A PROBLEM THAT PLAGUES OUR WORLD
HOMELESSNESS
BY: FLORA SHARON
WHAT IS HOMELESSNESS?
Homelessness is the
condition and social
category of people who lack
housing, because they
cannot afford, or are
otherwise unable to
maintain, a regular, safe,
and adequate shelter.
WHY DO PEOPLE BECOME HOMELESS?
Many factors can contribute
to a person becoming
homeless. These factors
include poverty, lack of
affordable housing, job loss,
lack of health care, mental
illness, substance abuse,
and domestic violence.
STEREO TYPES OF THE HOMELESS
Most of society assumes
that homelessness is made
up of alcoholics and drug
addicts who are dangerous,
uneducated, and lazy. Also,
society stereotypes the
homeless belonging to one
particular race or religion.
WHO THE HOMELESS REALLY ARE
The homeless are
people who have
lost their job or
people who live in
bad circumstances.
Unlike modern
stereotypes, most if
not all of the
homeless do not
choose to be how
they are.
WHY WE NEED TO STOP HOMELESSNESS
Homelessness is
dangerous; it
exposes homeless
people to increased
health risks,
violence and
criminal activity.
HOW TO STOP HOMELESSNESS
We can put and end to
homelessness by
donating food, money,
clothing, and necessities
such as tooth brushes,
soap, and other hygienic
products.
