Mental health has been in the news quite a bit lately. Dozens of U.S. states are currently suing Meta for contributing to the youth mental health crisis by inserting addictive features into their products, while the U.S. Surgeon General is touring the nation to bring awareness to the growing epidemic of loneliness and isolation. The country has endured periods of low national morale, such as in the 1970s when high inflation and the energy crisis worsened public sentiment following the Vietnam War. The current mood, however, feels different. Gallup recently reported that national mental health is at an all-time low, with few bright spots to lift spirits.
To better understand how Americans are feeling and their attitudes towards mental health in general, ThinkNow conducted a nationally representative quantitative survey of 1,500 respondents and found some interesting differences among ethnic, age and gender groups.
Technology
For example, 52% agree that technology and social media have a negative impact on mental health, but when broken out by race, 61% of Whites felt technology had a negative effect, and only 48% of Hispanics thought it did.
While technology has helped us keep in touch with friends and family in faraway places, it appears to have degraded our ability to connect in person. Staying connected online is a double-edged sword since the same news feed that brings us pictures of the grandkids and fluffy kittens also feeds us news about the wars in Israel and Ukraine, the dysfunction in Washington, the latest mass shooting and the climate crisis.
Hispanics may have a built-in defense against the isolation technology breeds, owing to their large, multigenerational households, strong social support systems, and tendency to use social media to stay connected with relatives abroad.
Age and Gender
When asked how individuals rate their mental health, men rate it higher than women by 11 percentage points, and Baby Boomers rank it highest at 83%, saying it’s good or excellent vs. 57% of Gen Z saying the same.
Gen Z spends the most amount of time on social media, so the notion that social media negatively affects mental health appears to be correlated. Unfortunately, Gen Z is also the generation that’s least comfortable discussing mental health concerns with healthcare professionals. Only 40% of them state they’re comfortable discussing their issues with a professional compared to 60% of Millennials and 65% of Boomers.
Race Affects Attitudes
As seen in previous research conducted by ThinkNow, Asian Americans lag other groups when it comes to awareness of mental health issues. Twenty-four percent of Asian Americans believe that having a mental health issue is a sign of weakness compared to the 16% average for all groups. Asians are also considerably less likely to be aware of mental health services in their communities (42% vs. 55%) and most likely to seek out information on social media (51% vs. 35%).

We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The US House of Representatives is deeply concerned by ongoing and pervasive acts of antisemitic
harassment and intimidation at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Failing to act decisively to ensure a safe learning environment for all students would be a grave dereliction of your responsibilities as President of MIT and Chair of the MIT Corporation.
This Congress will not stand idly by and allow an environment hostile to Jewish students to persist. The House believes that your institution is in violation of Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, and the inability or
unwillingness to rectify this violation through action requires accountability.
Postsecondary education is a unique opportunity for students to learn and have their ideas and beliefs challenged. However, universities receiving hundreds of millions of federal funds annually have denied
students that opportunity and have been hijacked to become venues for the promotion of terrorism, antisemitic harassment and intimidation, unlawful encampments, and in some cases, assaults and riots.
The House of Representatives will not countenance the use of federal funds to indoctrinate students into hateful, antisemitic, anti-American supporters of terrorism. Investigations into campus antisemitism by the Committee on Education and the Workforce and the Committee on Ways and Means have been expanded into a Congress-wide probe across all relevant jurisdictions to address this national crisis. The undersigned Committees will conduct oversight into the use of federal funds at MIT and its learning environment under authorities granted to each Committee.
• The Committee on Education and the Workforce has been investigating your institution since December 7, 2023. The Committee has broad jurisdiction over postsecondary education, including its compliance with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, campus safety concerns over disruptions to the learning environment, and the awarding of federal student aid under the Higher Education Act.
• The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is investigating the sources of funding and other support flowing to groups espousing pro-Hamas propaganda and engaged in antisemitic harassment and intimidation of students. The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is the principal oversight committee of the US House of Representatives and has broad authority to investigate “any matter” at “any time” under House Rule X.

✅What is C++ Programming?
C++ is an enhanced and extended version of C programming language, developed by Bjarne Stroustrup in 1979 as part of his Ph.D. project. Bjarne developed what he called ‘C with Classes’ (later renamed C++) because he felt limited by the existing programming languages that were not ideal for large scale projects. He used C to build what he wanted because C was already a general-purpose language that was efficient and fast in its operations.

How to add fraction when the denominator is not the same
- 1. HOW TO ADD FRACTION WHEN THE DENOMINATOR IS NOT THE SAME
- 2. WORKING ON THE IMPROPER FRACTION Start by finding least common multiple or LCM for a denominator. This is because it is important to ensure that the denominator is the same and to add the fraction afterwards, finding the common multiple which they are sharing and then go for the lowest.
- 3. MULTIPLY A NUMERATOR WITH THE DENOMINATOR IN ORDER TO GET DENOMINATORS THAT LOOK ALIKE. IT IS IMPORTANT TO MULTIPLY AN ENTIRE FRACTION IN ORDER TO MAKE DENOMINATORS WHICH MAY BECOME A LEAST COMMON MULTIPLE.
- 4. TURN ANOTHER FRACTION IN ITS EQUIVALENT FRACTION AND THEN REMEMBER THAT IF YOU ADJUST 1 FRACTION IN THE PROBLEM, YOU WILL NEED TO ADJUST ALL OTHER FRACTION SO THAT THEY MAY BECOME THE EQUIVALENT OF THE ORIGINAL TASK.
- 5. YOU CAN ADD THE NUMERATOR; HOWEVER, YOU SHOULD LEAVE A DENOMINATOR ALONE. WHEN THE DENOMINATORS HAVE BECOME THE SAME, YOU SHOULD ADD NUMERATORS AND PUT AN ANSWER OF A DENOMINATOR.
- 6. SIMPLIFY OR REDUCE AN ANSWER WHEN NEEDED: WHEN THE ANSWER IS NOT PROPER, IT IS EASY TO TURN A FRACTION IN THE MIXED NUMBER. IN DOING THIS, THE PERSON SHOULD DIVIDE A NUMERATOR USING A DENOMINATOR IN ORDER TO GET THE WHOLE NUMBER.
- 7. HE CAN THEN SEE THE NUMBER OF THE PARTS WHICH HAD BEEN LEFT AND THEN PLACE SUCH NUMBER OVER A DENOMINATOR. A REDUCED FRACTION WILL BE SIMPLIFIED EVEN FURTHER.
- 8. BY ADDING THE MIXED NUMBER
- 9. LOOK FOR A LOWEST COMMON DENOMINATOR WHEN NEEDED: IF THE DENOMINATOR IS THE NOT THE SAME, THE USER WILL HAVE TO WRITE DOWN DIFFERENT MULTIPLES OF EVERY DENOMINATOR IN ORDER TO FIND THE NUMBER THAT THEY ARE HAVING IN COMMON.
- 10. IT IS GOOD TO MAKE A FRACTION EQUIVALENT IN ORDER TO CHANGE ITS DENOMINATORS. THE DENOMINATOR HAS TO BECOME LOWEST COMMON MULTIPLE WHICH YOU CAN FIND. THE WHOLE FRACTION HAS TO BE MULTIPLIED BY A CERTAIN NUMBER TO GET THE DENOMINATOR TO BECOME COMMON MULTIPLE BUT THE LOWEST POSSIBLE.
- 11. CHANGING OF THE FRACTION WITHIN THE PROBLEM IN ORDER TO MAKE IT BE EQUIVALENT. WHEN ANOTHER FACTION IN THE EQUATION HAS MANY DENOMINATORS, THE USER HAS TO MULTIPLY THEM SO THAT THEY CAN HAVE THE SAME DENOMINATOR. WHEN THE FRACTION HAS ITS OWN DENOMINATOR, YOU SHOULD NOT ADJUST ITS FRACTION.
- 12. ADD A NUMERATOR SO THAT THE DENOMINATOR CAN CONTINUE TO BE ONE: WHEN THE DENOMINATOR IS THE SAME, THEN IT IS THE RIGHT TIME TO ADD ONLY THE NUMERATORS LEAVING ALONE THE DENOMINATORS.
