Hominid PowerPointBy Arsalan S
IntroductionThis PowerPoint is going to explain how Hominids style and appearance changed over time.
AustropithecusAfarensisAustropithecusAfarensis is the first Hominid to live, so we wouldn't expect it to use much technology or wear clothes, although its physical appearance is a lot different than modern humans.Picture By flowcomm
Homo HabilisThe Homo Habilis has more common knowledge than the AustropithecusAfarensis. Homo Habilis did not make clothes so it would be harder to live in colder climates. They had a longer and flatter head, their brain would be 2/3 of the size of modern humans. There average height is about 1.5m tall, but they walked in a stooped position.
Homo ErectusFun Fact: The Homo Erectus was the first to be able to stand and walk upright this made it easier for them to see preys from a far distance so they can prepare for an attack. The Homo Erectus had more of an oval or circular face with almost no chin.Sleek and tall structure, 1.5m tall.Photo By Pamela Kemmerling
Homo Sapiens NeandretalensisHomo Sapiens started to make clothing out of animal hides, they would first have to scrape the fat from the hides, then let it dry and sew them together by punching holes in the hides and stringing themtogether with lacing strips of skin. These Neanderthal's are about 10 cm taller than Homo Erectus so 1.6m tall on average.Fun Fact: the Neandertalensis were the first ones to prepare a burial for their dead.
Homo SapiensHomo Sapiens are the second last evolution of mankind so far.Homo Sapiens tend to be taller and have a larger Cranium, but not as big as modern day humans.Photo By woodleywonderworks
Homo Sapiens SapiensHomo Sapiens Sapiens are modern day humans so we are by far the most technologically advanced Hominid species. Our brain was becoming more round and our foreheads steeper.Eyebrow ridges are much smaller, and the chin is much more prominent or noticeable. There has been lots of changes in the clothing we wear overtime, but now we wear clothing made of more complex materials, and there is a longer process of manufacturing because of the different styles and colour.
ConclusionOverall you can easily see that the evolution of mankind is very interesting but complex.
