A Message from the President
Today sees the culmination of yet another season of Millewa Football and Netball. Congratulations to
both the Bambill and Werrimull Football Clubs on making it to the final day of the season not only in
football, but also in the A Grade netball. To Cardross and Gol Gol who have also qualified sides in to-
day’s other netball finals, well done on your efforts this year.
Congratulations to this year’s McDonald Medalist Clint Burdett of Gol Gol. Clint has had a superb year
and has stood out amongst his team mates. Well done also to our runner up Cam Peters, who has had
another amazing year for Nangiloc.
This year saw a resurgence by Nangiloc up the ladder. The interest and support that they received
from their local community, as well as the wider football community in Sunraysia has been fantastic. Let
us hope that they continue to be strong in the years to come and build on the success of 2014. At the
other end of the table its been a tough year for Gol Gol, Cardross, Meringur and Euston on the football
fields. Without these sides though our competition can not exist. Not everyone can make it to the last
Saturday of the year, and I hope that seeing others enjoy success drives you during the off season to
make your clubs stronger, but also sustainable in years to come. A strong cohort of clubs can only im-
prove the strength of the league as a collective.
This year also saw us struggle for umpires appointed to matches. I would personally like to thank
Danny Mannix for taking on the role of coordinating our crew of club umpires and to these guys for
officiating our matches. Without them, the league would not have functioned this year.
From a guide point of view this final edition of the year is packed with information, including detailed
results and McDonald Medal votes of every game played this year, netball best and fairest summaries,
our MFL and MNA teams of the year, plus all the details required for today’s football and netball
matches. Many thanks to the team at Sunnyland Press who have again printed the guide and help me
each week to produce a quality publication.
As my first year as President comes to a close, I feel that the league has made improvements in a num-
ber of key areas, and we’ll seek to build on these next year with one or two new innovations. As the
season comes to a close at the traditional home of the Millewa Football League on a beautiful early
spring day, I hope that whatever the outcome you enjoy the spectacle and have a great day at Lake
Cullulleraine.

of the year. Congratulations to all teams that have made it
through and commiserations to those that fell just short.
We all started 2014 with high expectations of what we felt
we could achieve as a club. Many hours of hard work
training and preparing have all come down to this one final game. All that hard
work culminates in one match. Winner takes all. Pressure is on all participants, but
that is exactly why we play. To have earned this opportunity, and to embrace the
pressure and use it to drive you to give you’re all for the ultimate team success.
That’s what today is all about.
Today gives the club the opportunity to thank all our supports, members and
sponsors for all your support during 2014. We have an extremely loyal group of
sponsors and members/supporters and Bambill FNC is extremely grateful for all
you do for our club. Today is just as much about you as it is for the players.

Today, another season draws to a close. Everyone
is a year older and one year further past (or closer
to) their sexual peak. For one football and five
netball teams, today is the long road to premiership
glory.
At today’s Grand Final, Gol Gol is represented in
three netball grades – ‘A’ Reserve, ‘C’ Grade and
the Juniors. The ‘A’ Reserve and the Juniors have
travelled similar paths to this year’s Grand Final
match – both being dominant throughout the course
of the home and away season, with the Juniors
conceding only one match to the opposition and the
‘A’ Reserve team yet to taste defeat. As we know, all of that counts for nothing
now. Today it is completely back to square. The ‘C’ Grade’s journey has been
quite different – they have come from the clouds! They finished the year in fourth
position (eight wins), but toppled top placed Bambill last week to advance to today’s
game. That effort was nothing short of sensational and they surely must go into
today’s game confident that they have one more upset performance left in the tank.
All the best to the skirts today!
The ‘B’ Grade, ‘A’ Grade and the footballers miss out this year, which is naturally
disappointing for the players and the associated coaching staff. Hopefully this fuels
the burning fire within to improve over the off-season and look at next year as
another opportunity for success. Well done to Melise for her coaching contribution
of three teams and Dick for his commitment this year, often under trying
circumstances. Both coaches will know that the role can be all consuming and
becomes like a second life. No one underestimates your effort, so from all involved,
thank you.
There is a countless number of people and organisations that requiring
acknowledgement, such is their contribution to the general running and the overall
existence of the club. Attention will be directed towards these people both
tomorrow at our vote count and in a few weeks at the Trentham Estate Presentation
Day. Briefly, the Golly Footy and Netball Club would like to extend a big thanks to
our major sponsor, the Gol Gol Hotel, and to our awesome president Benny
Sobkowiak. With the wonderful assistance from his 14 strong committee, Ben has
delivered fresh, personal and intuitive leadership that the club desperately needed.
The result is improved stability and a strong sense of the ‘Golly of old’ returning.
If you haven’t handed in your Suzuki raffle tickets yet, you are late, so expect to be
hounded. This unbelievable prize will be drawn on AFL Grand Final eve at the
Golly pub – don’t’ miss it! As well, don’t forget to make plans to get back to the
clubrooms tomorrow for a few frothies for the netball and football vote count.
There will be a big feed on for minimal cost and the voting starts around midday.
All the best to all teams today. Be proud of your efforts this year and we will see
you front and centre in the 2015 season. CLACK

Well another year is done and dusted and
while on field and on court there hasn’t been
much success, off field we’ve made slow and
steady gains. The installation of floodlighting
at our new training home of Merbein P-10
College was a major achievement for the
club, as was fielding a junior netball side for
the first time in quite a long time.
Finishing your season early has one upside -
your vote counts and presentation evenings
are done and dusted. While most of you were
preparing for round 19, most of us at Merin-
gur were nursing hangovers after a fantastic
Blue and White Ball that included Presenta-
tion evening. Here’s a list of the major

All the best to sides competing today, and
lets hope we can get the blue and white into
finals action next year.
Well what a year it has been for the Nangiloc & District football
netball club for the 2014 season. As my first year in the
presidency role, it was an eye opening yet very rewarding
experience and it is great to see how far the club has come in a
season. This year, we had 4 senior netball sides and also the
return of a junior netball team which is simply fabulous. Our
senior football side saw many changes including welcoming
Nathan Grayling as coach and Brayden Ottray as assistant coach
and haven’t they worked wonders. The positive vibe Nath has
brought to our club is something we want to hold onto, he has brought back massive hope for
this club who hasn’t been very successful for many years now. Some major changes have
occurred around the club with our change rooms being revamped and a new score board- both
look amazing. It just goes to show what can happen with a positive committee and group of
volunteers. Unfortunately on Sunday we just could not get things together but this will fuel
the fire for next year- bring it on I say!!
Thanks to Wheelie- my right hand man who has made my job so much easier. The club has
really come together this year with a goal of making the finals and we succeeded. Considering
it has been 13 years since we made a prelim this is a massive achievement – hats off to
everyone involved! I want to thank the committee and board members; you guys do an
amazing job and give up so much of your time. Thanks to Mandi, this girl is wonder woman
and has thrown her heart and soul into organising some really amazing social functions. The
mid year ball was a huge success and I think it needs to be mentioned that not only has she
organised fundraising for our club, but both Mandi and Megan held a Think Red Family Fun
Day which raised over $1000 for our local CFA- what an amazing effort. Thanks to Kim and
Robert Johnson for cooking teas week in week out- you guys are champions! Also thanks to
Bronc for goal umpiring- we love the way you way your flags. To pluto for time keeping,
Toby and John for running the bar, Cohen Andrews for boundary umpiring, Megan for typing
up the notes each week, to our trainers Cam and Robby for keeping the guys in form, to
Victor for running the gate, to the netballers for running the canteen and everyone else who
helps out our amazing little club – THANK YOU! This year has shown what can happen
when a few positive minds come together. There is so many people to thank so I apologise if I
have forgotten anyone- your help is appreciated.
To our valued sponsors- you are a massive part of our football club and without your support
we would not have gotten this far. To Sunraysia Salads, Telstra business centre, Telstra shop
centro plaza, MFC, Mildura agg Supplies, Morello Fert, Nangiloc store and tavern, Office
everything, oldies concreting, red cliffs parcels, crowe horwarth, mfl, austlink, groves
engineering, rdg electrical, seasol, sos citrus, legassic signs, manna farms, forbes Wilson, agg
tech machinery, e.e.muirs, all about me and house – again if I have forgotten anyone I do
apologise.
I believe the club is heading in the right direction and it is so great to see so many supporters
and life members hanging around the club rooms on game days and Thursday night trainings.
This year has brought back hope to the club and whilst the playing season may be over for us,
we look forward to coming back stronger in 2015 and hopefully going one step further and
making the big day. Good luck to both teams playing this weekend !

Today’s the big day. After months of hard work
including a long pre-season, three of our teams
are playing in today’s grand finals chasing
premiership glory.
Last Sunday the boys in black and white regained some form in their win
over Nangiloc to make it through to a fourth consecutive grand final.
Inaccurate kicking hurt the pies as Nangiloc remained close all day, but
the boys eventually ran out five goal victors and booked a place in
today’s Grand Final against Bambill. Adam Thomson was sensational up
forward, kicking 7 goals. Chris Thomas and Jamie Russell won plenty of
the ball all over the ground, and Reece Crabtree provided a lot of drive
from half back. Cam Williams provided a strong target across half
forward and Isiah Johnson was fantastic up forward and on the ball.
In netball, both our teams playing in preliminary finals had wins and
booked themselves into today’s grand finals. A grade defeated Cardross
30-26 and best on court was Kelly Ryan. They play Bambill at 1pm. B
grade had an impressive 33-20 win over Gol Gol with best on court going
to Olivia McDonald. The play Cardross at 11am. Make sure to support
all our teams in action today.
Don’t forget next Friday 26th
September is our football and netball vote
counts and presentation night. The night will kick off at 6:30pm at our
Aeros rooms and tea will be provided for an entry fee (amount TBC). All
players, members and supporters are encouraged to attend.
We’d also like to thank the players, coaches, supporters, members and
committee who have made 2014a successful year both on and off the
field. A lot of hard work goes on behind the scenes to keep the club
running and it takes a lot of effort from a lot of people. Good luck to our
sides in the grand final today!
As always we would like to thank our generous sponsors who are on
board for season 2014, including Gateway Tavern, Chemist Warehouse,
Werrimull Hotel, Sportspower, Lime Occupation Therapy, Mallee Meats
and More, Horizon Grain Brokers, Crust Pizza and Outback Ag.

Three Times A Charm for the Pies, or will the
Saints Succeed in September?
Grand Final Preview
One side is out for redemption, while the other is striving to put together one of the most suc-
cessful periods of its recent history. Either Bambill or Werrimull will succeed in achieving this at
5pm this afternoon.
Although the Saints hold a 4-0 advantage over the Magpies in this years encounters, and have won 17 of the last
22 played between the two sides, this year’s version of events shapes as being totally different to last years.
Rewind 12 months and Bambill were dominant qualifiers for the Grand Final, and everyone thought it was a
matter of by how much. Werrimull on the other hand played some poor footy leading into September, held off a
fast finishing Gol Gol in the 1st Semi, then demolished a Euston side that looked like it had run its race. They got to
Grand Final day with the belief that as a group if they played their best footy, anything was possible.....and
anything happened!
This year though the sides have been like two veteran prizefighters squaring off. They know the ins and outs of
each other, there are no surprises between the two. The scoreboard flattered Werrimull in the 2nd Semi, with the
inaccuracy of the Saints keeping the black and white in the game till just before 3/4 time. Potentially the pointer
shapes as being the Round 1 encounter, when Bambill got home by a goal in the dying seconds. One can only
hope that we get that sort of contest today.
The game shapes as being won not through the midfield, but in Bambill’s backline and Werrimull’s forwardline.
Two weeks ago the Bambill backs got the better of their opponents. Jake Dickason was outstanding down back,
Danny Auricht will again be a key as his potential matchup with Jamie Keenan will have an influence on the result.
As will the impact Sam Doering has in his matchup with Isaiah Johnson. Johnson can expect to see the Bambill
coach follow him everywhere this afternoon be it up forward or further up the ground. For mine though the most
important player on the ground for either side today is that of Werrimull forward/ruckman Cam Williams. Williams
showed last week that his presence across half forward and providing a target for his team mates is vital to the
success of the Magpies. Williams kicked 3 last week, though the week before went missing. His matchup with ei-
ther Adam Luitjes or Luke Hubble will be vital. Werrimull need targets up forward to help their small forwards and
Williams, along with Jamie Keenan need today to be that day they play their best game of the year.
Bambill seem to have an advantage through the midfield. Kaleb Weight shapes as the most important of Bambill’s
midfield contingent. In last year’s Grand Final, the Saints lost Weight late in the first quarter after he sustained a
heavy knock. They missed his run and ball use. Two weeks ago he was arguably the best player on the ground
with his run, carry and ball use allowing the Bambill forward to lead with confidence, and his team mates to run
forwards. It may be interesting who Danny Thornton sends to Weight. If he chooses to go with a run with type
player the Andrew Seaton-Stewart may get a huge job. Should he go the preferred option though and match him
head to head, either Chris Thomas or Shannon Anthony shapes as Weight’s likely opponent. Thomas has been in
great form thoughout the year, and particularly in the last month. A head to head between the two would be a
mouthwatering prospect.
Werrimull Coach Danny Thornton will spearhead his sides defence, and the inclusion of Mark Thornton for his first
game of the finals series shapes as an important inclusion. The tall defenders of both Thornton brothers, and Mi-
chael Harradine will have vital roles on Luke Stanbrook, Aaron Robson, and Ryan McClelland when he is resting
forward. Throw in Luke Hubble if he plays more forward than back then the questions start to be asked of the
other Werrimull defenders in Larry Petrolo, veteran Matt Kelly and Reece Crabtree. The wildcard for the Saints
could be Brad Thomas. If he goes forward he has shown at times this year his goalkicking nous can be deadly. He
is they type of player where four touches inside 50 can result in 4 goals. One must also not rule out the impact Mi-
chael Hickey could have, after he had an unusually quiet game in the 2nd Semi.
Prediction: At the end of the day it is Bambill who look to be a more cohesive unit than they were 12 months ago.
Thats not to say that Werrimull will not band together and play a game that will enable them to topple their chal-
lenger for the second year running. Expect a tight first half, with the Saints to extend the margin in the second half
and take out this year’s premiership by 22 points.

Preliminary Final ResultsPreliminary Final Results
Well today marks yet another completion of a successful Millewa
netball season.
This year saw an increase in numbers with both Nangiloc and Meringur
fielding all 5 seniors grades, plus the inclusion of junior teams to their
clubs.....This is an awesome effort for those smaller clubs, and a fantastic boost to club
growth, and league progress. This is the first time in several years, that both clubs have
been able to field junior sides..so you guys should be very proud of your
commitment, work, time, resourcing and recruiting players to your clubs. A big pat on the
back to you all.
Today's finals are dominated by Cardross, Bambill, Werrimull and Gol Gol . All clubs in
their respective grades, are quite evenly matched, so it should make for some great
netballing, and fantastic viewing for the spectators. Goodluck to all girls involved, and I
hope this is your year to bring home a flag.
Finally, I would like to take this opportunity to thank our executive committee. To our
Secretary Emma Watt..you have such a big role to play in our league, and you do an
amazing job. No one could do it better. Lan Mills. . not even an executive committee
member, but she has been an absolute asset to our committee, and is both my left and
right hand woman. I can't thank you enough.
Fiona Pike our Treasurer. . wow.. you could not pay me enough to do the job you do. You
well and truly deserve your life membership you received this year. No one understands
the amount of hours your job entails. Kristi Goldup our vice president. The rock. No job is
too big to ask of you.Your there for anything that needs to be done...no questions asked.
All you girls put in a tireless, thankless amount of voluntary time, and effort. Without you,
our league would not be as successful as it is, nor run as smoothly as it does, so thank
you, so very very much.
In conclusion. . I hope you all have a great day today.. and the weather is kind. To those
playing.. play fair, play hard, create memories, dreams, and enjoy!!

A Grade - Bambill vsWerrimull 1:00pm
Three weeks ago no one would have seen this match up coming. Bambill had been dominant for
most of the year, with Werrimull under new coach Ros Rolfe struggling for consistency. However
since the finals have come round, the Magpie girls have switched on. They disposed of Gol Gol and
then used their physical style of play to unsettle Cardross early in last week’s Prelim, and hold on
for the victory. Jo Whittall and Renee Kelly up front were physical from the outset in establishing
position and authority in and around the circle and expect this to be the style they adopt again.
Kelly’s dual with Zoe Crozier will be one of the highlights. At the other end of the court, Chloe Lewis
has been prominent all year, as has her circle partner Tess Houkamau. Jackie Horking’s side has the
height and speed to use to their advantage, and shouldn’t get drawn into the physicality battle.
Bambill have been the class act all year, and hold a 2-0 advantage this year. Their other encounter
though was a high scoring 39 all draw. Expect this one to be similar.
A Reserve - Gol Gol v Bambill. 12:00pm
This 2014 version of the Gol Gol side has taken all before them so far in season 2014. Undefeated,
they took care of Cardross by 10 goals in the 2nd Semi final and earned the week off. Melisa
Hederics has this side running like clockwork this year and only an off day could stop them. Jolene
O’Conner has starred at Shooter this season, and her duel with fellow Team of the Year nominee
Roanna Gathercole could go a long way to determining the result of this match. As will the form of
Saints shooter Georgia Becker. When on song, she is up there with the premier shooters, but she
can miss on occasions and is a confidence player. Their last encounter was back in round 18 where
the Hawks were rampant recording a 22 goal victory. If Gol Gol get the jump, it may just determine
the result.
B Grade - Cardross vWerrimull 11:00am
The top two sides in this grade all year have made it to the big dance and it promises to be an
entertaining and exciting encounter. Having lost only one game all year going into the 2nd Semi two
weeks ago, the Cardy girls were hot favourites to easily advance. However the match was one of the
best of double header day with the Lions only prevailing by 3 goals after extra time. Werrimull
disposed easily of Gol Gol last week to earn another shot at Cardross and this time for the
premiership. The duel between Alanie Sleep from Werrimull and Cardross shooter Caitlin
McKendrick will be critical to the outcome. Should Sleep be switched to the other end, Team of the
Year Keeper Brie Crook will get the job. Werrimull showed that they will not go without a fight, and
don’t be surprised if extra time is needed again to decide this one.
C Grade - Cardross v Gol Gol. 10:00am
Cardross have been one of the three form teams in C Grade all year, and will start favourites. Rita
Lynch Trophy winner Kay O’Toole will lead the charge from the Centre position and her work
throughout the game will be crucial to the Lions’ chances. Her battle with Sphie Lanyon will be one
to watch. Gol Gol have pulled off two giant killing efforts in the last two weeks and will have no fear
in doing it again and pulling off a cheek premiership victory. Experienced shooter Nowie Biddle
and defender Oriel Williams provide a steadying influence to the side and if they get ahead or are
withing 2 with 5 minutes to play, don’t write the Hawks off.
Juniors - Gol Gol v Bambill. 2:00pm
The two premier sides of the competition do battle for the premiership in what could be the last
game in Juniors for many of these girls. Both sides have gun players that can turn a game in this
grade on their own, and both have players experienced in higher grades of Millewa netball.
Bambill’s Bronnee Loy finished Runner Up in the Junior Medal but won the B Grade Trophy. Her play
in the front half of the court and in the circle will be critical. The Gol Gol side plays as a great
defensive unit all over the court. Up front though Ebony Lanyon and Brandi Oliver lead the way and
should help get the job done for the young Hawks.

A Message fromthe President Today sees the culmination of yet another season of Millewa Football and Netball. Congratulations to both the Bambill and Werrimull Football Clubs on making it to the final day of the season not only in football, but also in the A Grade netball. To Cardross and Gol Gol who have also qualified sides in to- day’s other netball finals, well done on your efforts this year. Congratulations to this year’s McDonald Medalist Clint Burdett of Gol Gol. Clint has had a superb year and has stood out amongst his team mates. Well done also to our runner up Cam Peters, who has had another amazing year for Nangiloc. This year saw a resurgence by Nangiloc up the ladder. The interest and support that they received from their local community, as well as the wider football community in Sunraysia has been fantastic. Let us hope that they continue to be strong in the years to come and build on the success of 2014. At the other end of the table its been a tough year for Gol Gol, Cardross, Meringur and Euston on the football fields. Without these sides though our competition can not exist. Not everyone can make it to the last Saturday of the year, and I hope that seeing others enjoy success drives you during the off season to make your clubs stronger, but also sustainable in years to come. A strong cohort of clubs can only im- prove the strength of the league as a collective. This year also saw us struggle for umpires appointed to matches. I would personally like to thank Danny Mannix for taking on the role of coordinating our crew of club umpires and to these guys for officiating our matches. Without them, the league would not have functioned this year. From a guide point of view this final edition of the year is packed with information, including detailed results and McDonald Medal votes of every game played this year, netball best and fairest summaries, our MFL and MNA teams of the year, plus all the details required for today’s football and netball matches. Many thanks to the team at Sunnyland Press who have again printed the guide and help me each week to produce a quality publication. As my first year as President comes to a close, I feel that the league has made improvements in a num- ber of key areas, and we’ll seek to build on these next year with one or two new innovations. As the season comes to a close at the traditional home of the Millewa Football League on a beautiful early spring day, I hope that whatever the outcome you enjoy the spectacle and have a great day at Lake Cullulleraine. Grand final dayhas arrived and once again the Bambill Football/Netball Club is very well represented with 3 netball sides and the footy all making it to the final game of the year. Congratulations to all teams that have made it through and commiserations to those that fell just short. We all started 2014 with high expectations of what we felt we could achieve as a club. Many hours of hard work training and preparing have all come down to this one final game. All that hard work culminates in one match. Winner takes all. Pressure is on all participants, but that is exactly why we play. To have earned this opportunity, and to embrace the pressure and use it to drive you to give you’re all for the ultimate team success. That’s what today is all about. Today gives the club the opportunity to thank all our supports, members and sponsors for all your support during 2014. We have an extremely loyal group of sponsors and members/supporters and Bambill FNC is extremely grateful for all you do for our club. Today is just as much about you as it is for the players. Today, another seasondraws to a close. Everyone is a year older and one year further past (or closer to) their sexual peak. For one football and five netball teams, today is the long road to premiership glory. At today’s Grand Final, Gol Gol is represented in three netball grades – ‘A’ Reserve, ‘C’ Grade and the Juniors. The ‘A’ Reserve and the Juniors have travelled similar paths to this year’s Grand Final match – both being dominant throughout the course of the home and away season, with the Juniors conceding only one match to the opposition and the ‘A’ Reserve team yet to taste defeat. As we know, all of that counts for nothing now. Today it is completely back to square. The ‘C’ Grade’s journey has been quite different – they have come from the clouds! They finished the year in fourth position (eight wins), but toppled top placed Bambill last week to advance to today’s game. That effort was nothing short of sensational and they surely must go into today’s game confident that they have one more upset performance left in the tank. All the best to the skirts today! The ‘B’ Grade, ‘A’ Grade and the footballers miss out this year, which is naturally disappointing for the players and the associated coaching staff. Hopefully this fuels the burning fire within to improve over the off-season and look at next year as another opportunity for success. Well done to Melise for her coaching contribution of three teams and Dick for his commitment this year, often under trying circumstances. Both coaches will know that the role can be all consuming and becomes like a second life. No one underestimates your effort, so from all involved, thank you. There is a countless number of people and organisations that requiring acknowledgement, such is their contribution to the general running and the overall existence of the club. Attention will be directed towards these people both tomorrow at our vote count and in a few weeks at the Trentham Estate Presentation Day. Briefly, the Golly Footy and Netball Club would like to extend a big thanks to our major sponsor, the Gol Gol Hotel, and to our awesome president Benny Sobkowiak. With the wonderful assistance from his 14 strong committee, Ben has delivered fresh, personal and intuitive leadership that the club desperately needed. The result is improved stability and a strong sense of the ‘Golly of old’ returning. If you haven’t handed in your Suzuki raffle tickets yet, you are late, so expect to be hounded. This unbelievable prize will be drawn on AFL Grand Final eve at the Golly pub – don’t’ miss it! As well, don’t forget to make plans to get back to the clubrooms tomorrow for a few frothies for the netball and football vote count. There will be a big feed on for minimal cost and the voting starts around midday. All the best to all teams today. Be proud of your efforts this year and we will see you front and centre in the 2015 season. CLACK

Well what ayear it has been for the Nangiloc & District football netball club for the 2014 season. As my first year in the presidency role, it was an eye opening yet very rewarding experience and it is great to see how far the club has come in a season. This year, we had 4 senior netball sides and also the return of a junior netball team which is simply fabulous. Our senior football side saw many changes including welcoming Nathan Grayling as coach and Brayden Ottray as assistant coach and haven’t they worked wonders. The positive vibe Nath has brought to our club is something we want to hold onto, he has brought back massive hope for this club who hasn’t been very successful for many years now. Some major changes have occurred around the club with our change rooms being revamped and a new score board- both look amazing. It just goes to show what can happen with a positive committee and group of volunteers. Unfortunately on Sunday we just could not get things together but this will fuel the fire for next year- bring it on I say!! Thanks to Wheelie- my right hand man who has made my job so much easier. The club has really come together this year with a goal of making the finals and we succeeded. Considering it has been 13 years since we made a prelim this is a massive achievement – hats off to everyone involved! I want to thank the committee and board members; you guys do an amazing job and give up so much of your time. Thanks to Mandi, this girl is wonder woman and has thrown her heart and soul into organising some really amazing social functions. The mid year ball was a huge success and I think it needs to be mentioned that not only has she organised fundraising for our club, but both Mandi and Megan held a Think Red Family Fun Day which raised over $1000 for our local CFA- what an amazing effort. Thanks to Kim and Robert Johnson for cooking teas week in week out- you guys are champions! Also thanks to Bronc for goal umpiring- we love the way you way your flags. To pluto for time keeping, Toby and John for running the bar, Cohen Andrews for boundary umpiring, Megan for typing up the notes each week, to our trainers Cam and Robby for keeping the guys in form, to Victor for running the gate, to the netballers for running the canteen and everyone else who helps out our amazing little club – THANK YOU! This year has shown what can happen when a few positive minds come together. There is so many people to thank so I apologise if I have forgotten anyone- your help is appreciated. To our valued sponsors- you are a massive part of our football club and without your support we would not have gotten this far. To Sunraysia Salads, Telstra business centre, Telstra shop centro plaza, MFC, Mildura agg Supplies, Morello Fert, Nangiloc store and tavern, Office everything, oldies concreting, red cliffs parcels, crowe horwarth, mfl, austlink, groves engineering, rdg electrical, seasol, sos citrus, legassic signs, manna farms, forbes Wilson, agg tech machinery, e.e.muirs, all about me and house – again if I have forgotten anyone I do apologise. I believe the club is heading in the right direction and it is so great to see so many supporters and life members hanging around the club rooms on game days and Thursday night trainings. This year has brought back hope to the club and whilst the playing season may be over for us, we look forward to coming back stronger in 2015 and hopefully going one step further and making the big day. Good luck to both teams playing this weekend !

After months of hard work including a long pre-season, three of our teams are playing in today’s grand finals chasing premiership glory. Last Sunday the boys in black and white regained some form in their win over Nangiloc to make it through to a fourth consecutive grand final. Inaccurate kicking hurt the pies as Nangiloc remained close all day, but the boys eventually ran out five goal victors and booked a place in today’s Grand Final against Bambill. Adam Thomson was sensational up forward, kicking 7 goals. Chris Thomas and Jamie Russell won plenty of the ball all over the ground, and Reece Crabtree provided a lot of drive from half back. Cam Williams provided a strong target across half forward and Isiah Johnson was fantastic up forward and on the ball. In netball, both our teams playing in preliminary finals had wins and booked themselves into today’s grand finals. A grade defeated Cardross 30-26 and best on court was Kelly Ryan. They play Bambill at 1pm. B grade had an impressive 33-20 win over Gol Gol with best on court going to Olivia McDonald. The play Cardross at 11am. Make sure to support all our teams in action today. Don’t forget next Friday 26th September is our football and netball vote counts and presentation night. The night will kick off at 6:30pm at our Aeros rooms and tea will be provided for an entry fee (amount TBC). All players, members and supporters are encouraged to attend. We’d also like to thank the players, coaches, supporters, members and committee who have made 2014a successful year both on and off the field. Three Times ACharm for the Pies, or will the Saints Succeed in September? Grand Final Preview One side is out for redemption, while the other is striving to put together one of the most suc- cessful periods of its recent history. Either Bambill or Werrimull will succeed in achieving this at 5pm this afternoon. Although the Saints hold a 4-0 advantage over the Magpies in this years encounters, and have won 17 of the last 22 played between the two sides, this year’s version of events shapes as being totally different to last years. Rewind 12 months and Bambill were dominant qualifiers for the Grand Final, and everyone thought it was a matter of by how much. Werrimull on the other hand played some poor footy leading into September, held off a fast finishing Gol Gol in the 1st Semi, then demolished a Euston side that looked like it had run its race. They got to Grand Final day with the belief that as a group if they played their best footy, anything was possible.....and anything happened! This year though the sides have been like two veteran prizefighters squaring off. They know the ins and outs of each other, there are no surprises between the two. The scoreboard flattered Werrimull in the 2nd Semi, with the inaccuracy of the Saints keeping the black and white in the game till just before 3/4 time. Potentially the pointer shapes as being the Round 1 encounter, when Bambill got home by a goal in the dying seconds. One can only hope that we get that sort of contest today. The game shapes as being won not through the midfield, but in Bambill’s backline and Werrimull’s forwardline. Two weeks ago the Bambill backs got the better of their opponents. Jake Dickason was outstanding down back, Danny Auricht will again be a key as his potential matchup with Jamie Keenan will have an influence on the result. As will the impact Sam Doering has in his matchup with Isaiah Johnson. Johnson can expect to see the Bambill coach follow him everywhere this afternoon be it up forward or further up the ground. For mine though the most important player on the ground for either side today is that of Werrimull forward/ruckman Cam Williams. Williams showed last week that his presence across half forward and providing a target for his team mates is vital to the success of the Magpies. Williams kicked 3 last week, though the week before went missing. His matchup with ei- ther Adam Luitjes or Luke Hubble will be vital. Werrimull need targets up forward to help their small forwards and Williams, along with Jamie Keenan need today to be that day they play their best game of the year. Bambill seem to have an advantage through the midfield. Kaleb Weight shapes as the most important of Bambill’s midfield contingent. In last year’s Grand Final, the Saints lost Weight late in the first quarter after he sustained a heavy knock. They missed his run and ball use. Two weeks ago he was arguably the best player on the ground with his run, carry and ball use allowing the Bambill forward to lead with confidence, and his team mates to run forwards. It may be interesting who Danny Thornton sends to Weight. If he chooses to go with a run with type player the Andrew Seaton-Stewart may get a huge job. Should he go the preferred option though and match him head to head, either Chris Thomas or Shannon Anthony shapes as Weight’s likely opponent. Thomas has been in great form thoughout the year, and particularly in the last month. A head to head between the two would be a mouthwatering prospect. Werrimull Coach Danny Thornton will spearhead his sides defence, and the inclusion of Mark Thornton for his first game of the finals series shapes as an important inclusion. The tall defenders of both Thornton brothers, and Mi- chael Harradine will have vital roles on Luke Stanbrook, Aaron Robson, and Ryan McClelland when he is resting forward. Throw in Luke Hubble if he plays more forward than back then the questions start to be asked of the other Werrimull defenders in Larry Petrolo, veteran Matt Kelly and Reece Crabtree. The wildcard for the Saints could be Brad Thomas. If he goes forward he has shown at times this year his goalkicking nous can be deadly. He is they type of player where four touches inside 50 can result in 4 goals. One must also not rule out the impact Mi- chael Hickey could have, after he had an unusually quiet game in the 2nd Semi. Prediction: At the end of the day it is Bambill who look to be a more cohesive unit than they were 12 months ago. Thats not to say that Werrimull will not band together and play a game that will enable them to topple their chal- lenger for the second year running. Expect a tight first half, with the Saints to extend the margin in the second half and take out this year’s premiership by 22 points.

This year saw an increase in numbers with both Nangiloc and Meringur fielding all 5 seniors grades, plus the inclusion of junior teams to their clubs.....This is an awesome effort for those smaller clubs, and a fantastic boost to club growth, and league progress. This is the first time in several years, that both clubs have been able to field junior sides..so you guys should be very proud of your commitment, work, time, resourcing and recruiting players to your clubs. A big pat on the back to you all. Today's finals are dominated by Cardross, Bambill, Werrimull and Gol Gol . All clubs in their respective grades, are quite evenly matched, so it should make for some great netballing, and fantastic viewing for the spectators. Goodluck to all girls involved, and I hope this is your year to bring home a flag. Finally, I would like to take this opportunity to thank our executive committee. To our Secretary Emma Watt..you have such a big role to play in our league, and you do an amazing job. No one could do it better. Lan Mills. . not even an executive committee member, but she has been an absolute asset to our committee, and is both my left and right hand woman. I can't thank you enough. Fiona Pike our Treasurer. . wow.. you could not pay me enough to do the job you do. You well and truly deserve your life membership you received this year. No one understands the amount of hours your job entails. Kristi Goldup our vice president. The rock. No job is too big to ask of you.Your there for anything that needs to be done...no questions asked. All you girls put in a tireless, thankless amount of voluntary time, and effort. Without you, our league would not be as successful as it is, nor run as smoothly as it does, so thank you, so very very much. In conclusion. . I hope you all have a great day today.. and the weather is kind. To those playing.. play fair, play hard, create memories, dreams, and enjoy!! Kylie Hutchins President, Millewa Netball Association

A Grade -Bambill vsWerrimull 1:00pm Three weeks ago no one would have seen this match up coming. Bambill had been dominant for most of the year, with Werrimull under new coach Ros Rolfe struggling for consistency. However since the finals have come round, the Magpie girls have switched on. They disposed of Gol Gol and then used their physical style of play to unsettle Cardross early in last week’s Prelim, and hold on for the victory. Jo Whittall and Renee Kelly up front were physical from the outset in establishing position and authority in and around the circle and expect this to be the style they adopt again. Kelly’s dual with Zoe Crozier will be one of the highlights. At the other end of the court, Chloe Lewis has been prominent all year, as has her circle partner Tess Houkamau. Jackie Horking’s side has the height and speed to use to their advantage, and shouldn’t get drawn into the physicality battle. Bambill have been the class act all year, and hold a 2-0 advantage this year. Their other encounter though was a high scoring 39 all draw. Expect this one to be similar. A Reserve - Gol Gol v Bambill. 12:00pm This 2014 version of the Gol Gol side has taken all before them so far in season 2014. Undefeated, they took care of Cardross by 10 goals in the 2nd Semi final and earned the week off. Melisa Hederics has this side running like clockwork this year and only an off day could stop them. Jolene O’Conner has starred at Shooter this season, and her duel with fellow Team of the Year nominee Roanna Gathercole could go a long way to determining the result of this match. As will the form of Saints shooter Georgia Becker. When on song, she is up there with the premier shooters, but she can miss on occasions and is a confidence player. Their last encounter was back in round 18 where the Hawks were rampant recording a 22 goal victory. If Gol Gol get the jump, it may just determine the result. B Grade - Cardross vWerrimull 11:00am The top two sides in this grade all year have made it to the big dance and it promises to be an entertaining and exciting encounter. Having lost only one game all year going into the 2nd Semi two weeks ago, the Cardy girls were hot favourites to easily advance. However the match was one of the best of double header day with the Lions only prevailing by 3 goals after extra time. Werrimull disposed easily of Gol Gol last week to earn another shot at Cardross and this time for the premiership. The duel between Alanie Sleep from Werrimull and Cardross shooter Caitlin McKendrick will be critical to the outcome. Should Sleep be switched to the other end, Team of the Year Keeper Brie Crook will get the job. Werrimull showed that they will not go without a fight, and don’t be surprised if extra time is needed again to decide this one. C Grade - Cardross v Gol Gol. 10:00am Cardross have been one of the three form teams in C Grade all year, and will start favourites. Rita Lynch Trophy winner Kay O’Toole will lead the charge from the Centre position and her work throughout the game will be crucial to the Lions’ chances. Her battle with Sphie Lanyon will be one to watch. Gol Gol have pulled off two giant killing efforts in the last two weeks and will have no fear in doing it again and pulling off a cheek premiership victory. Experienced shooter Nowie Biddle and defender Oriel Williams provide a steadying influence to the side and if they get ahead or are withing 2 with 5 minutes to play, don’t write the Hawks off. Juniors - Gol Gol v Bambill. 2:00pm The two premier sides of the competition do battle for the premiership in what could be the last game in Juniors for many of these girls. Both sides have gun players that can turn a game in this grade on their own, and both have players experienced in higher grades of Millewa netball. Bambill’s Bronnee Loy finished Runner Up in the Junior Medal but won the B Grade Trophy. Her play in the front half of the court and in the circle will be critical. The Gol Gol side plays as a great defensive unit all over the court. Up front though Ebony Lanyon and Brandi Oliver lead the way and should help get the job done for the young Hawks.
