By Myles Williams discusses representations of gender, ethnicity, and age in their thriller "Lovers Spark". For gender, the female protagonist initially seems vulnerable but is later shown to be powerful by knocking someone out and stabbing the hero. Ethnic minorities are initially seen negatively through a black killer but are later revealed to be the hero. Young people are given a mixed representation, first seen as a hooded killer but later as antagonists, providing a more positive perception of youth.

2. Gender
In my Thriller, Lovers Spark, men and women were
represented quite differently in some cases. The girl in
my Thriller seemed to be like any other innocent girl
and with the added affect of her falling asleep made
her look much more vulnerable. But, this conception of
her was quickly changed when we see her knocking
someone out with a frying pan and then the being the
one who stabs the unsuspected hero at the end. This
gives females a very powerful masculine look since
usually it is the man who has the role in which the girl
has.

3. Ethnic Minorities
Ethnic minorities are almost given a negative look at
the start of the Thriller since an black man was
perceived as a ferocious killer ready to kill an
unsuspecting couple. But, this view was quickly
changed when the audience finds out that the hooded,
ethnic minority was actually the supposing hero of
this Thriller.

4. Age
Young people are given a mixed representation
throughout Lovers’ Spark. At the start, a young person
is hooded up and is seen with a knife, this instantly
makes the audience think he is a motiveless killer. Then
all of a sudden the tables are turned when the young
couple really were the antagonists. This gives young
people in hoods a quite positive perception from their
common “up to no good” representation.
