The author's homesteading goals were to be self-reliant by producing a large portion of their own vegetables, meat, eggs, honey and milk through integrated farm work. They created systems to fully utilize their homestead's resources to maximize yields. When starting, the author chose manageable goals using existing resources like chickens and pigs while planning to add a greenhouse and barn over time. Challenges included long winters and wildlife while opportunities included family help and selling products.
