The motivations are to determine if our solar system is unique in its formation and composition. Data from the Spitzer Space Telescope is used to model dust around 15 stars, including continuous dust disk and ring models with different grain types. Fits to HD114082 show the new model captures cold dust better than the old one. Future work will add water ice emission features to models. Conclusions state most objects fit well with new data and tools will soon be released on Github.

This document summarizes a numerical study of the backreaction of Hawking radiation on a gravitationally collapsing star. The study finds that including the inward flux of negative energy Hawking radiation in the interior of the star slows its collapse. This causes the star to bounce at a finite radius larger than its horizon, before its core explodes. The full system of Einstein and hydrodynamic equations describing the collapsing star and Hawking radiation flux are solved numerically, as an improvement over previous analytic approximations.

1) Current rocket technologies are insufficient to reach other stars due to limitations of chemical fuels; multistage rockets and new fuels like nuclear or antimatter could help.
2) The nearest star is over 4 light years away, so travel at current speeds would take tens of thousands of years; new propulsion methods like ion drives, solar sails, and ramjets could enable much faster travel.
3) However, special relativity shows that nothing can travel faster than light speed, posing a fundamental limit to interstellar travel; speculative ideas like wormholes or generation ships may be needed to overcome this.

It began with Max Planck's explanation of blackbody radiation using discrete energy levels, and contributions from Einstein, Bohr, de Broglie, Heisenberg, Schrodinger and others who developed quantum theory. Quantum mechanics was able to successfully model atomic and molecular behavior that classical mechanics could not explain. Quantum computing seems to be garnering a lot of attention lately. In this talk I'll explore the topic at a cursory level to explore how quantum computers differ from digital/traditional computers. It is very likely (but not certain) that the talk will pivot away from Heisenberg's uncertainty principle towards the importance of first principles. We'll focus on why solving complex problems rely so heavily on understanding the basics and applying disciplined thinking. Mach's principle proposes that inertia is an interaction between a body and the rest of the mass in the universe. The document presents Mach's principle, discusses how it could explain the origin of inertia by deriving kinetic energy as an interaction energy between bodies. It then shows calculations modeling the universe as a spherical shell to derive an expression for a particle's total interaction energy with the universe that is equivalent to its inertial mass.
