How Snow, Ice and Hail Can Damage Your Roof
Your roof is your main source of
protection from the outside elements.

need your roof to be strong enough to

Hail: Light hail generally doesn’t do
any damage to the roof. When the hail
is very large, it can leave dents in your
shingles. It may not look like much at first, but over time, these dents can
become a problem. When large hail hits your roof, it loosens the granules.
When it rains, these granules are washed away exposing the asphalt. The
sun can then dry out the asphalt causing it to crack. Once the asphalt has
cracked, it will allow water to get under the asphalt causing roof leaks. This

Ice & Snow: When ice and snow accumulate on your roof it can be
dangerous. If a large amount accumulates it could potentially cause your

the snow on the roof begins to melt due to heat escaping from the house.
The water runs down the roof into the gutters. This creates an ice dam that
forces the water to accumulate on your shingles and could cause leaks. This
will also weaken your roof increasing the chance of it collapsing. A good way
