2. About... Horror films try to create a primal fear the audience have, they attempt to create a tense and dramatic atmosphere that scares the audience. They have been around for hundreds of years, starting of in plays around the world. Common horror films include, ghosts, vampires, zombies, satanism, serial killers, curses e.t.c.

3. Classic Horror Horror began with ghosts and monsters being the main villains in the movies. Early horror movies like ‘Nosferatu’ sparked a genius horror meme that has grown through the years.

5. Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde Released in 1920 Based on Robert louis Stevenson Story. A chilling silent horror about how mad scientists Dr Jekyll’s split personality creates mayhem.

6. Nosferatu Released in 1922 An unauthorised adaption of Bram Stokers ‘Dracula’. A german film that created a new form of tense horror film.

7. Frankenstein Released in 1931 A famous horror film involving a scientists that creates a monster out of corpses.

8. White Zombie Released in 1932 About voodoo zombies controlled by Murder Legendre, a high priest. It is considered to be one of the first presentation of Zombies in film.

18. Halloween Released in 1978 A film that follows the return of a psychotic murderer. A popular 70’s horror that won ‘The National Film Preservation, USA’ award in 2006.

19. Day of the Dead Released in 1985 The following of the ever growing zombie epidemic created by Romero. The film shows how humans are outnumbered by blood thirsty zombies.

20. Friday 13th Released in 1980 A horror film recognised by people all around the world through the creation of Jason.

22. Scream Released in 1996 A film that created a lifelike masked character that scared people around the world.

23. Blair Witch Project Released in 1999 This film was the first of its generation to be filmed solely through a video camera; this helped trick the audience in believing that it was real.

24. Final Destination Released in 2000 Now a successful franchise, this horror shows teenagers trying to cheat death; but not succeeding.

25. The Grudge Released in 2004 A commonly sweet and innocent child is portrayed in this movie as a cursed controlled supernatural mystery.

26. Paranormal Activity Released in 2007 Paranormal Activity was a video camera filmed movie that saw massive success around the world. Due to its freakiness and the convincing filming.

27. The 2000’s The 2000’s saw the remakes of classic horror films and the creation of a new form of horror films. Horror films that contained tense scenes and big bus scenes. Films in this time commonly featured Teenagers as the victims and spawned many sequels, like the ‘Final Destination’ franchise. Also i discovered that people of this time enjoy horror films where in which there is a supernatural evil, something they can not see. As time went on people discovered that lifelike movies were the scariest as they create a feeling that what is happening in the movie, could happen to the them.

28. My response Throughout my research of horror films i have realised that they have changed more than any other genre of films. The films that scared and gripped people in the past sightly startle the people of the present. I believe Horror fans nowadays look for a film that makes them think weather it could happen to them. A film that builds tension throughout and can create a life like feel. Because of my research i have decided that my 2 minute film i will make, should include lifelike scenes that create a tense and dramatic atmosphere and possibly include an evil the viewer cannot initially see.

29. How its changed Horror has changed throughout the years as cultures change. From Horror’s earliest times it was a less thought of genre with ghosts and gargoyles being the common characters. Now Horror is one of the most popular genres of film, making millions of dollars for each movie; and more importantly, it continues to scare us half to death...
