1. Gender roles have clearly been swapped around in this photo, the
stereotype of men having the dominating power seems to be misplaced in
this image and in fact 2 females are in complete power and strength of
women – the fierce fearless facial expression the two females pull signifies
how in control they believe they both are conveying no fear in their eyes.
The positioning in which
they have the man in also
displaying an increasing
amount of power. They
have him held on the floor,
one arm ensuring he is
pushed down while the
other high in air ready to
attack. Both females
suggest that they are
going in hard on him which
makes the photo so much
more interesting as he
holds himself with both
arms for protecting
displaying he is the
weaker character.
The location of a pub in the background is ironic as men
are normally suggested to be the dominate characters
who go to pub and drink however in this situation the
typical man at a pub is on the floor being attacked by two
females who are stereotypical to stay in at home while
their male partner goes to the pub
The hair and make
up/fashion both girls
present to the audience
would suggest they are
girly girls, with a full face
of make up with cute hair
styles doesn't match with
the demand character they
are presenting of beating
a man up. This creates a
drama for the audience
and gets them engaged
with the topic going on in
the photo as you question
to yourself why are they
doing what they're doing
and what has happened?
The ‘cranted angle’ photo
suggests imbalance, transition
and instability – these types of
shots are usually found in horror
films which is ironic as its being
used in this type of clip.
