Introduction
 The internet ,which is global system of
interconnected computer network or laptop. It
is a network that consists several things ,
including public , academics , business and
everything from the human thinking. The
internet carries a vast array of information
resources and services , so it is reason why
the internet link uses WWW, which means the
World Wide Web. so now people would like to
use it to search more information in their
lives. It also takes less time for people to do
    research. It makes communications more
    easily all over the world.

                                Saurabh R. Suryavanshi
History Of Internet
 The history of the Internet starts in the 1950s
and 1960s with the development of computers.
    This began with point-to-point communication
    between mainframe computers and terminals,
    expanded to point-to-point connections between
computers and then early research into packet
switching. Packet switched networks such as
ARPANET, Mark I at NPL in the UK, CYCLADES,
Merit Network, Tymnet, and Telenet, were
developed in the late 1960s and early 1970s
using a variety of protocols. The ARPANET in
particular led to the development of protocols
    for internetworking, where multiple separate
networks could be joined together into a
    network of networks.

                           Saurabh R. Suryavanshi
History Of Internet
 In 1982 the Internet Protocol Suite (TCP/IP) was
standardized and the concept of a world-wide network
of fully interconnected TCP/IP networks called the
Internet was introduced. Access to the ARPANET was
expanded in 1981 when the National Science
Foundation (NSF) developed the Computer Science
Network (CSNET) and again in 1986 when NSFNET
provided access to supercomputer sites in the United
States from research and education organizations.
Commercial internet service providers (ISPs) began to
emerge in the late 1980s and 1990s. The ARPANET
was decommissioned in 1990. The Internet was
commercialized in 1995 when NSFNET was
decommissioned, removing the last restrictions on the
use of the Internet to carry commercial traffic.

                              Saurabh R. Suryavanshi
History Of Internet
 Since the mid-1990s the Internet has had a drastic
impact on culture and commerce, including the rise of
near instant communication by electronic mail, instant
messaging, Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP)
"phone calls", two-way interactive video calls, and the
World Wide Web with its discussion forums, blogs,
social networking, and online shopping sites. The
research and education community continues to
develop and use advanced networks such as NSF's
very high speed Backbone Network Service (vBNS),
    Internet2, and National LambdaRail. Increasing
amounts of data are transmitted at higher and higher
speeds over fiber optic networks operating at 1-
    Gbit/s, 10-Gbit/s, or more.

                               Saurabh R. Suryavanshi
History Of Internet

The Internet continues to grow, driven by ever
greater amounts of online information and knowledge,
    commerce, entertainment and social networking.

 It is estimated that in 1993 the Internet carried only
1% of the information flowing through two-way
telecommunication, by 2000 this figure had grown to
51%, and by 2007 more than 97% of all
telecommunicated information was carried over the
    Internet.

                               Saurabh R. Suryavanshi
Importance

  Internet is important because
     the Internet is flooded with
     numerous products, services,
     information, and ideas. For this
reason, there is now a lot of
     competition on the Internet.

                     Saurabh R. Suryavanshi

Advantages and disadvantages of using internet

                        Saurabh R. Suryavanshi
Advantages of using internet

    It is “Fast”.
    It is “Cheap”.
    It is “Convenient”
       and “Global”

                            Saurabh R. Suryavanshi
Why is it “FAST”

 Type the key words on the search page, e.g.
    Halloween or Pandavleni.
 You will get lots of relevant information in a
    second.
 When you want to know what the next festivals are
coming , the internet provides the fast resources
    and information you need .
 It is a fast way to contact your friends , who are
living in overseas and celebrate festivals together.
 You can learn different festive cultures quickly via
    the internet.

                                   Saurabh R. Suryavanshi
Why is it “CHEAP”

 In some cases, people do not spend much money or
cash to celebrate festivals, e.g. St. Valentines’ Day.
People do not need to buy flowers or love cards for
their favorite persons , they just write the lovely
     emails.

 Like Halloween for children , they can just download
some games to play or videos about Halloween , so
they do not go to games stations or theatre to
     celebrate it.

 Not waste money on preparing the costume , making
pumpkins and set up the parties.

                                 Saurabh R. Suryavanshi
Why is it “Convenient”
    and “Global”

 Most of the Indian families must go to “temples”
to pray and celebrate the “New Year”. But for
some students who are studying aboard, they do
not have holidays on those festivals, using
internet becomes one of the good ways for
celebration. Then there are few websites to
create the online temples to help people to feel
being celebrating the festivals and meet a lot of
friends in similar situation to have good contacts.

                              Saurabh R. Suryavanshi
Other Advantages of using internet
 E-mail: Send and receive instant electronic
    messages
 Access Information:
 The Internet is a virtual treasure of information.
 Shopping:
 You do not need to leave your house
 Online Chat:
 There are many ‘chat rooms’ on the web.
 Downloading Software:
 This is one of the most happening and fun
things to do via the Internet.

                               Saurabh R. Suryavanshi
Disadvantages of using internet
 It is not “Truthful” .
   Acquire the wrong
      information.
   No sensible resources
      and knowledge

                           Saurabh R. Suryavanshi
Why is not
    “Truthful”
 Nowadays people may forget the meaning of
celebrating festivals because people are busy and
may be lazy ,but they prefer to use the Email, MSN,
and Skype to contact their friends on the festival
days. When we celebrate festivals like Lantern
festival, we are supposed to be with our friends
family and lovers but more people may not realize
    the original meaning of festival.

 Suggestion: Don’t be lazy and don’t spend all the
time with your computer. Try to think about going
out and having good party with friends or partners
to make friendships and love forever.

                                  Saurabh R. Suryavanshi
Why people acquire the wrong
information
 The internet is most convenient and fast system in
the world. However , there are some websites may
not have hundreds percent true information e.g.
Wikipedia. It provides useful information and
articles but it also can let people write and change
information with their own ideas , then the
information may not be accurate. Some people will
read the wrong information. When people upload
information, the editors of Wikipedia need to delete
the wrong information, it may take days, weeks or
even months. During the “Time Gap”, people will get
    this wrong information.

 Suggestion: Try to go to libraries to find the
information from the books because they include the
professional authors and publishing consultants to
launch their books. Find information from academic
research papers if needed. Get information from
more reliable sources like British Library and some
Universities have their own publications like
    Cambridge university or Oxford university.

                                 Saurabh R. Suryavanshi
Why is it not sensible resources
and knowledge

 
When the internet becomes so popular, more and
more people create their own webpages and
express their opinions and send out information
through social networking website like Facebook,
yahoo etc. Some people express personal
opinions or emotions (not really sensible
     sometimes).

 Suggestion: Find some more reliable websites
because they pay more attention on the
accuracy of the information on their website
such as “The Free Dictionary By FARLEX” from
Oxford dictionary is a good website for
     reference.
                             Saurabh R. Suryavanshi
Other Disadvantages of using internet
 Personal Information:

 Your personal information can be accessed by other
          people.
 Your credit card information can also be ‘stolen’.

 Pornography:
 This is a very serious issue concerning the Internet,
especially when it comes to young children.

 Spamming:
 This refers to sending unsolicited e-mails in bulk, which
          serve no purpose

                                   Saurabh R. Suryavanshi
Conclusion
 On one hand, internet is very convenient
and a fast system to help people do many
things including festival celebration. On the
other hand, people may lose the chance to
have direct contacts with friends, relatives
    by attending festival cerebrations.

 We should make the best use of Internet in
improving our life and at the same time,
don’t let internet hinder our direct contacts
    with friends and relatives.

                            Saurabh R. Suryavanshi

  • 4. Introduction  The internet ,which is global system of interconnected computer network or laptop. It is a network that consists several things , including public , academics , business and everything from the human thinking. The internet carries a vast array of information resources and services , so it is reason why the internet link uses WWW, which means the World Wide Web. so now people would like to use it to search more information in their lives. It also takes less time for people to do research. It makes communications more easily all over the world. Saurabh R. Suryavanshi
  • 5. History Of Internet  The history of the Internet starts in the 1950s and 1960s with the development of computers. This began with point-to-point communication between mainframe computers and terminals, expanded to point-to-point connections between computers and then early research into packet switching. Packet switched networks such as ARPANET, Mark I at NPL in the UK, CYCLADES, Merit Network, Tymnet, and Telenet, were developed in the late 1960s and early 1970s using a variety of protocols. The ARPANET in particular led to the development of protocols for internetworking, where multiple separate networks could be joined together into a network of networks. Saurabh R. Suryavanshi
  • 6. History Of Internet  In 1982 the Internet Protocol Suite (TCP/IP) was standardized and the concept of a world-wide network of fully interconnected TCP/IP networks called the Internet was introduced. Access to the ARPANET was expanded in 1981 when the National Science Foundation (NSF) developed the Computer Science Network (CSNET) and again in 1986 when NSFNET provided access to supercomputer sites in the United States from research and education organizations. Commercial internet service providers (ISPs) began to emerge in the late 1980s and 1990s. The ARPANET was decommissioned in 1990. The Internet was commercialized in 1995 when NSFNET was decommissioned, removing the last restrictions on the use of the Internet to carry commercial traffic. Saurabh R. Suryavanshi
  • 7. History Of Internet  Since the mid-1990s the Internet has had a drastic impact on culture and commerce, including the rise of near instant communication by electronic mail, instant messaging, Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) "phone calls", two-way interactive video calls, and the World Wide Web with its discussion forums, blogs, social networking, and online shopping sites. The research and education community continues to develop and use advanced networks such as NSF's very high speed Backbone Network Service (vBNS), Internet2, and National LambdaRail. Increasing amounts of data are transmitted at higher and higher speeds over fiber optic networks operating at 1- Gbit/s, 10-Gbit/s, or more. Saurabh R. Suryavanshi
  • 8. History Of Internet The Internet continues to grow, driven by ever greater amounts of online information and knowledge, commerce, entertainment and social networking.  It is estimated that in 1993 the Internet carried only 1% of the information flowing through two-way telecommunication, by 2000 this figure had grown to 51%, and by 2007 more than 97% of all telecommunicated information was carried over the Internet. Saurabh R. Suryavanshi
  • 9. Importance  Internet is important because the Internet is flooded with numerous products, services, information, and ideas. For this reason, there is now a lot of competition on the Internet. Saurabh R. Suryavanshi

  • 18. Advantages and disadvantages of using internet Saurabh R. Suryavanshi
  • 19. Advantages of using internet  It is “Fast”.  It is “Cheap”.  It is “Convenient” and “Global” Saurabh R. Suryavanshi
  • 20. Why is it “FAST”  Type the key words on the search page, e.g. Halloween or Pandavleni.  You will get lots of relevant information in a second.  When you want to know what the next festivals are coming , the internet provides the fast resources and information you need .  It is a fast way to contact your friends , who are living in overseas and celebrate festivals together.  You can learn different festive cultures quickly via the internet. Saurabh R. Suryavanshi
  • 21. Why is it “CHEAP”  In some cases, people do not spend much money or cash to celebrate festivals, e.g. St. Valentines’ Day. People do not need to buy flowers or love cards for their favorite persons , they just write the lovely emails.  Like Halloween for children , they can just download some games to play or videos about Halloween , so they do not go to games stations or theatre to celebrate it.  Not waste money on preparing the costume , making pumpkins and set up the parties. Saurabh R. Suryavanshi
  • 22. Why is it “Convenient” and “Global”  Most of the Indian families must go to “temples” to pray and celebrate the “New Year”. But for some students who are studying aboard, they do not have holidays on those festivals, using internet becomes one of the good ways for celebration. Then there are few websites to create the online temples to help people to feel being celebrating the festivals and meet a lot of friends in similar situation to have good contacts. Saurabh R. Suryavanshi
  • 23. Other Advantages of using internet  E-mail: Send and receive instant electronic messages  Access Information:  The Internet is a virtual treasure of information.  Shopping:  You do not need to leave your house  Online Chat:  There are many ‘chat rooms’ on the web.  Downloading Software:  This is one of the most happening and fun things to do via the Internet. Saurabh R. Suryavanshi
  • 24. Disadvantages of using internet  It is not “Truthful” .  Acquire the wrong information.  No sensible resources and knowledge Saurabh R. Suryavanshi
  • 25. Why is not “Truthful”  Nowadays people may forget the meaning of celebrating festivals because people are busy and may be lazy ,but they prefer to use the Email, MSN, and Skype to contact their friends on the festival days. When we celebrate festivals like Lantern festival, we are supposed to be with our friends family and lovers but more people may not realize the original meaning of festival.  Suggestion: Don’t be lazy and don’t spend all the time with your computer. Try to think about going out and having good party with friends or partners to make friendships and love forever. Saurabh R. Suryavanshi
  • 26. Why people acquire the wrong information  The internet is most convenient and fast system in the world. However , there are some websites may not have hundreds percent true information e.g. Wikipedia. It provides useful information and articles but it also can let people write and change information with their own ideas , then the information may not be accurate. Some people will read the wrong information. When people upload information, the editors of Wikipedia need to delete the wrong information, it may take days, weeks or even months. During the “Time Gap”, people will get this wrong information.  Suggestion: Try to go to libraries to find the information from the books because they include the professional authors and publishing consultants to launch their books. Find information from academic research papers if needed. Get information from more reliable sources like British Library and some Universities have their own publications like Cambridge university or Oxford university. Saurabh R. Suryavanshi
  • 27. Why is it not sensible resources and knowledge  When the internet becomes so popular, more and more people create their own webpages and express their opinions and send out information through social networking website like Facebook, yahoo etc. Some people express personal opinions or emotions (not really sensible sometimes).  Suggestion: Find some more reliable websites because they pay more attention on the accuracy of the information on their website such as “The Free Dictionary By FARLEX” from Oxford dictionary is a good website for reference. Saurabh R. Suryavanshi
  • 28. Other Disadvantages of using internet  Personal Information:  Your personal information can be accessed by other people.  Your credit card information can also be ‘stolen’.  Pornography:  This is a very serious issue concerning the Internet, especially when it comes to young children.  Spamming:  This refers to sending unsolicited e-mails in bulk, which serve no purpose Saurabh R. Suryavanshi
  • 29. Conclusion  On one hand, internet is very convenient and a fast system to help people do many things including festival celebration. On the other hand, people may lose the chance to have direct contacts with friends, relatives by attending festival cerebrations.  We should make the best use of Internet in improving our life and at the same time, don’t let internet hinder our direct contacts with friends and relatives. Saurabh R. Suryavanshi
