While Buddhism denies the existence of a permanent, immortal soul or self, this does not mean that personal identity or a blissful afterlife is denied. Buddhism views personal identity as a continuous process rather than a static entity. Karma also provides continuity of personal identity. The implications of the Buddhist view of reality do not differ much from our everyday experiences. Authentic Buddhist practitioners are found to be among the happiest and most peaceful people according to studies, showing that denying a permanent self does not preclude well-being and happiness.
