Supply Chain Visibility: Parts Town - An O2C Journey from Manual Processing t...Aggregage
Esker started as a software vendor in 1985 to help businesses deliver paper documents electronically. Parts Town, a wholesale distributor of commercial cooking equipment parts, was receiving over 2,000 customer orders daily through faxes and emails which were then manually entered into their ERP system. This led to high error rates, limited visibility, and employees often working late. Parts Town implemented Esker's order processing automation solution to digitally capture and route orders, validate data, archive orders, and integrate with their ERP. This allowed them to eliminate manual tasks, improve workflow efficiency and reduce errors while scaling up to handle growing order volumes without adding staff. The automation provided enhanced visibility and oversight of orders across the organization.

This document provides an overview of a hydrometry course covering measurement of various components of the hydrological cycle including precipitation, evaporation, soil moisture, and streamflow. It discusses different types of instruments used to measure these variables such as raingauges, evaporation pans, neutron probes, tensiometers, and current meters. Measurement methods include manual observation as well as automated data recording using devices like data loggers. The goal is to introduce concepts and terminology for quantifying water in the hydrological cycle.
Data acquisition systems sample real-world data and convert it to digital form using transducers and sensors. They were first developed in the 1960s and have become essential for automatically collecting, processing, analyzing and displaying measured data. A data acquisition system consists of sensors, signal conditioning components, data acquisition hardware and computer software. Data loggers are electronic devices that record data over time from internal or external instruments and sensors. They are small, portable devices equipped with microprocessors that are useful for long-term monitoring and measurement applications across various industries.
The document describes an experiment conducted to measure relative humidity and temperature inside a plastic bag containing a plant over the course of an hour, recording measurements every minute. The results show that temperature inside the bag increased over time while relative humidity decreased. The document also poses several discussion questions about the relationship between humidity, temperature, and the plant's transpiration rate based on the experimental findings.

Removing Uninteresting Bytes in Software FuzzingAftab Hussain
Imagine a world where software fuzzing, the process of mutating bytes in test seeds to uncover hidden and erroneous program behaviors, becomes faster and more effective. A lot depends on the initial seeds, which can significantly dictate the trajectory of a fuzzing campaign, particularly in terms of how long it takes to uncover interesting behaviour in your code. We introduce DIAR, a technique designed to speedup fuzzing campaigns by pinpointing and eliminating those uninteresting bytes in the seeds. Picture this: instead of wasting valuable resources on meaningless mutations in large, bloated seeds, DIAR removes the unnecessary bytes, streamlining the entire process.
In this work, we equipped AFL, a popular fuzzer, with DIAR and examined two critical Linux libraries -- Libxml's xmllint, a tool for parsing xml documents, and Binutil's readelf, an essential debugging and security analysis command-line tool used to display detailed information about ELF (Executable and Linkable Format). Our preliminary results show that AFL+DIAR does not only discover new paths more quickly but also achieves higher coverage overall. This work thus showcases how starting with lean and optimized seeds can lead to faster, more comprehensive fuzzing campaigns -- and DIAR helps you find such seeds.

Observability Concepts EVERY Developer Should Know -- DeveloperWeek Europe.pdfPaige Cruz
Monitoring and observability aren’t traditionally found in software curriculums and many of us cobble this knowledge together from whatever vendor or ecosystem we were first introduced to and whatever is a part of your current company’s observability stack.
While the dev and ops silo continues to crumble….many organizations still relegate monitoring & observability as the purview of ops, infra and SRE teams. This is a mistake - achieving a highly observable system requires collaboration up and down the stack.
I, a former op, would like to extend an invitation to all application developers to join the observability party will share these foundational concepts to build on:
