IN RYOKAN

2. Drinking tea
 When you first entering in a Ryokan you have to
take off your shoes at the entrance area of the
Ryokan. Once you have been shown to your room,
the maid will make you Japanese tea.

3. Change into Yukata
 In Ryokan there are Yukata provided for each guest.
When staying at a Ryokan it is customary to wear the
Yukata when taking a stroll or having a meal.

4. Take a bath before dinner
 Japanese-style baths are one of the truly unique
aspects of Ryokan.
 Generally you will find a big indoor bath.
 The baths are separated by sex.

5. Cuisine
 Dinner usually starts between 18:00 and 19:00.
 You either eat a Japanese style course meal decided
by the chef, or in some cases there is a buffet.
Drinks are ordered and paid for separately.

6. Going to bed
 Japanese style rooms have no bed and the maid will
lays out a “Futon” (a traditional Japanese bed) directly
onto the floor.
