2. I have just finalised the first draft of my new book,
which is all about how to escape your day job and
start a business.
Within the first chapter I speak of being the
“Powerful You”. I cannot guarantee your success in
life, however you are more likely to have success if
you are the best, most powerful, version of you.
There are certain rituals and actions you can take to
enable you to become your most powerful… If you
embrace these rituals and actions you will be
overcome any hurdles and you are more likely to
become a thriving entrepreneur.
Mindset
Who do you need to become to be successful?
There are two mindsets: Fixed and Growth. Fixed
mindset people assume that they know everything
already. Growth mindset people understand that they
can learn. You were not born knowing everything.
You cannot expect to know how to run a business if
you have been an employee your whole life.

3. A fixed mindset person will stay stubborn, and not look
for help but try and do everything themselves.
A growth mindset person will seek out others who
have been there before them, and learn how to do it.
A growth mindset person learns far quicker and easier
than the fixed mindset person.
Overcoming Average
If you want to be successful you have to overcome
average.
Average people earn money doing things they don’t
love.
Average people watch too much TV.
Average people have little or no purpose and seek
instant gratification.
Average people neither track time, nor care how
they waste time. They lie in bed at weekends, and
hit the snooze button every day.

4. If you can master the art of extraordinary, and
overcome being average, your chances of success are
far greater.
If you find your passions and purpose, and jump out of
bed every morning with goals and a plan, you are on
your way to being successful.
Never Give Up
Everyone is looking for an edge in today’s
unpredictable and competitive marketplace.
Whilst people perform well when things are going in
their favour, many people don’t perform well when
under pressure… What is needed is the ability to
perform higher and higher in any given situation.
Tapping into the “Powerful You” will certainly help
with this. Never, ever give up.
Believe In Yourself

5. Come with me on a journey… Imagine you
were in a coma:
One day you woke up with no memory.
You had no idea of what your life used to be like.
Upon awakening the nurses told you that you were an
Army Marine, and a highly decorated one at that.
How do you think you felt about yourself?
Thoughts that would have crossed your mind could
have been you were a great leader, a quick decision
maker, full of integrity, courage and knowledge.
You would have quickly felt pride that you were a
marine, and immediately embodied these traits.
On the flip side, imagine upon awakening you were
told you were a road sweeper.
What would have been your initial thoughts?
“What you believe you are, is who you are”

6. One ‘job title’ would make you swell with pride.
One would immediately put you in a state of confidence
and feeling powerful.
The other would feel less empowering. Your actions
would change depending on which ‘career’ you
embodied.
And this is why belief in yourself, and your idea, is
imperative.
Program Your Mind For Success
Success is no accident. Success happens when:
You have a big WHY.
You set goals to achieve your WHY.
You believe you can achieve your WHY.
You take action to achieve your WHY.
Success doesn’t happen when you sweat the small
stuff and get stuck.
To program your mind for success you need to
know why you do what you do, and then follow
through. If you let your mind sweat the small stuff
you will never be successful.

7. Know who you are

Get Out Of Your Bubble
When you eat the donut, watch rubbish TV, are
procrastinating or fearful – you are in the bubble.
These are signs you need to watch out for.
When you can’t stick to healthy diet habits and are
reaching for the chocolate biscuits, you are in the
bubble.
It is during these moments that you seek instant
gratification and momentary pleasure.
When you look at your actions from the outside in,
you will see these actions for what they are, they
are just little desires and urges that can be let go of.
When you notice you are in the bubble expand your
mind and your heart. See the bigger picture and look
beyond the bubble you live in.

8. Think about how others are feeling.
Try and understand what they are going through
rather than judging or condemning them.
Realise that if others treat you badly it’s not about
you, but about them.
When you see the bigger picture it is easier to
genuinely want others to be happier, just as you want
your own happiness.
The best way to stop feeling depressed is to do
something for someone else.
Mild depression comes from looking inwards and
feeling sorry for yourself.
Mild depression can be eased by having a big
purpose, and your purpose is found outside your
bubble.
It is all about your mindset.

9. Get Some Rocketfuel
To achieve success you must set goals.
When you set these goals you must take the
necessary steps to achieve them.
The only way to focus on your goals is to know
them like the back of your hand.
Which means you have to write, and rewrite them,
daily.
The reason most goals fail is because they are written
once (if at all) and then forgotten.
Writing your goal on a daily basis will help you focus,
and make you far more powerful than if you live in a
land of wishing and hoping for your dreams.
To conclude
These are just a few ideas taken from the first
module of my book, and I know through experience
and studying successful entrepreneurs that the
above is non­negotiable.

10. I have yet to meet a really successful person that
doesn’t have the right mindset, isn’t more than
average, and who isn’t at their most powerful much
of the time.
