In this How To you’ll find a slideshow introduction to the inexpensive, energy efficient and sustainable art of building with clay and straw bales.
As part of the Engine Room Europe project the Creative Strategies of Sustainabilit embarked on a multitude of smaller projects to find and describe ways of a sustainable culture organisation, the project lead in the project ufaFabrik arranged conferences and prototype cases. This publication is the result of the latter.
The 20 image slide show is a quick and dirty introduction to the art of straw bale building, for more input watch the highly inspiring build of a new venue in Stanica also on the resource.

Innovating trough passion
The ability to innovate is the way to ensure the competitiveness. Businesses need innovation and the ability to be proactive. The designer needs, today, to become a figure of a complex system, integrator of functions, connector of roles and skills.
School and education can not be intended (and are not more) as containers of knowledge, but spaces where to develop new hypotheses and new qualities, nodes which society and the manufacturing can be connected.
Through a series of examples, examining projects of industrial design and research projects, an overview of experiences (Piaggio, BMW, Bugatti, Grcic...) with a common ground: the multidisciplinary approach, and passion as the main driver towards new visions and innovations. From product design to communication, from new markets to new products, old and new myths, old and new design roles.
Where the transfer of competencies, different knowledge and technologies becomes the true strength of the project.

Aster Solutions Ltd Team designed and supervised the works for buildings and villas built with Wood and Straw bales. Of course everything has been concieved to accomodate for electromechanical plants, technological systems and the most advance technologies. The heat in the wintertime and the cool in the summertime is guaranteed by the staw bales, the seismic resistance by the wooden structure and everything is protected by natural plaster and paint. The energy consumption is minimal and the comfort is maximised by Nature, together with Health. Aster Solutions works with various architects that find this construction technique as flexible as the traditional techniques, but with a real added value. Moreover, it's cheaper to build and easy to maintain.
Our practical experience on paper and field makes Aster Solutions a strong player in the sustainable construction business in general, and in the straw bale technique in particular.
This technique can be succesfully applied to residential buildings, as a full construction or a energy-optimization cover of the existing, for commercial buildings and for enjoying the great comfort in touristic resorts.

Dear Dr. Kornbluth and Mr. Gorenberg,
The US House of Representatives is deeply concerned by ongoing and pervasive acts of antisemitic
harassment and intimidation at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Failing to act decisively to ensure a safe learning environment for all students would be a grave dereliction of your responsibilities as President of MIT and Chair of the MIT Corporation.
This Congress will not stand idly by and allow an environment hostile to Jewish students to persist. The House believes that your institution is in violation of Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, and the inability or
unwillingness to rectify this violation through action requires accountability.
Postsecondary education is a unique opportunity for students to learn and have their ideas and beliefs challenged. However, universities receiving hundreds of millions of federal funds annually have denied
students that opportunity and have been hijacked to become venues for the promotion of terrorism, antisemitic harassment and intimidation, unlawful encampments, and in some cases, assaults and riots.
The House of Representatives will not countenance the use of federal funds to indoctrinate students into hateful, antisemitic, anti-American supporters of terrorism. Investigations into campus antisemitism by the Committee on Education and the Workforce and the Committee on Ways and Means have been expanded into a Congress-wide probe across all relevant jurisdictions to address this national crisis. The undersigned Committees will conduct oversight into the use of federal funds at MIT and its learning environment under authorities granted to each Committee.
• The Committee on Education and the Workforce has been investigating your institution since December 7, 2023. The Committee has broad jurisdiction over postsecondary education, including its compliance with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, campus safety concerns over disruptions to the learning environment, and the awarding of federal student aid under the Higher Education Act.
• The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is investigating the sources of funding and other support flowing to groups espousing pro-Hamas propaganda and engaged in antisemitic harassment and intimidation of students. The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is the principal oversight committee of the US House of Representatives and has broad authority to investigate “any matter” at “any time” under House Rule X.
• The Committee on Ways and Means has been investigating several universities since November 15, 2023, when the Committee held a hearing entitled From Ivory Towers to Dark Corners: Investigating the Nexus Between Antisemitism, Tax-Exempt Universities, and Terror Financing. The Committee followed the hearing with letters to those institutions on January 10, 202
