More Detail about Simulator Training
In Nigeria LNG (NLNG) we are using UniSim simulator developed by Honeywell. This simulator is
connected to Foxboro DCS to allow the panel operator to work on Foxboro DCS.
The simulator Training covers all parts of the plant, including:
The Integrated LNG Process Train water cool and Air cool.
Ship Loading and Boil Of Gas System (BOG), LPG Chillers, LNG/LPG Storage, Slug Catcher and Pressure
reduction, Fuel Gas distribution System, Fractionation Units.
Each training module is divided in to 6 lessons
Lesson 1: covers the Flow description of the plant.
Lesson 2: covers the control narratives, which enables the panel operator to understand the plant and
perform better.
Lesson 3: covers start-up and shutdown of the various Units of the plant.
Lesson 4: major trips like MR / PR trip, APCI trip etc. These enable the panel operators in handling trips
and quickly resume the production.
Lesson 5: miscellaneous trips like reflux pump trip and valves trips; also flow, pressure, etc, transmitter mal
function. These are the day to day problems panel operators face. This lesson is to trained them on day to
day mal function and take the step to ensure safe production
Lesson 6: emergency response action. This lesson is designed to train the operators on SGS (safe guarding
system) of plant, e.g., during a fire or gas leak. This training prepares the operators in proper isolation and
depressurization in an emergency using SGS panel.
