Honorable Character Essay
I firmly believe that one needs to be of honorable character to be a great leader, but to have honorable character one must develop it over time.
Living next door to my grandparents, I remember my mother saying, "Go help your grandfather because he is cutting the grass," or "Go help your
grandmother with the groceries." Eventually it became a natural thing to do; to go over their house and help with whatever they needed. As I grew
older, my parents encouraged me to be socially involved in extra–curricular activities bringing me more responsibilities. I started tutoring afterschool,
read to kindergarten students during "El DГa del Nino.", helped during "Clean our beach day", filled boxes with food items and helped deliver them to

We sat down with Texas Senator Eddie Lucio Jr. and discussed three pertinent issues affecting public schools in the Rio Grande Valley:school
vouchers, accountability, and cyber bullying. Being a young Hispanic, I felt it was my civic duty to take part in the student caucus.
I am also a Harlingen Heroes 4–Health Ambassador; a group of teens that conduct presentations and activities to students on the importance of
maintaining healthy lifestyles. I am involved with the Harlingen Smokebusters; a group that talks to students on the dangers of tobacco and smoking.
From our efforts, we were instrumental in making the city of Harlingen become smoke–free.
John Quincy Adams once stated, "If your actions inspire others to dream more, learn more, do more, and become more, you are a leader." Throughout
the years I have personally met students from different backgrounds and have bonded with teachers, community members and business owners. They
know that I am a person with integrity, strong work ethics, trusting, responsible, and committed to my academics and my community. I believe these
are the traits that make a leader and describes a person of honorable

The Kite Runner: Character Analysis. Essay
TMuhammad A. Khan English (A). Period (5). The Kite Runner Character Analysis. 1) Amir: Born in Kabul, Afghanistan, Amir was the son of a
wealthy social worker. He was brought up with the son of his servant, and perhaps his only best friend, Hassan. Amir had a rocky relation with his
father. At times, it seemed as his father loved him but those moments didn't lasted forever. He thinks Baba (his father) wishes Amir were more like
him, and that Baba holds him responsible for killing his mother, who died during his birth. Despite being best friends, Amir thinks that Hassan is
beneath him because he belonged to an inferior cast. He used to mock him jokingly or tried to outsmart him. In all fairness, it was Amir's cowardly
nature that...show more content...
Here, the narrator, Amir refers this to the first smile of Sohrab, Hassan's blood. It gave him a sense of satisfaction as if Hassan and Baba have
forgiven him from the crimes of his childhood. 2) Hassan: The illegitimate son of Baba and Amir's half–brother (which he didn't knew until after
Hassan's death), Hassan was a truly good and beautiful person even though he's had his fair share of hard times. In my opinion, Hassan has it tougher
than Amir from the beginning. Not only did Hassan lose his mother (like Amir), his mother flat–out rejected him But Hassan, unlike Amir, is a selfless
and joy–filled creature. They spent most their childhood together playing games, reading books and flying kites until that fateful day where he was
deprived of his pride. Hassan had a very good relation with Baba as it would later prove out to be his father as well. After the war stricken years,
Rahim Khan asked him to come back to the house in Kabul and agrees after thinking about it. He felt that he was near Amir by living in that house
and that he's loyal. His loyalty and integrity are the essence of his character. He and his wife were slaughtered by the Talibans in the earlier part of
2000, thus ending the life on an inspiring individual. Quotes: " For you, a thousand times over". This one sentence sums up the immense love, loyalty
and friendship Hassan had for Amir. 3) Baba: Rahim Khan gives Baba his "famous nickname, 'Mr. Hurricane' .At times Baba seems

My Character Essay
My character has both opened and closed many doors for me in life. Most of the time you will see that I'm very laid back and relaxed.
Independence is one of my key qualities. I never like to bother people with my problems because ultimately they're not always going to be there for
you. I roam around in silence; being loud and obnoxious is not something that has ever given me much success in life. I try to conquer a healthy and
happy lifestyle, but you know how that usually goes. I am pretty athletic I believe because I have put in so much hard work and dedicated even more
time to football throughout my eighteen years of life. My life experiences have given me a rebellious trait. For example, whenever I get yelled at in

I didn't have a great childhood, mainly growing up around drugs, gangs, and gunshots every night, but when I got older my friends were the ones
who saved me from all that madness by taking me into their arms and drifting me away from the wrong crowds. Now, I go back and see them and
they're those people I thought they would never be. Drugs run far in the public schools of Massachusetts now that I realize it, a lot of my friends
are now heavy drug addicts. When you think of drugs in high school, you think of the basic marijuana, but that's not the case. They are doing the
real deal, which are heroin and cocaine. They've been sucked into a dark abyss where I can't save them, not because I don't know how, which I do
know, but because I'm so far away that what I say over text or social media to them won't ever be enough to try to change their mind. I just wish
that one day they realize what wrong they are doing and seek help, come back to the reality of life instead of trying to escape through the
imagination world drugs take you to. I guess the only good outcome from all this is the lessons I learn from my family and friends. Seeing their
wrong doings have given me a good sense of what to do in life and what not to do, and that

Essay on Qualities That Build Strong Character
Does your character have what it takes? Sam Haskell states in his book, Promises I Made My Mother, "When you take away everything, when you
strip a person of the superficial add–ons, all they have left is their true self"(14). This quote stood out to me because in the world today we base
everything we have on physical appearance or by how many material things we can collect. In college we will get to experience many new things
and our character will be tested, I plan to work hard to uphold my morals and stay true to myself. Sam also says that "Character is the core of our
being" (14); it is what really holds us together and what we should strive to be true to. To me, the qualities that make a strong character are honesty,

I believe honesty is the best thing to build a friendship on. The second quality that makes a strong character is hard work. By working hard through
the next few years I hope to achieve my goal of becoming a pharmacist. Hard work always has its rewards later down the road; they may not come
instantly but take time to build up this past year without any kind of warning my dad lost his job in January. After he lost his job, I took on more
responsibilities to help out as much as I could. I worked to try to take some stress off my dad by working in the yard so that he would not have to, I cut
back on going out on the weekends with my friends, and working hard in school to make sure my grades were really good. I also had to work hard to
have patience with God to answer my prayer that my dad would find another job. Finally, almost a year later in December, God answered my prayer.
My dad found out he got the job he interviewed for on Christmas day. That was that best Christmas present I could have asked for. I was rewarded in
that I knew my dad's burden had been lifted. Not long ago, my cousin said to me, "College is going to be tough, but if you think about how long your
life is your college years will fly by. What you do in college will define what is going to happen in the rest of your life." Right then I decided that I was
going to give it my all and work hard to get the best grades possible.

How Is Emma A Dynamic Character
Characters in Emma are very realistic; they are round and dynamic in the sense that they have complicated interpersonal relationship and go through
complex emotions and thoughts. Characters are not always believable because they are often too deeply attached to the Victorian manners, which
makes them cover up their true emotions and thoughts with polite actions and flattery words.
One interesting point about the characters is the way they first appear in the novel. According to Language and Character in Jane Austen'sEmma, the
characters are introduced to the novel in a very systematic way: "first they appear in narrative passages, their mode of expression is than imitated in
free indirect speech, after which they are introduced dramatically,...show more content...
Emma Woodhouse, the protagonist of the novel, continuously builds and breaks interpersonal relationship in Highbury, going through emotional
changes and experiencing growth in mental maturity in doing so. There is no antagonist in the novel. Instead, there are minor characters, including
George Knightley, Frank Churchill, Harriet Smith, Jane Fairfax, and the Eltons, who incessantly communicate with Emma. They act as foils to Emma
and lead the plot toward the ending with all characters with best–suited spouses (Austen; Lemos). To describe major characters in detail, Emma
Woodhouse is a 20–year old girl and is the youngest daughter of Mr. Woodhouse, the owner of Hartfield. She is beautiful, well–educated, but haughty.
Her arrogant attitude is revealed in her thoughts about the Coles in chapter 25:
[The Coles] were of low origin, in trade, and only moderately genteel ... but the last year or two had brought them a considerable increase of means–the
house in town had yielded greater profits ... The Coles were very respectable in their way, but they ought to be taught that it was not for them to arrange
the terms on which the superior families would visit them. This lesson, she [Emma] very much feared, they would receive only from herself. (Austen

The Importance Of Character
According to Merriam–Webster, character is "The group of qualities that make a person, group, or thing different from others." Character is the way
a person reasons, feels, and acts. It is a state of being and not doing. The choices and decisions that are made when no one is watching typically
exemplifies the real you. Most of us tend to make better decisions when others are watching to protect our reputations. For some reason, we want
people to think of us in a certain manner; therefore, we behave the way others think we should. I personally know people that act a certain way
when others are watching, but behind closed doors they are a completely different person. This is hypocritical behavior. A hypocrite is a person that
says one thing and does another. Often times, their words are not consistent with their actions and deeds. A person of integrity will be who they are
regardless of where they are and who they are with. They will not change. If you want to test a person's character, just observe how they treat the
people whom they have authority or advantage over. Malcolm Forbes, publisher of Forbes magazine, states, "You can easily judge the character of a
man by how he treats those who can do nothing for him." Character is one of the most important things we possess. A person's nature and temperament
will sustain them and determine the course of their lives. The condition of our hearts can be perceived by our actions, attitudes, reactions, and responses;

The Importance of Good Character Essay
Why is character important? Why is it important to be a person of good morals, ethics, and character? Can that make you more productive in life,
family, school, business, work, etc. ? Well, good moral, ethics, and character has NEVER hurt anyone. President Abraham Lincoln once said,
"Reputation is the shadow. Character is the tree." To many, this quote means that Character is like a tree which bears the shadow of their reputation
whether it be good or bad. "I have no regrets in my life. I think that everything happens to you for a reason. The hard times that you go through build
character, making you a much stronger person." – Rita Moreno As seen in these quotes, character is important, and it determines your reputation in

Good character/characteristics also show leadership and value. Not only to the people around you, but to the marketplace (where you work). Let's
put this into perspective. IF..... you were the employer or manager of a company: the person in charge of hiring and firing, which person would
you hire? Person 1 or Person 2 ? Person 1: Well, I went to this school, and I have this degree, and I know that when you hire me I'll make the MOST
for this company. You have never seen anyone like me. You should be glad that I'm even here in your office today. So... are you gonna take me, or
leave me? Person 2: Well Mr./Mrs. _________, I'm so honored to be here today. I'm grateful that you took the time to interview me. I might not
have all the credentials for this position with your company, but I am willing to learn whatever you teach me. If you teach me, I'll do my very best
at my job, and will work at doing it to the best of my ability. Now that your thinking about these two different people (that your considering to hire)
which one would you choose? Person 1 or Person 2 ? Well, the majority of us would choose Person 2. Why?? Because Person 2 shows that they are
humble, teachable, and grateful. We wouldn't hire Person 1 because they appeared as arrogant, "stuck–up", and maybe even pushy. My point is simply
this. Not just your mannerism, but your character can be seen through how you speak, carry yourself,

Character Archetypes
In Dan Brown's The Da Vinci Code, the repeating character archetype seen is the rich villain. This archetype is seen in Leigh Teabing, the main
antagonist in the novel. This archetype influences the way people see wealthy people in society. It influences the average middle class person into
thinking that money will corrupt them, that those with money are not trustworthy and sexist. The character archetype, the rich villain, influences
people into thinking that money corrupts those who come across it. In Kristy Maddux's article, "he da Vinci Code and the Regressive Gender Politics

In the article "The da Vinci Code and the Regressive Gender Politics of Celebrating Women", Kristy states, ". Ultimately, Teabing is arrested, and
Neveu and Langdon are left to unravel Sauniere's trail"(Maddux, 3). This quote states that Leigh Teabing gets arrested which proves that he is the
villain. At first, Robert Langdon and Sophie trusted Leigh Teabing but he turned out to be a liar. The other antagonists in this novel who also betray
the people around them are rich. This causes people to believe that those who are rich are not trustworthy. Also, the two characters in the story who
are trustworthy, Robert Langdon and Sophie Neveu, are not shown to have a significant amount of wealth. This just amplifies the influence that the
rich villain archetype has on people. The novel portrays those who are rich as untrustworthy and betrayers, and portrays those who are not rich as
trustworthy. Another example of the rich villain who influences people into believing that those with money are not trustworthy is Donald Trump. A
creative video piece made my John Oliver called "Last Week Tonight With John Oliver: Donald Trump", explains how untrustworthy Donald Trump
really is. In the piece, John Oliver says, "The website politifacts checks 77 of his statements and rated 76 percent of them as varying degrees of false"
(Oliver, 2:30). This quote explains how more than three quarters of Donald Trump's statements are lies. This also influences people into thinking that
those with money are not trustworthy because he is always talking about how rich he is and he is beginning to cause people to create connections
between his wealth and his lying habits. He tells people he is rich and he lies so often that people have began to correlate those two traits with each
other. That is how the archetype of the rich villain is influencing people into thinking that those who

What Is The Shaping Of My Character
In my first essay "The Shaping of My Character" it was a narrative so, it was easier to write this because it was all about my experiences. I wrote it
on the Golden Rule and how just witnessing cruelty let me know, that wasn't how I wanted to be. The rule facilitated the women I am today. The essay

Looking back at the essay I could have elaborated on some parts. Development is a fault of mine; I will keep working on that. My topic sentence

Character, Morals, Integrity Essay
Character, Morals, Integrity Morals, character, integrity, what do these words mean....actually, the question is, do you have them. A man named
Dwight Moody once said, "Character is what you are in the dark." You cannot see your morals, character, or integrity, these are only shown as your
values. Someone could only show their own values, which are very important to themselves and everyone else. Integrity is the firm adherence to a
code of especially moral or artistic values. The way you show your integrity, character, and morals or how they are effect you in either a negative or

Laura stated, "integrity effects you by either being honest or not. If you are honest, then you have integrity. People who say that they are going to
do something do it." You can now see that character, morals, and integrity are very important. Secondly, people may think that their values may
not affect them, but they're wrong, they affect them a lot. Since character describes how you are and what your moral strengths are, having bad
character could make people dislike you because of how you are. On the other hand, if you have good character, then more people would see how
good of a person you are and even more people would like you. Morals sort of describe the way you make decisions, so having bad morals could
guide your life down the drain, while having good morals could guide your life minute by minute toward noble goals. Integrity is also very important.
Having bad integrity could make you very non–trustworthy to others. Having good integrity would make you very trustworthy to others. Knowing
how important they are, you should always have good or even better character, morals, and integrity. Also, there are many causes for how your
character, morals, and integrity are. One cause could of course be yourself. By hanging out with the right people and making good decisions, you
could have good values. Yet hanging out with the wrong people and making bad decisions would be having bad values. Another cause may

Character Reflection
Generally, literature imitates life; the authors write about the tragic consequences of covetous lifestyles to provoke readers. Consequently, after being
inspired from these works, readers become enraged and demand a moral change in their lives. Of course, these realizations are built on the belief that
their lives are filled with too much selfishness so they must become gratified. However, these moral transformations occur and are unsuccessful
because people do not change. While I emphasize this belief of mine, I must point out: one's moral beliefs, their character, their principles, their truths,
all do not change. Moreover, people's lifestyles, appearance, thoughts, and behaviors do transform as they grow. Once faced with idolization, one will
learn of other's true and immutable character. What one owns, how they spend their time, and who they associate themselves with, shows one's
indisputable nature. Regardless if an opulent possession was being earned or given, the novelty will reveal one's true and unchanging character. While

Character is Fate – Essay
"A man's character is his fate" once said the Greek philosopher Heraclites. By this he meant that our personalities and actions shape the outcomes of our
lives and therefore our destiny. This statement opposes the traditional view that man's fate is determined by an external force (name it god or even
chance). This argument is basically one of faith: do you believe we shape our own futures by how we act, or are our lives programmed in a certain
unchangeable way? In other words, do you believe in an omnipotent being that has our lives or at least our futures predetermined? As we shall see, a
man's character defines his life (as his behaviour, emotions and actions determine his daily life), but I believe that our...show more content...
I believe that this is a matter of chance (the fact that a good person might get in the way of a bad one and therefore have a terrible outcome which his
/her character doesn't reflect) and even tough we might have a certain personality that should lead us to a consequent destiny, unexpected and random
variables get in the way and might change the course of our fates.
Definitely our character will have an important role to play in determining the outcomes of our lives, but from this idea we can draw the idea that
although character controls our life, we can't control our fates: our fates are predestined. We can call these omnipotent force God, devil, providence
or chance, but the fact is that our fate has already been planned for us and even if we could change our character (making us believe that we are
changing our fate), we are only changing direction into a fate we think is new, but in reality is the fate that was always predestined for us.
Furthermore, character is not the only factor in determining our lives. We must consider external factors such as the environment, nature and fortune.
For example, in the novel 'The Mayor of Casterbridge' by Thomas Hardy, the main character, Mr. Henchard organizes a fair for the townspeople in
order to show the people that despite what he appears to be, he is really kind and humane. Everything turns out wrong for him because heavy rain ruins

Definition Essay On Good Character
According to the Merriam Webster Dictionary, character is defined as, "one of the attribute or features that make up and distinguish an individual" or "a
feature used to separate distinguishable things into categories." With these two definitions it becomes easy to apply them to human context. In the first
definition it defines character as something that distinguishes an individual. Many things can distinguish you from someone else, this can include but
not be limited to, work ethic, grades, respect, responsibility, and honesty. All these things are also life skills, things that will help you in the future.

entirely disregard you when no good character is shown, doors will close, opportunities will be wasted, and rejections will be made. But if the

There are many character traits that make someone successful in life. Some traits you are born with, other traits are mindsets. There are a few
character traits that coaches, teachers, bosses, or any other significant figure looks for in particular. One of the most important character traits is a
hard–working attitude. You aren't born with a hard–working attitude. It is a mindset. You may not be the best employee, but an employer will be more

Because of my decision, he chose to kick me out of practice. I knew at that point that I could take no breaks. While I was taking breaks, other
people were getting better. Chances to improve were very slim, so I needed to take advantage of them whenever possible. Although this was a very

Does Character Matter
Does character matter? Why or why not?
Having character in any field where you work with other, matter a lot. In education, character is very important. Just as McEwan states "Character, or
lack of it, is a hot topic in schools today, Educators are desperate to create more humane and caring schools–not only as an antidote to prejudice and
violence from within but also to the hatred and terrorism without. Character–building programs are more the rule than the exception, and many states
now mandate them" (McEwan, 2003). Character helps a lot when it comes to educating our students. But before we can teach students about character
traits, we need to make sure school staff members have character. It is important that the leaders in the school lead

Severus Snape : Fictional Character Essay
Severus Snape is a fictional character in J.K. Rowling's Harry Potter series. He is characterised as a person of great complexity, whose coldly
sarcastic and controlled exterior conceals deep emotions and anguish. In the first novel of the series, Snape is a teacher who is hostile from the start
toward Harry. As the series progresses, Snape 's character becomes more layered and enigmatic. Rowling does not fully reveal the details of his true
loyalties until the end of the final book, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. Over the course of the series, Snape 's portrayal evolves from that of a
malicious and partisan teacher to that of a pivotal character of considerable intricacy and moral ambiguity.
In the series, Snape is an exceptionally skilful wizard who primarily teaches Potions at Hogwarts School. In the sixth novel, he teaches Defence
Against the Dark Arts, a position which he was known to have desired throughout the series. For much of the series, Snape 's actions seem to serve
Harry Potter 's nemesis, Lord Voldemort, although Harry 's mentor, Dumbledore, often advises Harry that– despite his actions and animosity – Snape
is trustworthy and his true loyalties can be relied upon. He ultimately becomes Headmaster of Hogwarts in the final novel, after killing Dumbledore at
the end of the sixth book. Snape himself dies at the hands of Voldemort in the final chapters of the seventh book, revealing his memories and true back

Honorable Character Essay

  • 1. Honorable Character Essay I firmly believe that one needs to be of honorable character to be a great leader, but to have honorable character one must develop it over time. Living next door to my grandparents, I remember my mother saying, "Go help your grandfather because he is cutting the grass," or "Go help your grandmother with the groceries." Eventually it became a natural thing to do; to go over their house and help with whatever they needed. As I grew older, my parents encouraged me to be socially involved in extra–curricular activities bringing me more responsibilities. I started tutoring afterschool, read to kindergarten students during "El DГa del Nino.", helped during "Clean our beach day", filled boxes with food items and helped deliver them to church...show more content... We sat down with Texas Senator Eddie Lucio Jr. and discussed three pertinent issues affecting public schools in the Rio Grande Valley:school vouchers, accountability, and cyber bullying. Being a young Hispanic, I felt it was my civic duty to take part in the student caucus. I am also a Harlingen Heroes 4–Health Ambassador; a group of teens that conduct presentations and activities to students on the importance of maintaining healthy lifestyles. I am involved with the Harlingen Smokebusters; a group that talks to students on the dangers of tobacco and smoking. From our efforts, we were instrumental in making the city of Harlingen become smoke–free. John Quincy Adams once stated, "If your actions inspire others to dream more, learn more, do more, and become more, you are a leader." Throughout the years I have personally met students from different backgrounds and have bonded with teachers, community members and business owners. They know that I am a person with integrity, strong work ethics, trusting, responsible, and committed to my academics and my community. I believe these are the traits that make a leader and describes a person of honorable Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 2. The Kite Runner: Character Analysis. Essay TMuhammad A. Khan English (A). Period (5). The Kite Runner Character Analysis. 1) Amir: Born in Kabul, Afghanistan, Amir was the son of a wealthy social worker. He was brought up with the son of his servant, and perhaps his only best friend, Hassan. Amir had a rocky relation with his father. At times, it seemed as his father loved him but those moments didn't lasted forever. He thinks Baba (his father) wishes Amir were more like him, and that Baba holds him responsible for killing his mother, who died during his birth. Despite being best friends, Amir thinks that Hassan is beneath him because he belonged to an inferior cast. He used to mock him jokingly or tried to outsmart him. In all fairness, it was Amir's cowardly nature that...show more content... Here, the narrator, Amir refers this to the first smile of Sohrab, Hassan's blood. It gave him a sense of satisfaction as if Hassan and Baba have forgiven him from the crimes of his childhood. 2) Hassan: The illegitimate son of Baba and Amir's half–brother (which he didn't knew until after Hassan's death), Hassan was a truly good and beautiful person even though he's had his fair share of hard times. In my opinion, Hassan has it tougher than Amir from the beginning. Not only did Hassan lose his mother (like Amir), his mother flat–out rejected him But Hassan, unlike Amir, is a selfless and joy–filled creature. They spent most their childhood together playing games, reading books and flying kites until that fateful day where he was deprived of his pride. Hassan had a very good relation with Baba as it would later prove out to be his father as well. After the war stricken years, Rahim Khan asked him to come back to the house in Kabul and agrees after thinking about it. He felt that he was near Amir by living in that house and that he's loyal. His loyalty and integrity are the essence of his character. He and his wife were slaughtered by the Talibans in the earlier part of 2000, thus ending the life on an inspiring individual. Quotes: " For you, a thousand times over". This one sentence sums up the immense love, loyalty and friendship Hassan had for Amir. 3) Baba: Rahim Khan gives Baba his "famous nickname, 'Mr. Hurricane' .At times Baba seems Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 3. My Character Essay My character has both opened and closed many doors for me in life. Most of the time you will see that I'm very laid back and relaxed. Independence is one of my key qualities. I never like to bother people with my problems because ultimately they're not always going to be there for you. I roam around in silence; being loud and obnoxious is not something that has ever given me much success in life. I try to conquer a healthy and happy lifestyle, but you know how that usually goes. I am pretty athletic I believe because I have put in so much hard work and dedicated even more time to football throughout my eighteen years of life. My life experiences have given me a rebellious trait. For example, whenever I get yelled at in football by Coach...show more content... I didn't have a great childhood, mainly growing up around drugs, gangs, and gunshots every night, but when I got older my friends were the ones who saved me from all that madness by taking me into their arms and drifting me away from the wrong crowds. Now, I go back and see them and they're those people I thought they would never be. Drugs run far in the public schools of Massachusetts now that I realize it, a lot of my friends are now heavy drug addicts. When you think of drugs in high school, you think of the basic marijuana, but that's not the case. They are doing the real deal, which are heroin and cocaine. They've been sucked into a dark abyss where I can't save them, not because I don't know how, which I do know, but because I'm so far away that what I say over text or social media to them won't ever be enough to try to change their mind. I just wish that one day they realize what wrong they are doing and seek help, come back to the reality of life instead of trying to escape through the imagination world drugs take you to. I guess the only good outcome from all this is the lessons I learn from my family and friends. Seeing their wrong doings have given me a good sense of what to do in life and what not to do, and that Get more content on HelpWriting.net

George Washington's Character Essay Muhammed Demir Hist 1301 03/06/2018 Jenine DeFelices Fastuca Revolutionary Characters Essay Question AnswersDr.Wood implies that it was very little is actually known about Washington's early days "An aspect of Washington's character that is not as widely known is the fact that, when he freed his slaves in his will, he also provided for their care" Dr. Wood said. It explains,George Washingtonlife doesn't know much that. He was an incredible man who isn't straightforward. He turned out to be rapidly, as has regularly been called attention to, more a landmark than a man, statuesque and invulnerable. Indeed, even his counterparts understood that he was not a common available individual. He was exalted in his own particular lifetime. He was "a legend of an uncommon kind." While president he irritated numerous Americans and lost the help of numerous previous partners. However, by keeping America unbiased in the war amongst France and England, in supporting an arrangement of open back, and in looking to open the western wilderness to settlement, he prevailing with regards to protecting and extending the new country. • 5. Essay on Qualities That Build Strong Character Does your character have what it takes? Sam Haskell states in his book, Promises I Made My Mother, "When you take away everything, when you strip a person of the superficial add–ons, all they have left is their true self"(14). This quote stood out to me because in the world today we base everything we have on physical appearance or by how many material things we can collect. In college we will get to experience many new things and our character will be tested, I plan to work hard to uphold my morals and stay true to myself. Sam also says that "Character is the core of our being" (14); it is what really holds us together and what we should strive to be true to. To me, the qualities that make a strong character are honesty, hard work, and...show more content... I believe honesty is the best thing to build a friendship on. The second quality that makes a strong character is hard work. By working hard through the next few years I hope to achieve my goal of becoming a pharmacist. Hard work always has its rewards later down the road; they may not come instantly but take time to build up this past year without any kind of warning my dad lost his job in January. After he lost his job, I took on more responsibilities to help out as much as I could. I worked to try to take some stress off my dad by working in the yard so that he would not have to, I cut back on going out on the weekends with my friends, and working hard in school to make sure my grades were really good. I also had to work hard to have patience with God to answer my prayer that my dad would find another job. Finally, almost a year later in December, God answered my prayer. My dad found out he got the job he interviewed for on Christmas day. That was that best Christmas present I could have asked for. I was rewarded in that I knew my dad's burden had been lifted. Not long ago, my cousin said to me, "College is going to be tough, but if you think about how long your life is your college years will fly by. What you do in college will define what is going to happen in the rest of your life." Right then I decided that I was going to give it my all and work hard to get the best grades possible. • 6. How Is Emma A Dynamic Character Characters in Emma are very realistic; they are round and dynamic in the sense that they have complicated interpersonal relationship and go through complex emotions and thoughts. Characters are not always believable because they are often too deeply attached to the Victorian manners, which makes them cover up their true emotions and thoughts with polite actions and flattery words. One interesting point about the characters is the way they first appear in the novel. According to Language and Character in Jane Austen'sEmma, the characters are introduced to the novel in a very systematic way: "first they appear in narrative passages, their mode of expression is than imitated in free indirect speech, after which they are introduced dramatically,...show more content... Emma Woodhouse, the protagonist of the novel, continuously builds and breaks interpersonal relationship in Highbury, going through emotional changes and experiencing growth in mental maturity in doing so. There is no antagonist in the novel. Instead, there are minor characters, including George Knightley, Frank Churchill, Harriet Smith, Jane Fairfax, and the Eltons, who incessantly communicate with Emma. They act as foils to Emma and lead the plot toward the ending with all characters with best–suited spouses (Austen; Lemos). To describe major characters in detail, Emma Woodhouse is a 20–year old girl and is the youngest daughter of Mr. Woodhouse, the owner of Hartfield. She is beautiful, well–educated, but haughty. Her arrogant attitude is revealed in her thoughts about the Coles in chapter 25: [The Coles] were of low origin, in trade, and only moderately genteel ... but the last year or two had brought them a considerable increase of means–the house in town had yielded greater profits ... The Coles were very respectable in their way, but they ought to be taught that it was not for them to arrange the terms on which the superior families would visit them. This lesson, she [Emma] very much feared, they would receive only from herself. (Austen Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 7. The Importance Of Character According to Merriam–Webster, character is "The group of qualities that make a person, group, or thing different from others." Character is the way a person reasons, feels, and acts. It is a state of being and not doing. The choices and decisions that are made when no one is watching typically exemplifies the real you. Most of us tend to make better decisions when others are watching to protect our reputations. For some reason, we want people to think of us in a certain manner; therefore, we behave the way others think we should. I personally know people that act a certain way when others are watching, but behind closed doors they are a completely different person. This is hypocritical behavior. A hypocrite is a person that says one thing and does another. Often times, their words are not consistent with their actions and deeds. A person of integrity will be who they are regardless of where they are and who they are with. They will not change. If you want to test a person's character, just observe how they treat the people whom they have authority or advantage over. Malcolm Forbes, publisher of Forbes magazine, states, "You can easily judge the character of a man by how he treats those who can do nothing for him." Character is one of the most important things we possess. A person's nature and temperament will sustain them and determine the course of their lives. The condition of our hearts can be perceived by our actions, attitudes, reactions, and responses; Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 8. The Importance of Good Character Essay Why is character important? Why is it important to be a person of good morals, ethics, and character? Can that make you more productive in life, family, school, business, work, etc. ? Well, good moral, ethics, and character has NEVER hurt anyone. President Abraham Lincoln once said, "Reputation is the shadow. Character is the tree." To many, this quote means that Character is like a tree which bears the shadow of their reputation whether it be good or bad. "I have no regrets in my life. I think that everything happens to you for a reason. The hard times that you go through build character, making you a much stronger person." – Rita Moreno As seen in these quotes, character is important, and it determines your reputation in ...show more content... Good character/characteristics also show leadership and value. Not only to the people around you, but to the marketplace (where you work). Let's put this into perspective. IF..... you were the employer or manager of a company: the person in charge of hiring and firing, which person would you hire? Person 1 or Person 2 ? Person 1: Well, I went to this school, and I have this degree, and I know that when you hire me I'll make the MOST for this company. You have never seen anyone like me. You should be glad that I'm even here in your office today. So... are you gonna take me, or leave me? Person 2: Well Mr./Mrs. _________, I'm so honored to be here today. I'm grateful that you took the time to interview me. I might not have all the credentials for this position with your company, but I am willing to learn whatever you teach me. If you teach me, I'll do my very best at my job, and will work at doing it to the best of my ability. Now that your thinking about these two different people (that your considering to hire) which one would you choose? Person 1 or Person 2 ? Well, the majority of us would choose Person 2. Why?? Because Person 2 shows that they are humble, teachable, and grateful. We wouldn't hire Person 1 because they appeared as arrogant, "stuck–up", and maybe even pushy. My point is simply this. Not just your mannerism, but your character can be seen through how you speak, carry yourself, Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 9. Character Archetypes In Dan Brown's The Da Vinci Code, the repeating character archetype seen is the rich villain. This archetype is seen in Leigh Teabing, the main antagonist in the novel. This archetype influences the way people see wealthy people in society. It influences the average middle class person into thinking that money will corrupt them, that those with money are not trustworthy and sexist. The character archetype, the rich villain, influences people into thinking that money corrupts those who come across it. In Kristy Maddux's article, "he da Vinci Code and the Regressive Gender Politics of Celebrating Women", she states, "Once in London, however, their coalition crumbles when Teabing is revealed to be the mastermind behind the operation" (Maddux,...show more content... In the article "The da Vinci Code and the Regressive Gender Politics of Celebrating Women", Kristy states, ". Ultimately, Teabing is arrested, and Neveu and Langdon are left to unravel Sauniere's trail"(Maddux, 3). This quote states that Leigh Teabing gets arrested which proves that he is the villain. At first, Robert Langdon and Sophie trusted Leigh Teabing but he turned out to be a liar. The other antagonists in this novel who also betray the people around them are rich. This causes people to believe that those who are rich are not trustworthy. Also, the two characters in the story who are trustworthy, Robert Langdon and Sophie Neveu, are not shown to have a significant amount of wealth. This just amplifies the influence that the rich villain archetype has on people. The novel portrays those who are rich as untrustworthy and betrayers, and portrays those who are not rich as trustworthy. Another example of the rich villain who influences people into believing that those with money are not trustworthy is Donald Trump. A creative video piece made my John Oliver called "Last Week Tonight With John Oliver: Donald Trump", explains how untrustworthy Donald Trump really is. In the piece, John Oliver says, "The website politifacts checks 77 of his statements and rated 76 percent of them as varying degrees of false" (Oliver, 2:30). This quote explains how more than three quarters of Donald Trump's statements are lies. This also influences people into thinking that those with money are not trustworthy because he is always talking about how rich he is and he is beginning to cause people to create connections between his wealth and his lying habits. He tells people he is rich and he lies so often that people have began to correlate those two traits with each other. That is how the archetype of the rich villain is influencing people into thinking that those who Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 10. What Is The Shaping Of My Character In my first essay "The Shaping of My Character" it was a narrative so, it was easier to write this because it was all about my experiences. I wrote it on the Golden Rule and how just witnessing cruelty let me know, that wasn't how I wanted to be. The rule facilitated the women I am today. The essay made me think about a friend I haven't thought about in years. Annie's situation helped me follow the rule "treat others how you want to be treated." Looking back at the essay I could have elaborated on some parts. Development is a fault of mine; I will keep working on that. My topic sentence could've been better. In my second essay "Excessive Force the Ugly Truth," I focused on the term excessive force. I was able to recreate a formal definition Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 11. Character, Morals, Integrity Essay Character, Morals, Integrity Morals, character, integrity, what do these words mean....actually, the question is, do you have them. A man named Dwight Moody once said, "Character is what you are in the dark." You cannot see your morals, character, or integrity, these are only shown as your values. Someone could only show their own values, which are very important to themselves and everyone else. Integrity is the firm adherence to a code of especially moral or artistic values. The way you show your integrity, character, and morals or how they are effect you in either a negative or positive way. There are many causes to how your values are. So as you know, integrity is very important and it is important to have it. First of...show more content... Laura stated, "integrity effects you by either being honest or not. If you are honest, then you have integrity. People who say that they are going to do something do it." You can now see that character, morals, and integrity are very important. Secondly, people may think that their values may not affect them, but they're wrong, they affect them a lot. Since character describes how you are and what your moral strengths are, having bad character could make people dislike you because of how you are. On the other hand, if you have good character, then more people would see how good of a person you are and even more people would like you. Morals sort of describe the way you make decisions, so having bad morals could guide your life down the drain, while having good morals could guide your life minute by minute toward noble goals. Integrity is also very important. Having bad integrity could make you very non–trustworthy to others. Having good integrity would make you very trustworthy to others. Knowing how important they are, you should always have good or even better character, morals, and integrity. Also, there are many causes for how your character, morals, and integrity are. One cause could of course be yourself. By hanging out with the right people and making good decisions, you could have good values. Yet hanging out with the wrong people and making bad decisions would be having bad values. Another cause may Get more content on HelpWriting.net

  • 13. Character Reflection Generally, literature imitates life; the authors write about the tragic consequences of covetous lifestyles to provoke readers. Consequently, after being inspired from these works, readers become enraged and demand a moral change in their lives. Of course, these realizations are built on the belief that their lives are filled with too much selfishness so they must become gratified. However, these moral transformations occur and are unsuccessful because people do not change. While I emphasize this belief of mine, I must point out: one's moral beliefs, their character, their principles, their truths, all do not change. Moreover, people's lifestyles, appearance, thoughts, and behaviors do transform as they grow. Once faced with idolization, one will learn of other's true and immutable character. What one owns, how they spend their time, and who they associate themselves with, shows one's indisputable nature. Regardless if an opulent possession was being earned or given, the novelty will reveal one's true and unchanging character. While I was participating in a ski race as a young teen, I came off the pitch, accelerated through the flats, and came through the last gate to the finish. The run was perfect; except I went around the wrong side of the end gate. Because of the high level of competition at this particular race, I would have thought someone would have caught this fortuity; but no spectator contradicted my performance. • 14. Character is Fate – Essay "A man's character is his fate" once said the Greek philosopher Heraclites. By this he meant that our personalities and actions shape the outcomes of our lives and therefore our destiny. This statement opposes the traditional view that man's fate is determined by an external force (name it god or even chance). This argument is basically one of faith: do you believe we shape our own futures by how we act, or are our lives programmed in a certain unchangeable way? In other words, do you believe in an omnipotent being that has our lives or at least our futures predetermined? As we shall see, a man's character defines his life (as his behaviour, emotions and actions determine his daily life), but I believe that our...show more content... I believe that this is a matter of chance (the fact that a good person might get in the way of a bad one and therefore have a terrible outcome which his /her character doesn't reflect) and even tough we might have a certain personality that should lead us to a consequent destiny, unexpected and random variables get in the way and might change the course of our fates. Definitely our character will have an important role to play in determining the outcomes of our lives, but from this idea we can draw the idea that although character controls our life, we can't control our fates: our fates are predestined. We can call these omnipotent force God, devil, providence or chance, but the fact is that our fate has already been planned for us and even if we could change our character (making us believe that we are changing our fate), we are only changing direction into a fate we think is new, but in reality is the fate that was always predestined for us. Furthermore, character is not the only factor in determining our lives. We must consider external factors such as the environment, nature and fortune. For example, in the novel 'The Mayor of Casterbridge' by Thomas Hardy, the main character, Mr. Henchard organizes a fair for the townspeople in order to show the people that despite what he appears to be, he is really kind and humane. Everything turns out wrong for him because heavy rain ruins the event (Nature intervenes) and Get more content on HelpWriting.net

With these two definitions it becomes easy to apply them to human context. In the first definition it defines character as something that distinguishes an individual. Many things can distinguish you from someone else, this can include but not be limited to, work ethic, grades, respect, responsibility, and honesty. All these things are also life skills, things that will help you in the future. And you can learn them at any time. But if the opposite is applied the opposite will happen. Doors will open, opportunities will be made, and people will respect you. All this can happen, but it is up to you what will happen. Will you have people respect you, will you create opportunities, or will you have people ignore you, and reject you. This may sound like an easy decision to make, but for many people who don't have the drive to put forth the effort it becomes too strenuous for Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 16. Essay On Character Traits There are many character traits that make someone successful in life. Some traits you are born with, other traits are mindsets. There are a few character traits that coaches, teachers, bosses, or any other significant figure looks for in particular. One of the most important character traits is a hard–working attitude. You aren't born with a hard–working attitude. It is a mindset. You may not be the best employee, but an employer will be more willing to work with someone that works hard than someone that can do the job but is lazy. The biggest lesson that my father taught me was in seventh grade. It was a normal day of basketball practice and we were scrimmaging. During a particular play, I ran the wrong route. He made me run around the gym for forgetting what to do. I decided that I was too tired to sprint around the gym. Because of my decision, he chose to kick me out of practice. I knew at that point that I could take no breaks. While I was taking breaks, other people were getting better. Chances to improve were very slim, so I needed to take advantage of them whenever possible. Although this was a very inconvenient way for me to learn this lesson, he definitely got his point across and I now work hard every chance that I get. Everyone wants to have a successful career. The first step to a successful career is to obtain the job that you want. Obviously you need the education level for this occupation, but what else is going to give you a leg up on the competition? As a Sophomore in high school, I had the opportunity to job shadow a manager of engineers at an engineering firm. One of his responsibilities was going through the hiring process. As a prospective future employee, I was curious as to what he looked for most in an employee. He did not say education. He did not say experience. • 17. Does Character Matter Does character matter? Why or why not? Having character in any field where you work with other, matter a lot. In education, character is very important. Just as McEwan states "Character, or lack of it, is a hot topic in schools today, Educators are desperate to create more humane and caring schools–not only as an antidote to prejudice and violence from within but also to the hatred and terrorism without. Character–building programs are more the rule than the exception, and many states now mandate them" (McEwan, 2003). Character helps a lot when it comes to educating our students. But before we can teach students about character traits, we need to make sure school staff members have character. • 19. Severus Snape : Fictional Character Essay Severus Snape is a fictional character in J.K. Rowling's Harry Potter series. He is characterised as a person of great complexity, whose coldly sarcastic and controlled exterior conceals deep emotions and anguish. In the first novel of the series, Snape is a teacher who is hostile from the start toward Harry. As the series progresses, Snape 's character becomes more layered and enigmatic. Rowling does not fully reveal the details of his true loyalties until the end of the final book, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. Over the course of the series, Snape 's portrayal evolves from that of a malicious and partisan teacher to that of a pivotal character of considerable intricacy and moral ambiguity. In the series, Snape is an exceptionally skilful wizard who primarily teaches Potions at Hogwarts School. In the sixth novel, he teaches Defence Against the Dark Arts, a position which he was known to have desired throughout the series. For much of the series, Snape 's actions seem to serve Harry Potter 's nemesis, Lord Voldemort, although Harry 's mentor, Dumbledore, often advises Harry that– despite his actions and animosity – Snape is trustworthy and his true loyalties can be relied upon. He ultimately becomes Headmaster of Hogwarts in the final novel, after killing Dumbledore at the end of the sixth book. Snape himself dies at the hands of Voldemort in the final chapters of the seventh book, revealing his memories and true back story to Harry in his last minutes.
