This document describes a home energy management system prototype that monitors and controls residential energy use. The goals are to prototype a lab-scale system, implement an intelligent scheduling algorithm, and design a user-friendly web interface. The team leads are Cliff Huang, Timothy Kwan, Kevin Sison, and Vinh Trinh. The system uses XBee communication between devices, a Java application for scheduling and the web interface, and sensors and relays to monitor and control devices. The total estimated cost is $398. Results will include managing multiple devices, creating efficient schedules, and viewing power use from mobile devices.
