analyzing results, a significant investment is required from those involved.
Let us help reduce complexity with these action items within OnBoard. Not only are these items easily configurable, but they’re easy to assign and track progress to hold your board accountable.
Collecting and distributing materials effectively is often challenging. When multiple stakeholders are involved and there’s a variety of content, organization and accessibility are key. Perhaps you’re uploading Policies, Bylaws and Procedures, or maybe you’re curating relevant content or compiling meeting minutes from the past year. With the guidance of your OnBoard team, this webinar will enable you to better structure this repository of information in a way that most benefits your board.
Mastering Meeting Minutes with Minutes BuilderOnBoard
On Wednesday, the 2nd of August, 2023 at 12 pm (est), you’re invited to join us as we kick off our Summer ‘Lunch Break’ series with a webinar focused on mastering Minutes Builder, an essential tool within OnBoard.
Grab your lunch and make yourself comfortable as we uncover best practices for recording minutes directly within OnBoard.
This session will focus on using Minutes Builder and how it helps to streamline your workflow. You’ll see how agenda-based templates will simplify your note-taking, helping you to capture the right information, hold everyone accountable, and stay on top of action items for your board.
Struggling to juggle the notes, minutes, approvals, and more for your board and its committees?
Join us to learn how other organizations use OnBoard to manage different boards, committees, and groups – all at the same time. Organizations who adopted OnBoard at the committee level in addition to their board achieve an ROI 2x higher than organizations who use it for their board alone.
OnBoard can be your one-stop-shop for every report, approval, and decision that helps inform the board from their supplemental committees, helping you forge a holistic governance strategy.
Search and Society: Reimagining Information Access for Radical FuturesBhaskar Mitra
The field of Information retrieval (IR) is currently undergoing a transformative shift, at least partly due to the emerging applications of generative AI to information access. In this talk, we will deliberate on the sociotechnical implications of generative AI for information access. We will argue that there is both a critical necessity and an exciting opportunity for the IR community to re-center our research agendas on societal needs while dismantling the artificial separation between the work on fairness, accountability, transparency, and ethics in IR and the rest of IR research. Instead of adopting a reactionary strategy of trying to mitigate potential social harms from emerging technologies, the community should aim to proactively set the research agenda for the kinds of systems we should build inspired by diverse explicitly stated sociotechnical imaginaries. The sociotechnical imaginaries that underpin the design and development of information access technologies needs to be explicitly articulated, and we need to develop theories of change in context of these diverse perspectives. Our guiding future imaginaries must be informed by other academic fields, such as democratic theory and critical theory, and should be co-developed with social science scholars, legal scholars, civil rights and social justice activists, and artists, among others.
Connector Corner: Automate dynamic content and events by pushing a buttonDianaGray10
Here is something new! In our next Connector Corner webinar, we will demonstrate how you can use a single workflow to:
Create a campaign using Mailchimp with merge tags/fields
Send an interactive Slack channel message (using buttons)
Have the message received by managers and peers along with a test email for review
But there’s more:
In a second workflow supporting the same use case, you’ll see:
Your campaign sent to target colleagues for approval
If the “Approve” button is clicked, a Jira/Zendesk ticket is created for the marketing design team
But—if the “Reject” button is pushed, colleagues will be alerted via Slack message
Join us to learn more about this new, human-in-the-loop capability, brought to you by Integration Service connectors.

"Impact of front-end architecture on development cost", Viktor TurskyiFwdays
I have heard many times that architecture is not important for the front-end. Also, many times I have seen how developers implement features on the front-end just following the standard rules for a framework and think that this is enough to successfully launch the project, and then the project fails. How to prevent this and what approach to choose? I have launched dozens of complex projects and during the talk we will analyze which approaches have worked for me and which have not.

If you'd like to learn more about OnBoard and the solutions it provides, you can visit us online at "onboardmeetings dot com" at LinkedIn and on Twitter as well.
This is a bit of philosophical positioning about who we are as a company from our co-founder and CEO, Paroon Chadha.
He says there are just three kinds of board meetings:
The board meeting you prepared for.
The board meeting you had.
And the board meeting you wished you had.
And for us, as a board portal solution provider, it’s certainly our goal to ensure you always have the board meeting you wish you had.
