2. My Students
My twelfth grade class has twenty-five
students, ten girls and fifteen boys. They are in
their final semester of their Senior year in high
school.
3. Objectives
By the end of one week and with a 90%
accuracy, my students will know the story of
The Hobbit by J.R.R. Tolkien and be able to
analyze the characters in the story. They will
achieve this and show their competency
through the use of class discussions, class
readings, watching a film, and various projects
throughout the week.
4. Day by Day
Monday - I will start the week with some
background information and a popcorn reading
activity followed by a class discussion on what
we read.
Tuesday - I will continue with popcorn reading
and class discussion after assigning the Wiki
and book cover assignments and showing them
a map of the journey.
5. Day by Day (continued)
Wednesday - Popcorn Reading and class
discussion will continue after the students turn
in their book covers. I will then assign them the
Facebook/Twitter assignment.
Thursday - After students turn in their
Facebook/Twitter assignments, I will show
them the 1977 animated Hobbit movie and then
assign Podcasts.
6. Day by Day (continued)
Friday - My students will turn in their Wikis and
Podcasts one by one while also working on
Character Analyses. Then, as a class we will
discuss the book and projects, and this will be
followed by a wrap up and handing back
graded projects.
