Profitable Prospecting with Social MediaMaura Neill
What does real estate marketing look like in today’s world? Marketing for clients and lead generation have changed dramatically in the past decade, and we’ve entered a new frontier. Reaching clients and potential customers used to be a costly venture – with long printing wait-times and pricey postage. Today, online marketing options offer us a free way to keep in touch with our current spheres and reach potential new clients, but the rules are different. This new school of marketing, with its multitude of social media platforms and opportunities, requires a new kind of marketing savvy and can be overwhelming to navigate. This course teaches you how to combine tools like Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube (and more!) along with email marketing and blogging, with the tried-and-true marketing techniques you already know. The class will teach you to:
- Develop an online brand that expresses who you are and helps you maintain a consistent online presence.
- Create a social media strategy that works for you and incorporates the platforms with which you are most comfortable.
- Combine “old school” techniques, like direct mail and print advertising, with new school opportunities, like your Facebook business page and blogging, to create a more cost-effective and optimized approach to marketing.

How effective is the combination of your main prodcut and ancillary tasks?
1. How effective is the combination of
your main task and ancillary tasks?
Evaluation Question 2
Mollie Bugg
2. Ancillary Tasks
These are my two final ancillary tasks, a film poster and a double page
spread of a film review in a magazine. Whilst making my ancillary tasks I
focused on making them fit a brand of which I was trying to create for my
film. To do this, I took photos of Josh’s character whilst in the production
process to make sure that the images that I used on my poster and
magazine review tied in with the film. For example, the image used on my
magazine page was taken whilst filming the scene when Josh is in a
meeting with the policeman. This ties in with the codes and conventions of
a magazine review as they often use an image taken from the film.
3. Poster
Short Film
Magazine
Branding - Typography
All of my tasks, short film, poster and magazine
review, all use a different font for the title of the film.
The font that I wanted to use for the branding and to
make all of the tasks tie together was the one used
for the poster. I chose this font as it stands out and
the stripes going though it make it different to a
normal font. However, when adding in the titles for
my short film, I did not know how to import the font
from Photoshop into Adobe Premiere Pro and could
not find a tutorial online to show me how to do so.
However, to improve the branding this is what I
would do.
I chose a different font for the magazine review as it
fit in better with the conventions of a magazine. This
is because, Empire Magazine, which is the magazine I
based mine around, uses the same font for all of its
articles and does not use the one that is for the
branding of each individual film. So for this reason, I
chose to stick with the convention of a magazine
article rather than creating a brand for my film.
Empire magazine font
4. Characters
During my ancillary tasks, I used images of the
main character Josh in both of them. This meant
that then audience would already be able to
recognise the character when they see the film as
they would of seen him on the advertisements.
Josh is also the fist character you see in the film
so it creates an automation connection with the
audience. By using Josh in the poster and
magazine spread it also make sit obvious to the
audience that he is the main character.
I also chose to used images of Josh for my
ancillary tasks as it fit in with the conventions of
film posters and magazine reviews. Empire
magazine usually uses a large image of the main
character in its review as this helps the audience
recognise what film the review is about.
My poster was a character poster, this is a type of
film poster that introduces the audience to the
main character(s) within the film. These types of
poster contain a large image of one single
character which introduces the audience to that
character and show’s their personality.
5. Poster
He image I used on my poster is of the main character Josh.
This is because, during researching posters, I chose to base
my poster on a ‘character poster’.
Character Posters - Posters that contain an image of either
one characters, or a group of many main characters from
within the film. These types of posters are mainly done to
promote a certain actor, especially if there is a popular or
well known actor within the film. Sometimes film companies
choose to release many different character posters with
each character.
Character posters often introduce you to the
personality of the character. This can be seen in
these three posters of Harry Potter and the
Deathly Hallows part 1 where Harry and
Herminie are both seen looking strong, but Ron is
seen to look scared. For this reason, I chose to
show Josh looking alone and sad. There is not a
single person in the background which shows
him to look isolated and this reflects his
personality at the beginning of the film, before
he meets the gang.
6. Magazine Review a
I chose to base my magazine review around
double page spread review from Empire
Magazine. Empire usually use a large image that
is a screenshot form the film in their review. To
stick with this convention I chose to use a photo
that I took whilst filming the scene of Josh in a
meeting with a policeman.
I chose this image as it is a moment of tension
within the film and it would draw the audience in
to wonder why he is in an office. Using an image
that links directly to a scene within my short film
ties the two products together.
7. Branding
brand
brand/
noun
noun: brand; plural noun: brands
1. a type of product manufactured by a particular
company under a particular name.
The use of branding means that the audience or
consumer automatically recognising the product, such as
Cadbury or coca-cola. When these two logos are seen,
audiences instantly recognise the shade of purple and red
and the typography.
If I could create a brand for my film, I would use the font
that was used on my poster as this stands out and is
different to normal fonts because of the lines going
through it.
8. Where would Dead End be seen?
At the British Film Institution
Short Film Festival’s around the UK
At cinemas – before main films or
in a collection of short films
