2. Welcome back to the Hoopsfix All-
Star Classic as we return to Crystal
Palace National Sports Centre for
the second consecutive year.
Last year, we set a record for a crowd at
a junior basketball game at the Classic
(which we then broke again later in
the summer when 5,200 swarmed into
the Copper Box for Hoopsfix Elite vs
California Basketball Club), when a
1500-capacity audience filled Crystal Palace
and we should match that again today
showing the hunger for junior basketball
in this country.
It’s crazy to think this is the ninth edition
of the event, making it a decade next year.
Where does the time go?
In that time, we’ve seen a number of
future stars suit up, none more so than
Jeremy Sochan who now graces the floor
of the NBA with the San Antonio Spurs,
and Holly Winterburn who is now the
winningest player in WBBL history, while
another two alumni have declared for this
year’s NBA draft in Tosan Evbuomwan and
Quinn Ellis.
We once again need to thank our valued
partners; in particular Jordan who have
really stepped up what we can deliver this
year, along with Molten, Sportserve Ltd,
and Red Bull - who we simply would not
have been able to do this without.
At the time of writing, I feel a lot of nerves
(and stress!) as I pray everything is going to
come together. So, if you’re reading this,
hopefully that means we’ve made it!
Be sure to use the hashtag #HASC23 when
talking about the day on social media, and
follow @Hoopsfix on all our social media
accounts for real time updates with photos
and videos from the event.
A lot has changed over the past few years,
but one thing remains true; the British
basketball community is as passionate as
ever.
I appreciate you coming out to support -
let’s grow the game together.

4. HASC HISTORY
This year marks the ninth edition of the Hoopsfix
All-Star Classic and is at the fourth different venue,
in Crystal Palace. Here’s a run through of the
previous years:
2014
For its first year, the Classic
went to Brunel University,
in West London, and
featured an Under-16 and
Under-26 game. Sold out in
advance, the Senior game
featured a number of GB
internationals, as it pitted
Matthew Bryan-Amaning,
who wound up MVP,
against Dan Clark. In the
junior game, it was Jelani
Watson-Gayle who made
a name for himself, taking
home MVP and getting
a call back up to the U16
National Team. GB’s Myles
Hesson was crowned dunk
champion.
2015
2015 will forever be
remembered for ‘the dunk’
as Kyle Carey served up
the highlight of the event’s
history so far in front of a
sellout crowd at Brixton
Rec. That was part of
Carey’s MVP performance
after finishing with 23
points in Team Black’s
victory in the inaugural
Under-19 game. Gedi
Juozapaitis starred in the
event’s first-ever Under-17
game with 20 points, seven
rebounds and five assists
as Team White prevailed.
5’10” Myles Laurent-Smart
impressed in the dunk
contest to take home the
honours.
2016
The 2016 edition of the
Hoopsfix All-Star Classic
saw a third straight sellout
as the event remained in
Brixton for a second year.
RJ Eytle-Rock took MVP
honours after leading
Team White to victory in
the Under-19 game with 15
points, five rebounds, six
assists and six steals, while
2015 MVP Kyle Carey top
scored with 20 points. In
the Under-17 game, Zion
Tordoff was named MVP
after putting up 18 points
and six rebounds in victory
for Team Black. Amin
Adamu showed off his
bounce to claim the dunk
contest.
2018
After a year hiatus, the
Hoopsfix All-Star Classic
returned to Brixton for
the third year in front of
another sellout crowd. Ade
Adebayo picked up the
Underclassmen MVP after
leading Team Black with a
team-high 15, whilst Brian
Amabilino-Perez scored 11
of his game-high 20 points
in the fourth quarter for
MVP honours to lead
Team White to victory
in the Class of 2019 game.
Jonathan Brown fought
off the competition for the
dunk contest title.
2019
The 2019 edition marked
a significant step up in
the history of the Classic,
earmarked by a new 3-year
deal with Nike, allowing
the event to expand over
two days, with the addition
of an U19 Women’s game,
3-point shootout, and a
series of clinics for coaches.
Holly Winterburn was the
U19 Women’s game MVP
after putting on a show,
whilst Tomiwa Sulaiman
took honours in the
Underclassmen game, and
Mate Okros in the Class
of 2019 game. Cal-bound
Sam Alajiki took the dunk
contest title, whilst Rhys
Sundimalt won the 3-point
shootout.
2020
With the country under
strict lockdown, the 2020
edition of the Hoopsfix
All-Star Classic was forced
to be cancelled due to
the COVID-19 pandemic.
Despite not being able to
hold the event physically,
a roster selection for
Underclassmen, Class of
2020 and Under-19 Women
was released online.
2021
The event returned at a
new venue in the summer
of 2021 - and without
fans for the first time - in
Battersea. Cameron Taylor-
Willis earned the honour
of the U19 Women’s game
MVP with Great Osobor
putting on a show as MVP
in the U19 Men’s game.
Earlier in the day, Alex
Distras had claimed the
3-point shootout title with
Hensy Sako winning the
dunk contest.
2022
Upgrading to a bigger
venue in 2022, Crystal
Palace became home to
a then-record crowd of
1500 people for junior
basketball. Quinn Ellis
was the star of the show,
taking home both the
3-point shootout crown
and U19 Men’s MVP, while
Issy Bunyan took home
the honours in the U19
Women’s game and Charles
Okafor won the dunk
contest.

5. HOOPSFIX FOUNDATION
What is the importance of the
Hoopsfix All-Star Classic? Outside
of providing a platform to spotlight
the top young basketball talent in
the country, it also raises money for
the Hoopsfix Foundation to reinvest
back into the game.
With a focus on growing and raising
the profile of basketball in the UK, the
Foundation takes on national level projects
that aim to have a long term scalable
impact.
From basketball court renovations - with
Clapham Common being completed in
2021, to funding ground-breaking research
on outdoor courts that will be published
later in 2023, to running events such as the
Hoopsfix Pro-Am, coaching clinics, and
the All-Star Classic, the Foundation has
made significant impact on the British
basketball landscape since its inception in
2014.
I say that to say, by attending today, you are
making an investment into the future of
our game by supporting the Foundation’s
work as we attempt to level up to grow and
raise the profile of basketball in the UK.
Stay tuned as we look to fill the summer
schedule with numerous events and other
activities!

6. Fairley will take the reins of Team Black off the
back of picking up WEABL Coach of the Year
honours in the Northern Conference after leading
Manchester Mystics back to the playoffs with a 6-3
record in the regular season, and had success in
the national league winning the U16 girls National
Cup and playoff title with the Mystics.
The Manchester native previously led the
Mystics in the inaugural season of the WBBL
back in 2014/15 and took charge of the academy
programme last summer.

Another player that has pushed on in the last 12 months,

Nevison makes another appearance in the Classic after

the Leeds native bound for the University of Alaska Fairbanks
next season.
#14-KATIECOX
28/04/2006 (17) GUARD/FORWARD, 6’0” SEVENOAKS SUNS
The youngest participant in this year’s Classic, Cox was captain
of the GB Under-16 team last summer and combines basketball
with football. Cox is also part of Chelsea women’s academy,
whilst representing England at youth level and spent the 2022-
23 season playing in the WBBL with Sevenoaks Suns with a
season-high of 21 points.
#33-JESSICABAKHSH
03/08/2005 (17) GUARD, 5’4” JSERRA (USA)
Bakhsh is the only overseas based player to have made it onto
a roster this season after another year spent in the US. The
17-year-old guard returned to the UK last summer to compete
in the Hoopsfix Pro-Am having previously played in Barking
and will have another chance to impress as a debutante in the
Classic.
#37-FLORRIECOTTERILL
22/11/2004 (18) CENTRE, 6’1” SOLENT KESTRELS
One of four members of the Itchen programme, Cotterill
has developed with the team and was also part of Solent
Kestrels’ WNBL D1 double-winning roster. Cotterill enjoyed an
intriguing battle inside with Felicia Jacobs in the WEABL final,
but the two players will be on the same team this time around.
#52-CHRISTABELOSAROBO
13/04/2005 (18) FORWARD, 5’9” IPSWICH BASKETBALL

outings in WNBL Division 1 action.
#4-FATMATAJANNEH
04/11/2004 (18) GUARD/FORWARD, 6’1” BARKING ABBEY
Janneh once again proved to be a dominant force at times for
Barking Abbey in WNBL D1 action with some spectacular stat-
lines throughout the season. The 18-year-old made the Division
1 British Team of the Year and is set for Saint Peter’s next
season alongside GB Under-18 teammate Carys Roy.
#5-DAISYPORTER
17/12/2003 (19) GUARD, 5’7” OAKLANDS WOLVES
Porter is set to take part in this year’s Classic after missing
out on the 2022 edition due to an injury. The Welsh guard
competed alongside Issy Bunyan and sister Rosie Porter at the
recent U18 Four Nations Tournament and saw big minutes in
the WBBL on a young Oaklands Wolves side.
#6-ANA-ISABELANDERSSON
24/05/2004 (19) GUARD, 5’5” CITY OF LONDON ACADEMY
The hard-working guard makes a debut at the Classic after
just missing out on selection 12 months ago and has been a
reliable presence for CoLA. Andersson is a two-time WEABL

WEABL.
#8-ABBEYWHITEHOUSE
27/09/2003 (19) GUARD, 5’8” SHEFFIELD HATTERS
Whitehouse was one of the top young performers in the WBBL
this past season with a string of starts for top four side Sheffield
Hatters. The two-time WEABL MVP averaged 5.9 points
per game amongst a deep British core and makes another
appearance at the Classic.
#11-ERINCALDWELL
31/08/2004 (18) GUARD/FORWARD, 5’8” SOLENT KESTRELS
Caldwell provided plenty of scoring power for Itchen on their
way to finishing as runners-up in the WEABL. The 18-year-old
wing averaged 19.7 points and 8.5 rebounds during the regular
season to earn a spot on the All-Second Team in the Southern
Conference and is joined by three teams in this year’s Classic.
#13-LIVFORSTER
30/04/2005 (18) GUARD, 5’6” IPSWICH BASKETBALL
Forster has unlimited range and has proved to be one of the
most exciting prospects to watch through her time at Copleston
and Ipswich. The 18-year-old guard put together some huge
scoring displays in both the WEABL and WNBL Division 1,
whilst also showing out for England Under-18s at the Four
Nations Tournament.
9. Rhys Sundimalt was the winner of the
inaugural shootout in 2019 with a score of
20 in the final round with Imogen Cook
finishing in second place.
In 2021, Alex Distras came out on top to be
crowned champion with Sam Grant and
Katie Januszewska edged out in the final
round.
While in 2022, Quinn Ellis shone to pick
up the award, pairing it with the Under-19
game MVP.
The participants have a minute on the
clock with five balls in each of the five
racks positioned around the arc with the
final ball aka the ‘money ball’ in each rack
worth double points.
The top three players with the highest
accumulated scorers from the first round
will advance to the final.
3-POINT
SHOOTOUT
The 3-Point Shootout
returns once again with
the mixed-gender format
back for its fourth
edition as eight players

title.
#15-LOUISAGIBBINS
28/10/2005 (17) FORWARD, 6’2” IPSWICH BASKETBALL
Gibbins joins Copleston and Ipswich teammate Forster on
Team White for a debut at the Classic after enjoying a strong
year. The forward picked up the WEABL’s U17 Player of the
Year in the Southern Conference having represented GB
Under-18 at last summer’s European Championship and gone
from strength to strength this past season.
#22-VIOLETSTUTZ
11/04/2005 (18) GUARD, 5’9” CITY OF LONDON ACADEMY
Stutz is one of six representatives of CoLA’s WEABL winning
side that defended their title to make it onto the rosters in
this year’s Classic. The GB Under-18 guard also came through
Richmond Knights and has gained a reputation for being a
lights out three-point shooter from the corner, whilst honing
her skills on the defensive end.
#24-ERINPOWELL
11/08/2005 (17) GUARD/FORWARD, 6’0” LOUGHBOROUGH RIDERS
Powell backed up the WEABL’s U17 Player of the Year selection
from the previous season to make All-First Team honours in
the Northern Conference, despite dealing with injury. The
versatile wing makes a second appearance in the Classic and is
still one of the youngest competing players.
#25-ALEXSHAW
11/12/2003 (19) CENTRE, 6’1” LOUGHBOROUGH RIDERS
Shaw was arguably the most dominant big in the WEABL this
season with a couple of monster games for Charnwood on the
way to averaging 25+ points per game. The former Derby centre
was part of the Leicester Riders roster in the season-ending
WBBL playoffs final and will head to Hillsborough Community
College next season.
10. The dunk contest has a long association
with the event having featured in each of
the previous seven editions.
It was Sheffield’s Charles Okafor who
impressed to take home the title in 2022,
after battling with his teammate Declan
Kom who returns this year for a second
attempt.
Hensy Sako soared over two people on
the way to taking the title in 2021 to join
an illustrious list of former winners of the
contest.
It all started in 2014 when GB Senior Men’s
co-captain Myles Hesson took him the
inaugural title with a neck-and-neck battle
against Andrew Wilding.
It was the guards shining the following
year as 5’10” Myles Laurent-Smart
showcased his athleticism with a 180
windmill throwdown.
The creativity in the contests kept rising
as did the competition. 2016 saw Amin
Adamu win the title with a self-alley off
the backboard. The crowd were all in with
the action as players crashed the court in
support of the winner.
The 2018 contest saw a crowd encircle
the hoopers as they battled it out. 6’2”
guard Jonathan Brown was declared the
winner after a stellar performance, ousting
Jordan-Reece George in the final.
Brown put up a strong showing the
following year as well, yet was unable
to reach the finals. The night was Sam
Alajiki’s - now at Cal - as his performance
put him on the radar for fans.
Four players will compete for the 2023
crown with each participant registering
two dunks in the first round as the two
players with the highest accumulated
scorers advancing to the final.
DUNK
CONTEST
The Hoopsfix All-Star
Classic will once again
feature aerial artistry
with some of the
country’s best hoopers
showcasing their ability
in the dunk contest.
One of the goals of the Hoopsfix All-
Star Classic is to spotlight talent,
building up the profile of young
players before they go on to make
their mark in their professional
careers.
Since the addition of the Under-19
Women’s game in 2019, there have been
numerous stories of success on the female
side, none more so than 22 year old Holly
Winterburn who was the first year MVP
and has since become the most winningest
player in WBBL history with 11 titles.
This year she has further cemented her
status as one of the brightest young talents
in the UK with the MVP award in the
WBBL Trophy Final in March, finishing
with 16 points, six rebounds, five assists
and three steals as the Lions defended
their title and have since gone on to sweep
the season (again) with her as a major
piece.
Elsewhere in the WBBL, Issy Bunyan, who
was last year’s Classic MVP after finishing
with 14 points, six rebounds and two steals
in just 16 minutes - was named the league’s
Young Player of the Year.
The GB Under-18 forward had another
improved campaign with the Welsh club
with averages of 11.4 points, 4.3 rebounds,
2.3 assists and 1.3 blocks per game.
And another bright star this season has
been Solent Kestrels’ Faye Endean, who
many believe to be the best under-19 player
in the country right now.
Having played in the Classic twice, with
the 2023 edition this summer being her
third and final opportunity, Endean picked
up the WNBL Division 1 MVP this season,
while leading Solent to a double with the
league and playoff title, and falling just
short in the WEABL final with Itchen at
the hands of powerhouse CoLA.
YOUNG WOMEN
CONTINUE TO SHINE
11. Macaulay is one of the great names of British
Basketball with decades of service to the game
– predominantly associated with London Lions
after a decade at the helm – and will take charge
of Team Black.
The veteran play-caller is a two-time BBL Coach
of the Year winner after claiming the award in
the 2007/08 and 2018/19 seasons and took over at
Manchester Giants last summer
Jefferson is in the earlier stages of his coaching
career but it hasn’t stopped his success as he heads
up Team White. The four time BUCS National
Champion and NBL D1 league champion with
Loughborough led Loughborough II to the BUCS
National Trophy this year with a 28-4 overall
record, and will have a keen eye on both sides
ahead of a role as assistant coach with GB’s Under-
20s this summer.

squad in the summer of 2019 and the electric guard will look to
