Marius Atilius Research Paper
AURELIUS FALCO bid Marius Atilius farewell, thanking him for his hospitality and for his help
in convincing the military authorities of Caesarea to go easy on Rubio. As it turned out, Atilius
was good friends with Centurion Civilis, hence the invitation to the dinner party. The two had
served together in the Tenth Legion years ago, Atilius attaining the respectable rank of Decurion,
serving as Chief of Horse Scouts. Upon his discharge, Atilius founded the Red Faction of Caesarea
and quickly built up a successful stable system. He also supplied the Legion with horses, on
occasion, those that were deemed unsuitable for the Circus but good enough for the Scouts. Simon

there will be no draws or ties, Falco said with a broad smile. Only one shall claim the laurel
crown of victory. Everyone laughed. Yes, Rubio, Daniel agreed. And I will win this time! You
re welcome to try, Daniel, Rubio replied, laughing, clapping the young Jew on the shoulder. But I
must warn you. You ll be racing on my turf, in front of my people. And I shall show no mercy. I
look forward to the day, Rubio. It shall be a savage contest! So, my friend, Ben Atar asked. What
did Marius Atilius have to say, hmm? Will he be able to see your fortunes rise in the Circus
Maximus? Will he help you gain favor with the Red faction of Rome? He has said so, Simon,
Falco returned, nodding. He has since sent a missive to Rome, to the faction leader of the Reds.
I should expect word by the new moon. And if it be favorable, you will journey to Rome then? I
will, Simon. But only as a guest of the Reds. Oh? Only a guest? Yes. I do not expect to be
embraced with open arms by the factions of Rome the Reds included. As you well know the

Gender Roles in Japan Essay
It is no secret that for centuries, the Japanese woman has been, to most observers, a model of
elegance and graceful beauty. A picture of a kimono clad, modest, and often silent woman has
been plastered everywhere, allowing for the upmost passive subjection. If we look deeper into this
image of woman, can we tell if this picture is complete? How do these women painted in
representative images far in the modern world? The ideal womanin Japan is expected to be both a
good wife, and a wise mother. Though these seem like reasonable expectations, there is a much
deeper meaning to them that has shown signs of being outdated. During the 1800 s and 1900 s,
women were subjected to society s vision of them, and could not break free for fear of the... Show

She is intelligent, modest, unselfish, and always thoughtful of the other members of the family.
She is particular about her manner and impresses everybody she meets with her graceful

herself to enjoy a lazy Sunday morning in bed, and the sickbed is the only place for her to
rest...Endurance and repression are her greatest ideals. She says to me, Endurance a woman should
cultivate more than anything else. If you endure well in any circumstance, you will achieve
happiness. This quote is representative of the popular stereotype of Japanese women. It defines
how they worked hard at home to please the men, and did whatever was expected of them without
complaint. A key word in this quote is endurance. It is stated that a woman who endures well in any
circumstance will achieve happiness, and what is said is true.
History reports that though there were many women in leadership positions (Queens, empresses,
etc.), they appeared to be second class citizens. It seemed as though the only relationship they were
prompted to have was with their husbands. However, they endured. They came to the realization
that if this is how life would be, this is the life they would have to get used to. Due to multiple
different influences, there are many inconsistencies when it comes to the role of women in ancient
Japan.

Social Construction Theory Of The National Football League
Recently, an increasing number of African American football players have been leaving their
respective colleges with years of eligibility left, to pursue a dream of playing in the National
Football League. This year alone, 101 athletes will be forgoing their remaining years of college
eligibility to enter the NFL draft. Thus representing a staggering increase from the 40 early entrants
in 2007 (Heitner). This decision seems deceptive, in that it appears explicitly based on utility
maximization and the traditional economic theory of Becker and Stigler. That model does provide
an adequate explanation based on set universal preferences with efficiency determining the price of
commodities. However, I believe that it is more accurately modeled as a function of a socially
constructed framework of choice. Berger and Luckmann s social construction theory presents the
opportunity to understand more fully the background of these athletes that shapes their decision
making process. In my analysis, utility maximization is embedded within this social construction
framework. Given this, not only can we understand the conventional economic reasons for this
decision, but also the socialization that shaped the individuals to that point. I will demonstrate that
the choices of these athletes can be analyzed by taking into account how each person s preferences
and efficiency is molded by their socialization. To prove the value of my approach, I examine cases
chronologically, delving into the

The Last Of The Mohicans Movie Essay
In the time of the 7 years war, is the timeframe which The last of the Mohicans was written in and
then later, made into a film based on the novel. I will be describing the plot, both the historical
accuracies and inaccuracies, the film themes, and my opinion of the acting, all on the 1992 film. I
was completely impressed with this film. Not having read the book I cannot compare the two,
however I can compare what I saw with actual events from that time and what I saw. The plot of
this film starts out in 1757, the American colonies are in the middle of the third year of the French
and Indian War. This war was comprised of English and French soldiers fighting for the possession
of the continent. It starts out with this quote in the beginning... Show more content on

It lingers too much on either the romance or the feud between Magua and Col. Munroe. All great
parts of the story, yes, however, if you were watching The Last of the Mohicanspurely for
historical purposes and to find out things about the war, you wouldn t learn much. Yes, the
movie (and the book as well I m sure), does depict for the most part of what I could tell,
everything accurately. It is the point of it not showing enough about this huge event in our
history. How did the war get started? Who won the war? What all tribes and alliances aided both
sides? There are a lot of left out details, unfortunately, which makes it hard to follow the details of
the French and Indian war. For example, the fight between Magua and his Indians against
Munroe and the English was quite a bit less violent than what is led to believe. Not to forget, we
are not shown the reaction of Montcalm in finding out his Huron Indians disobeyed him in
letting the English go safely. Also, the deepest inaccuracies I do believe come from what the
book had written and what the movie chose to tell us. Those things aside though, it is a marvelous
film. Yes, there are some inaccuracies in this film and probably even in the book, however, for a
Hollywood production, I think they outdid themselves (did amazing). It can be a little hard to

Management Of A Learning Management System ( Lms ) For The...
This paper serves as an expansion of previous analysis on use and management of a Learning
Management System (LMS) for the U.S. Army Chaplain Center and School. First, we ll
consider specific learning assets that will be implemented. Next, treatment will be given to the
modality of the assets in our courses. We ll analyze specific curriculum objectives and relate
those to specific assets. Attention will be given to the relationship between some key
stakeholders and asset management as well. Finally, we ll take a look at how these assets
enhance the goals of the course. Blackboard Learn, our LMS, supports a wide variety of media
and hypermedia to support our learning goals. Virtually all of our courses will, in some way or
another, utilize presentations, videos, lectures, and quizzes. All of these are certainly compatible.
Presentations can be helpful for those with a strong preference for visual learning. Presentations are
best utilized asynchronously so students can review them at a time of their choosing. Presentations
can also be transformed fairly easily into study guides or job aids depending on the content and how
it is presented, such as Adobe s portable document format (PDF). PDF s are a fairly ubiquitous file
format that can present visual information fairly well. There are tools for more visually stimulating
presentations as well. The Prezi presentation located at http://prezi.com/fcaete9vijuy

Being a humanitarian means she did actions to help out other people before thinking about
herself. Most of her life was fully devoted to helping the poor, the sick, the needy, and the
helpless. She grew up in the Roman Catholic Church and decided to devote her life to God at a
very early age. When she was 18 she joined the Sisters of Loreto to become a missionary in India
even though she needed work hard before hand since she needed to learn English, and the local
language where she would be moving. She taught at schools for many years in India and ended
up becoming the headmistress at a school in eastern Calcutta. She is best known for sticking up
for the rights of the sick and helpless. When She left home for india she never saw her mother,
or sister again. Her father died when she was really young, leaving her mother to take care of her
and her two siblings all by herself. Despite the challenges her family faced, her mother was one
of the greatest people to look up to as she was growing up because she had to sacrifice everything
to care for her family after a tragic incident happened and she still managed to care for others as
well. Mother Teresa followed her mother

Economic Impact Of The Clean Power Plan
This paper explores the economic impact the Clean Power Plan, as proposed by President Obama,
would have on the coal industry and on society as a whole. The plan, also known as the CPP, has a
goal of reducing carbon dioxide emissions by the year 2030. Many proponents of the coal industry
claim that the CPP would harm the United States economy with little positive impact on the
environment. The White House, other government agencies, scholarly organizations, and
organizations regarding the protection of human health and the environment dispute these claims,
stating that the CPP would actually lead to a net increase in employment, increased air quality, and
an overall healthier society, all while promoting the renewable energy sector. After analyzing the
data from both sides, it was determined in this paper that the overall benefits of the Clean Power
Plan outweigh the costs, therefore the plan should go forward as planned.
Introduction
On August 3, 2015, President Obama announced new carbon pollution standards for power plants
under the Clean Power Plan (CPP).[1] The purpose of the plan was to decrease carbon dioxide
(CO2) emissions to promote better air quality. This plan will impact not only coalfired power
plants and the coal industry, but also individuals who live around them and the greater populous.
This paper seeks to answer if such a plan should go forward and the impacts of such a plan on the
parties listed above. To answer this question, this paper will look

there key factors in an army leader s plan that lead to their defeat? Or, was the best decision made

This was a tactic in attempts to keep the enemy guessing and to cause the enemy to feel threatened
and unsafe. It was a good strategy to trick the enemy into always thinking and feeling that an
attack would happen at any given moment, something that would cause the enemy to develop
stress or become restless with less chances of obtaining a sense of peace or assuming that an
attack was not going to happen. If one was able to master the technique of deception, then it was
likely that one will increase the chances of victory. In addition, it was crucial to become aware and
analyze the enemy in order to determine if a planned and deceptive attack would work. Or, it was
better to avoid confrontation if it was determined that the enemy would be stronger. Sun Tzu took
into consideration that pacifism was also an important option which would benefit future and better

Many stories of the Arthurian legend contain some reference to Merlin, as either a wizard or a
prophet. As a magician, Merlin performed feats such as the moving of Stonehenge, the disguising of
Uther Pendragon, and the crowning of King Arthur by the use of the sword in the stone (Fletcher
25). As a prophet, Merlin told of the defeat of the Saxons, the death of Arthur, and the one who
found the Holy Grail.
Almost everyone knows the story The Sword in the Stone by T.H. White wherein Merlin
instructed Arthur in his life as king, but what most don t know is that Merlin was, in legend, the
son of a devil. An incubus came and bedded with Merlin s mother so that she would bear his
child (Ackerman 168). One story that shows the significance of this union is Geoffrey of
Monmouth s Historia regum Britannae. In this book there is a section that tells the tale of
Vortigern and Ambrosius. Vortigern, the King of Britain at the time, wants to build a new retreat,
but every night the foundation is destroyed. Vortigern s wise men tell him he must sprinkle the
spot with the blood of a child born fatherless. After a long and tedious search, Ambrosius is found

The Author To Her Book Ap Prompt
Anne Bradstreet in her poem, The Author to Her Book , elaborates on the true struggles of the
publishing process that writers may experience in their writing careers. Through a unique
perspective, Bradstreet introduces the narrator of the poem as a writer with a deformed piece of
work, which is compared to a motherwith a child with deformities; both of which are exposed to
the public eye. Though the use of an extended metaphor, Bradstreet in The Author to Her Book
compares a defected piece of work to similarly, a child that has defects as well, which is used to
convey the speaker s self critical, yet, loving attitude toward her work.
Bradstreet begins her poem by revealing the self critical perspective of the narrator. The narrator ...

Additionally, she reveals through this comparison, that her blushing was not small, meaning that
she is thoroughly embarrassed by her work. Her work is a product of her. However, given the
circumstances of the public viewing it without the prior consent of her, she may not be too proud
of her work. This can compare to a mother that gave birth to a child with defects, the mother may
be very hesitant or even embarrassed to show the world her product. Since she focuses on the
many mistakes and errors contained in the novel, it reveals that she is, again, very self critical.
However, a shift occurs in the middle of the poem, which reveals the narrator s more loving and
affectionate side. Through the use of an extended metaphor, the goal of showing both of her
feelings to her product is successful. This affectionate side to the narrator becomes apparent
when she says the following: yet being [the narrator s] own, at length affection would thy
blemishes amend, if so [the narrator] could. She accepts this child as her own. Like a mother
with a child with birth defects, the mother still loves and cares for her child. This is much like
how the speaker, even though embarrassed and very self critical of her work, still cares for her
work. The work is a product of her. Such a product, like a book or even a child, could mean so
much to her, even though it may not be completely perfect. The

Differences Of American Identity
The identity of a nation is a summation of all its citizen s. An identity cannot be determined by
political leaders, but rather is a reflection of how leaders are able to create unity within all people.
American identity reflects what it means to be American; the positive and negative, and everything
in between. Throughout the course of United Stateshistory, Americans have constantly held a
unique identity in political, social, economic, and cultural affairs. This identity however is
dramatically affected by these affairs and can be altered as time and history progress. Nowhere in
history does American identity remain stagnant; some changes are more drastic than others. One of
the most radical contrasts in American identity seen throughout history is the difference between
the nationalist, patriot identity seen among Americans upon independence from the crown in 1783;
and the controversial division seen within the nation following the Compromise of 1877. The
United States went from being a young, and hungry powerhouse, to a nation at war with itself all as
a result of national identity.
In a political sense, it is very clear as to why the nation under went such a radical change in national
identity. Following freedom from Great Britain, American s had a strong sense of motivation and
hunger to create a political system that treated its citizens fairly, unlike the crown. American s were
proud of their new national identity, and that they no longer had to identify under the

Strictly Ballroom
The 1992 film Strictly Ballroom directed by Baz Luhrmann is able to exhibit a substantial range of
film techniques to enhance and exemplify the progression of the plotline. The film s use of lighting,

Lighting within the filmis used as a mechanism to represent an ambition that lingers within Scott,

During the scene in which Barry Fife confronts Scott about his fathers past , there is an initial
close up of Scott as he finds out about his father, which shows shock and disbelief written upon
his face, and shows a sense of repression where the camera is entirely upon Scott. This mirrors
with the context of the film, as Barry is confronting Scott with a doctored truth that leaves him
confined between a choice of self happiness and the felicity of another. A crucial shot within this
scene is a one of Barry Fife at the forefront of the camera, whereas Scott is placed in the shadow
behind him. This embodies not only a sense of entombment that Scott must face with powers
beyond his control but also depicts Barry Fife s selfishness due to his manipulative ways that
casts others in the background, and leaves them trailing in his wake. As Scott and Fran dance their
own steps at the Pan Pacific championships, the camera techniques used within the scene are able
to show the liberation felt by Scott as he dances his own steps. The scene starts off in slow motion
as Scott slides in, and the focus is placed upon him which represents a moment of opportunity that
allows Scott to shine through the voice of his steps. As Scott and Fran dance, the background is

Analysis Of Using Tribe And Tribalism By David Wiley
In Using Tribe and Tribalism : to Misunderstand African Societies, David Wiley discussed the
problems using the words tribe and tribalism to classify African societies. Wiley argued throughout
his article the problems of creating ethnic labels among African societies. Various African groups
of people are different in their culture, ideas, customs, practices, and dialect. However, many
African societies were classified and labeled as tribes rather than being understood differently. Each
African society had and has today its own unique customs and practices. These customs and
practices were seen abstract and obscure to many social scientists and scientists of the 19th century.
During this time we see the rise of evolutionary

PET Tracer Essay
The imaging world of radiology is steadily changing and developing new technology every day.
Radiology aids in the diagnosis of patients. Different departments within radiology reveal
pathologies better than others. PET/MRI (Positron Emission Tomography/Magnetic Resonance
Imaging) is a hybrid modality. This utilizes both nuclear medicine techniques and involves the
operation of a MRI scanner. This is mostly used for oncology, but can also be used for various
other exams. The study fuses the PET scan with the MRI into one superimposed image. MRI is
much better at visualizing soft tissue, which is one of the advantages it has over CT (Computed
Tomography). However, MRI does take significantly longer to scan patients due to lengthy
protocols. Discussion How it works During the MRI, the patient can expect the same experiences
they would for a PET or MRI scan separately. Although they re integrated into one machine, they
still have their own unique abilities. The exam is completed by a nuclear medicine technologist
that has been trained in MRI as well. The patient will be injected with a radioactive isotope, just as
they would for any other nuclear medicine study. The most common tracer used for PET is
fluorodeoxyglucose (Asim, 2013). This tracer will reflect the glucose... Show more content on

It is rare to find facilities that offer PET/MRI because of the financial considerations. PET/MRI
requires dual trained nuclear medicine technologists, physicists, and radiologists. Sometimes, if the

itself. Another constraint would be the number of sequences required for diagnostic imaging
studies. The protocols can be excessive. Although, with simultaneous PET/MRI, most of the time

Change In The Things They Carried By Tim O Brien
Imagine a novel or a movie that is about war that has not even one change in a character s

Superman: Dawn of Justice, the theme of change takes a huge role in the movie because by the end
of the movie Batman and Superman unite after being against each other or in George Orwell s

because in the beginning the pigs order the animals in the farm to rebel against their bad farmer

Alzheimer s Disease And Its Effects Essay
Dementia is a general term that is used to describe a disease or disorder that affects brain
functioning by a decline in metal ability that can progress enough to interfere with daily life.
There are different forms of dementia, such as Huntington s, Parkinson s, Vascular, and
Frontotemporal, but the number one type of dementia is Alzheimer s disease. According to the
Alzheimer s Association, one in nine Americans older than the age of 65 currently have been
diagnosed with Alzheimer s disease. Alzheimer s disease is an irreversible neurodegenerative
brain disorder that slowly destroys memory and thinking skills. Alzheimer s disease was first
discovered by a German physician named Alois Alzheimer in 1906. It all started in 1887, when
Alois Alzheimer graduated from Wurzburg with a degree in medicine. A year after graduation,
Alzheimer spend months helping mentally ill women in a mental asylum known as Frankfurt
Asylum and began his research on the pathological anatomy of the cerebral cortex. In 1901, Dr.
Alzheimer started to closely observe one of the patients named Auguste Deter. She was a 51 year
old women who showed strange behavioral symptoms along with short term memory loss. Auguste
s husband wanted to move her to another mental institution because he couldn t afford Frankfurt
Asylum anymore. Alois Alzheimer would help her stay in the Frankfurt as a trade to receive her
medical records and brain once she dies. Auguste Deter died on April 8, 1906 at the age of 55.

The Fact Of Blackness By Frantz Fanon
Frantz Fanon s The Fact of Blackness, a chapter from Black Skin, White Masks describes the
anxiety felt while held in the gaze of the colonizer. A reading of Judith Butler s Gender Trouble in
conjunction with Fanon s work raises questions and possible strategies on how to reject
neocolonialism and contemporary white supremacy. Fanon s idea of blackness is performative but
not for the gain of the black man, rather for the white man. Butler suggests that regaining control of
the black man s fate comes from interpellation, the act, of interrupting the white man s claims or
ideas, or rather their misconceptions of the black man. A way of disregarding the white man s
claims is a form of rejecting that normativity, similar to Butler s analysis of drag where one rejects
normativity altogether. The black man s lack of interpellation enhances the white man s
performativity furthering white supremacy; a way of rejecting neocolonialism that disregards
societal norms.
Performative utterances do not describe but perform the action they designate (Culler 96), and the
repetitive assertions from the white man placed upon the black man results in him being inferior.
The white man s performativity about Butler s idea of gender trouble, that gender, sexuality and
biological makeup are not correlated. It also refers to oppressions of genders that do not fit the
norm of society. For Butler gender acts as a strategy for survival within compulsory systems,
gender is performative with

Multi Echelon Inventory Control With Integrated Shipment...
In today s market, every company is looking for ways to cut cost and improve upon the movement
of goods from origin to final destination. Companies can achieve this with the intermodal
transportation design. Intermodal transportation eliminates the need for the company s movement
experts to locate multiple carriers in order to move their goods from warehouses to stores or even
home deliveries. By eliminating the multiple transactions with different transportation modes, the
companies can quickly cut costs. Numerous companies and retailers are now asking to have
research completed for their stores in order to see if the benefits of intermodal transportation were
truly there. More often than not, the use of intermodal transportation has been a huge success and
companies have transferred to using these methods. When it comes to needs of transportation, the
companies need first look at their inventorymanagement and see what the best fit for their
transportation needs is. This paper is a review of Multi echelon Inventory Control with Integrated
Shipment Decisions by Olof Stenius. In a three part study conducted at the division of Production
Management in the Department of Industrial Management and Logistics, at Lund University, the
researchers put together three scenarios on how inventory management helped guide decision
making on the use of intermodal transportation versus single mode transportation. The studies,

Critical Infrastructure Paper
Critical Infrastructure
DSC 3013

Abstract
America s critical infrastructure encompasses a large number of sectors such as agriculture, food,
water, public health and emergency sectors as well as providing the essential goods and services
Americans need to survive.
Critical Infrastructure
Protecting America s critical infrastructure and key assets is a formidable challenge. Our
technologically complex society creates an infinite amount of potential targets. It is pretty much
impossible to protect all of our assets all of the time.
There are thousands of critical infrastructure assets spread across the country and it is a
monumental task for the DHS to protect them. The USA patriot act defined critical infrastructure
assets ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Risk can be defined as R=f(C, V, T). R stands for the level of risk and helps to establish priority
for a critical infrastructure asset. C stands for the consequences of an attack on a particular target
in terms of general public health. V is an assessment of the vulnerability of a target. Some targets
are more easily attacked than others (Gaines and Kappeler, 2012). T stands for the likelihood that a
target will be attacked. Once security goals have been established and risk has been assessed the
next thing to do is establish security priorities. This should help planning and coordination between
agencies with the allocation of resources. A larger amount of resources will be needed for assets
with higher risk than the others. Prevention and mitigation efforts include various processes and
security approaches or a combination of measures. This process will help to provide substantial
information relative to securing critical infrastructure assets as well as implementing cost effective
security measures (Gaines and Kappeler,

The Problem And Its Background Essay
CHAPTER 1
The Problem and Its Background
Introduction
Diabetes is a systemic disease caused by a decrease in the secretion of insulin or reduced
sensitivity or responsiveness to insulin by target tissue. (Beale, et al., 2011) The incidence of
diabetes is growing rapidly in the United States and worldwide. An estimated 347 million people
around the world are afflicted with diabetes. (Whalen, et al., 2012) According to World Health
Organization (WHO), Diabetes prevalence among adults over 18 years of age has risen from
4.7% in 1980 to 8.5% in 2014. It is the major cause of blindness, kidney failure, heart attack, stroke
and limbic amputation. World Health Organization (WHO) projects that diabetes will be the 7th
leading cause of death in 2030. It is a complex and costly disease that can affect nearly every organ
in the body and result in devastating consequences. The leading cause of non traumatic lower
extremity amputations, renal failure, and blindness in working age adults, diabetes is also a major
cause of premature mortality, stroke, cardiovascular disease, peripheral vascular disease, congenital
malformations, perinatal mortality, and disability. (Cefalu, 2000) Insulintherapy and oral
hypoglycemic agents have demonstrated improvement in glycaemic control. However, Insulin
therapy has some disadvantages such as ineffectiveness following oral administration, short shelf
life, of the need for constant refrigeration, and fatal hypoglycaemia, in the event of excess dosage.

Prenatal Care and Preterm Births Essay
Prenatal Care and Preterm Births
In the last 20 years the hopes of survival for neonates have seen significant increase, almost all of
the causes of perinatal mortality and morbidity have decreased. There is only one threat unmoved,
still standing above the rest Preterm birth. Prematurity or preterm birth is defined as the birth of
any child between 20 37 weeks of gestation. Delivery prior to 20 weeks of gestation is considered
a Natural abortion.1 The survival rate of low birth weight infants has significantly increased from
15 80% in the last 20 years. However, the incidence of prematurity has not seen any change, neither
decrease nor increase. Currently the average incidence is 10 11%.1
There are noticeable sex and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The main reason that the incidence has remained static is that there has been no clear definition
of the chain of events that result in pre term birth. Without an understanding of how it happens,
there can be no way of stopping the process, and further, of stopping the process once it has
begun being that there is no way of knowing exactly at what stage it is. There has recently been a
strong theory proposed which needs to be given more attention, the prostaglandin theory. Briefly,
pro inflammatory cytokines and other immunomodulatory proteins produced by either overt or
sub clinical infection stimulate prostaglandin synthesis and release. This ultimately induces the
synthesis and release of metalloproteases, which bring on cervical ripening and membrane
weakening and rupture. 4 The increased survival rate with a static incidence means that there
are more people with problems in society, more NICU s being filled, more families are having to
learn to live with someone that is handicapped, more problems arise with health care funding as
more people have chronic health problems, and with a little creativity and a careful eye, the rest
of this paper could be a list of the problems that are arising. Some known morbidities of preterm
birth include Cerebral Palsy, ADHD, growth retardation, respiratory distress syndrom, decreased
cognitive ability, decreased academic skills, decreased visual and gross motor

When trying to expand ones business it can take a lot of time and effort to grow the company
from its core not to mention how much it will cost to accomplish this goal, but there are other
ways a business can grow much faster than normal. This faster method is broken up into two
different types mergers and acquisitions. A merger is the combining of two or more companies, this
decision is usually mutual between both firms, and it works usually by offering the stockholders of
one company securities in the acquiring company in exchange for the surrender of their stock. An
acquisition is when a company buys most, if not all, of another company s ownership stakes so that

The Effects Of Divorce On Children And Teens
Divorce is one of the most common happenings in the world experienced by children. Most
children go through different adjustments to become comfortable with the fact that their parents
are not together anymore. Children of divorced parents are prone to lifelong effects. Seventy five
to eighty percent of children have divorced parents and twenty five percent of those children have
serious social, emotional, or psychological problems for the rest of their life. Most adults think that
it is best for parents to stay together for the sake of their child because having two parents in
different households can become difficult for the child socially and academically.
Parents value obedience as a favor when the child s actions conflict with the parents rights.
Different parents have all sorts of rules for their child in different households. It becomes difficult
for the child during a divorce because now they are needed to go by different rules in different
households. Studies show that if the child is out with the wrong parent they will most likely do
drugs or bad in school. Children and teens start to make bad decisions when they re going through

Compare And Contrast Alexander III And Alexander II
In this essay I will be comparing and contrasting the different reforms implemented by both
Alexander II and Alexander III. Also looking at how it effected Russia in general
After the Crimean war Russia had suffered a devastating defeat, Alexander II decided that there
had to be change in his country in order to make Russia successful again. Alexander II was also
known as the Liberator , this was mainly due towards his reform on emancipation towards the
serfs. 40 million serfs were freed in 1861. The reason for this reform is questionable but Alexander
II was probably trying to prevent the lower classes from having a revolution.
Serfs now had the right to marry without interference and could also own land. However they did

However the economy surprisingly did still grow under him. The reasons for this might have been
because of the stocks and banks opened up by Alexander II.
Alexander II s reforms were great developments but was unfortunately not that effective. On the
other hand Alexander III reformed quite a lot of them. He was not a bad person for doing this
but it may be because he lacked confidence. To be a successful ruler, it is important to receive a
good education and Alexander III did not receive this. He loved his family very much and had to
assure his family and himself even though many saw him as incompetent as a tsar.
Alexander III in the end decided to reverse everything his father Alexander III brought to Russia.
Alexander II was probably not the most liberal man to ever live however he did bring some hope
which had never been present before he ruled. Alexander II had many successful reforms that
helped the nation grow politically and economically. After Alexander II s extremely brutal death
his son, possibly feared he would have a similar death and as a result changed everything to the

The Bolsheviks
Lawyers would say that Europe, Asia, and the United States of America are completely different.
However, from the point of view of the citizens, the similarities in their daily lives are numerous,
even if some fundamental differences remain. To begin with the most obvious similarity and
example: in the USA, as well as in parts of Europe, citizens use a single currency, identical to the
currency of their neighboring States. Just as in Europe, in the USA, several decisions remain the
responsibility of the states, such as highway code, certain taxes, social welfare, minimum wages,

It should not be unforeseen that the Bolsheviks worked hard to safeguard that any person
potentially antagonistic to them did not retain arms. The first Soviet gun controls were enacted
during the Russian Civil War, as Czarists, Western troops, and national independence movements
fought the central Red regime. Firearm registration was instituted on April 1, 1918. In October
1918, the Council of People s Commissars (the government) ordered the renunciation of all
firearms, ammunition, and sabers. As has been the case in nearly every nation where firearms
registration has been introduced, registration proved a preamble to confiscation. Excused from
the confiscation order, however, were affiliates of the Communist Party. A 1920 decree imposed
a obligatory minimum penalty of six months in prison for non Communist possession of a
firearm, even where there was no felonious intent. After the Red triumph in the Civil War, the
firearm laws were consolidated in a Criminal Code, which if broken, unauthorized possession of
a firearm would be punishable by rigid labor. A 1925 law made unauthorized possession of a
firearm punishable by three months of hard labor, plus a fine of 300 rubles (equal to about four
months wages for a highly paid construction worker). Stalin apparently found little need to
alternate the weapons control structure he had inherited. This chapter of Lethal Laws summarizes
the genocide perpetrated by Stalin from 1929 to 1953, starting with his efforts to collectivize

people were murdered, worked to death in slave labor camps, or deliberately starved to death by

October Revolution Problems
Lenin and Problems After the October Revolution
The initial difficulties faced by the new Soviet Union were to severe that its survival seemed almost
miraculous. The remains of the czarist regime left Lenin to face a country wrought with war,
devastated economically.
Russia s involvement in World War I, followed by its Civil War, wide spread famine and a change
in political and social ideology were the problems confronting Lenin after the October Revolution.
Lenin did succeed in ending both the war with Germany and the Civil War for Russia. Yet, the
economic and social aspects of the revolution can be more critically assessed.
Lenin knew the importance of ending Russian involvement in World War I.

As in the case of the World War, a simple end to the fighting did not signify an end to the
devastation that had been left as a consequence.
The economic and social problems that arose from the end of the czarist regime were dealt with by
Lenin initially unsuccessfully. War communism, a forced socialized economic policy began with
the confiscation of surplus grain.
It then extended to all other products. Abusive detachments fought peasant resistance with the
terror of the Red Army, and in 1919 when they gained control, with the Extraordinary Commission
(Cheka). What Lenin had thought would bring the triumph of communism rendered only misery
and disorder. The Kronstadt
Revolt in February, 1921 is an example of the indignation felt by those that saw the Bolshevik s
policies as too oppressive. Finally, Lenin sees that a transition period is necessary, and denounces
war communism for its impractical severity. Up until this point the disastrous economic and social
problems of the nation were not dealt with successfully.
Both World War I and the Civil War left rampant destruction in Russia s agricultural production.
Drought as well as the failure of war communism led to wide spread famine. At this point Lenin
introduced gradual economic measures that began as agricultural policies. According to British

The Influence Of John Locke On Child Development
In early centuries child development wasn t as important as it is now. Children were treated as
adults, and no one paid attention on how a child develops. As soon as a child reaches an age
where the child can take care of himself or herself, the child would start working, and acting as if
he or she was a mature person. The idea development does not being or end with children, however
centuries ago no one knew or even care about any type of human development. It was during the
seventeen and eighteen century when some philosophers and educators started arguing how
important childdevelopment was, and different ways on how a child can develop through stages.
Medieval period from six to fifteen centuries children were seen as adults, and there ... Show more

Cadogan wrote guideline on how the raise children right, and his wrote was full tips for parents
and nursing, and those guidelines were much needed during that time because children were
suffering. Plato and Aristotle were Greece philosophers who had different opinion when it comes
to child development. Plato believed children are born with knowledge well Aristotle believed
knowledge came from experiences. Plato stressed child s discipline and self control, and Aristotle
stressed child s up bringing and the child s individual need. Later philosophers John Locke and
Jean Jacques Rousseau both took on the history of child development with their different approach.
Both Locke and Rousseau wrote series of books about the steps of development that children go
through. Locke argued by that knowledge comes experience like Aristotle. Rousseau believed
society and parents should give freedom to child, and let them learn by interacting with them
physically and emotionally. Rousseau was a true believer of education like Pestalozzi; he believed
educating the children is important part of their development. Charles Darwin and Johanna
Heinrich Pestalozzi both write about child development during the eighteen century, however
Darwin s focus was mental or cognitive development well Pestalozzi focus was towards education.
Both Darwin and Pestalozzi observed their child, but they were observing different reasons.

  • 2. Marius Atilius Research Paper AURELIUS FALCO bid Marius Atilius farewell, thanking him for his hospitality and for his help in convincing the military authorities of Caesarea to go easy on Rubio. As it turned out, Atilius was good friends with Centurion Civilis, hence the invitation to the dinner party. The two had served together in the Tenth Legion years ago, Atilius attaining the respectable rank of Decurion, serving as Chief of Horse Scouts. Upon his discharge, Atilius founded the Red Faction of Caesarea and quickly built up a successful stable system. He also supplied the Legion with horses, on occasion, those that were deemed unsuitable for the Circus but good enough for the Scouts. Simon Ben Atar and his son Daniel were there to see them off, waiting at the waterfront,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... there will be no draws or ties, Falco said with a broad smile. Only one shall claim the laurel crown of victory. Everyone laughed. Yes, Rubio, Daniel agreed. And I will win this time! You re welcome to try, Daniel, Rubio replied, laughing, clapping the young Jew on the shoulder. But I must warn you. You ll be racing on my turf, in front of my people. And I shall show no mercy. I look forward to the day, Rubio. It shall be a savage contest! So, my friend, Ben Atar asked. What did Marius Atilius have to say, hmm? Will he be able to see your fortunes rise in the Circus Maximus? Will he help you gain favor with the Red faction of Rome? He has said so, Simon, Falco returned, nodding. He has since sent a missive to Rome, to the faction leader of the Reds. I should expect word by the new moon. And if it be favorable, you will journey to Rome then? I will, Simon. But only as a guest of the Reds. Oh? Only a guest? Yes. I do not expect to be embraced with open arms by the factions of Rome the Reds included. As you well know the rivalries in Rome are fierce. Underhanded would be a better ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Gender Roles in Japan Essay It is no secret that for centuries, the Japanese woman has been, to most observers, a model of elegance and graceful beauty. A picture of a kimono clad, modest, and often silent woman has been plastered everywhere, allowing for the upmost passive subjection. If we look deeper into this image of woman, can we tell if this picture is complete? How do these women painted in representative images far in the modern world? The ideal womanin Japan is expected to be both a good wife, and a wise mother. Though these seem like reasonable expectations, there is a much deeper meaning to them that has shown signs of being outdated. During the 1800 s and 1900 s, women were subjected to society s vision of them, and could not break free for fear of the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... She is intelligent, modest, unselfish, and always thoughtful of the other members of the family. She is particular about her manner and impresses everybody she meets with her graceful dignity...She rises earlier and retires later than anybody else in the family. She has never allowed herself to enjoy a lazy Sunday morning in bed, and the sickbed is the only place for her to rest...Endurance and repression are her greatest ideals. She says to me, Endurance a woman should cultivate more than anything else. If you endure well in any circumstance, you will achieve happiness. This quote is representative of the popular stereotype of Japanese women. It defines how they worked hard at home to please the men, and did whatever was expected of them without complaint. A key word in this quote is endurance. It is stated that a woman who endures well in any circumstance will achieve happiness, and what is said is true. History reports that though there were many women in leadership positions (Queens, empresses, etc.), they appeared to be second class citizens. It seemed as though the only relationship they were prompted to have was with their husbands. However, they endured. They came to the realization that if this is how life would be, this is the life they would have to get used to. Due to multiple different influences, there are many inconsistencies when it comes to the role of women in ancient Japan. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Social Construction Theory Of The National Football League Recently, an increasing number of African American football players have been leaving their respective colleges with years of eligibility left, to pursue a dream of playing in the National Football League. This year alone, 101 athletes will be forgoing their remaining years of college eligibility to enter the NFL draft. Thus representing a staggering increase from the 40 early entrants in 2007 (Heitner). This decision seems deceptive, in that it appears explicitly based on utility maximization and the traditional economic theory of Becker and Stigler. That model does provide an adequate explanation based on set universal preferences with efficiency determining the price of commodities. However, I believe that it is more accurately modeled as a function of a socially constructed framework of choice. Berger and Luckmann s social construction theory presents the opportunity to understand more fully the background of these athletes that shapes their decision making process. In my analysis, utility maximization is embedded within this social construction framework. Given this, not only can we understand the conventional economic reasons for this decision, but also the socialization that shaped the individuals to that point. I will demonstrate that the choices of these athletes can be analyzed by taking into account how each person s preferences and efficiency is molded by their socialization. To prove the value of my approach, I examine cases chronologically, delving into the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. The Last Of The Mohicans Movie Essay In the time of the 7 years war, is the timeframe which The last of the Mohicans was written in and then later, made into a film based on the novel. I will be describing the plot, both the historical accuracies and inaccuracies, the film themes, and my opinion of the acting, all on the 1992 film. I was completely impressed with this film. Not having read the book I cannot compare the two, however I can compare what I saw with actual events from that time and what I saw. The plot of this film starts out in 1757, the American colonies are in the middle of the third year of the French and Indian War. This war was comprised of English and French soldiers fighting for the possession of the continent. It starts out with this quote in the beginning... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It lingers too much on either the romance or the feud between Magua and Col. Munroe. All great parts of the story, yes, however, if you were watching The Last of the Mohicanspurely for historical purposes and to find out things about the war, you wouldn t learn much. Yes, the movie (and the book as well I m sure), does depict for the most part of what I could tell, everything accurately. It is the point of it not showing enough about this huge event in our history. How did the war get started? Who won the war? What all tribes and alliances aided both sides? There are a lot of left out details, unfortunately, which makes it hard to follow the details of the French and Indian war. For example, the fight between Magua and his Indians against Munroe and the English was quite a bit less violent than what is led to believe. Not to forget, we are not shown the reaction of Montcalm in finding out his Huron Indians disobeyed him in letting the English go safely. Also, the deepest inaccuracies I do believe come from what the book had written and what the movie chose to tell us. Those things aside though, it is a marvelous film. Yes, there are some inaccuracies in this film and probably even in the book, however, for a Hollywood production, I think they outdid themselves (did amazing). It can be a little hard to follow at times, but the film is overall ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Management Of A Learning Management System ( Lms ) For The... This paper serves as an expansion of previous analysis on use and management of a Learning Management System (LMS) for the U.S. Army Chaplain Center and School. First, we ll consider specific learning assets that will be implemented. Next, treatment will be given to the modality of the assets in our courses. We ll analyze specific curriculum objectives and relate those to specific assets. Attention will be given to the relationship between some key stakeholders and asset management as well. Finally, we ll take a look at how these assets enhance the goals of the course. Blackboard Learn, our LMS, supports a wide variety of media and hypermedia to support our learning goals. Virtually all of our courses will, in some way or another, utilize presentations, videos, lectures, and quizzes. All of these are certainly compatible. • 10. Economic Impact Of The Clean Power Plan This paper explores the economic impact the Clean Power Plan, as proposed by President Obama, would have on the coal industry and on society as a whole. The plan, also known as the CPP, has a goal of reducing carbon dioxide emissions by the year 2030. Many proponents of the coal industry claim that the CPP would harm the United States economy with little positive impact on the environment. The White House, other government agencies, scholarly organizations, and organizations regarding the protection of human health and the environment dispute these claims, stating that the CPP would actually lead to a net increase in employment, increased air quality, and an overall healthier society, all while promoting the renewable energy sector. After analyzing the data from both sides, it was determined in this paper that the overall benefits of the Clean Power Plan outweigh the costs, therefore the plan should go forward as planned. Introduction On August 3, 2015, President Obama announced new carbon pollution standards for power plants under the Clean Power Plan (CPP).[1] The purpose of the plan was to decrease carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions to promote better air quality. This plan will impact not only coalfired power plants and the coal industry, but also individuals who live around them and the greater populous. This paper seeks to answer if such a plan should go forward and the impacts of such a plan on the parties listed above. To answer this question, this paper will look ... Through a unique perspective, Bradstreet introduces the narrator of the poem as a writer with a deformed piece of work, which is compared to a motherwith a child with deformities; both of which are exposed to the public eye. Though the use of an extended metaphor, Bradstreet in The Author to Her Book compares a defected piece of work to similarly, a child that has defects as well, which is used to convey the speaker s self critical, yet, loving attitude toward her work. This can compare to a mother that gave birth to a child with defects, the mother may be very hesitant or even embarrassed to show the world her product. Since she focuses on the many mistakes and errors contained in the novel, it reveals that she is, again, very self critical. However, a shift occurs in the middle of the poem, which reveals the narrator s more loving and affectionate side. An identity cannot be determined by political leaders, but rather is a reflection of how leaders are able to create unity within all people. American identity reflects what it means to be American; the positive and negative, and everything in between. Throughout the course of United Stateshistory, Americans have constantly held a unique identity in political, social, economic, and cultural affairs. This identity however is dramatically affected by these affairs and can be altered as time and history progress. Nowhere in history does American identity remain stagnant; some changes are more drastic than others. One of the most radical contrasts in American identity seen throughout history is the difference between the nationalist, patriot identity seen among Americans upon independence from the crown in 1783; and the controversial division seen within the nation following the Compromise of 1877. The United States went from being a young, and hungry powerhouse, to a nation at war with itself all as a result of national identity. In a political sense, it is very clear as to why the nation under went such a radical change in national identity. Different departments within radiology reveal pathologies better than others. PET/MRI (Positron Emission Tomography/Magnetic Resonance Imaging) is a hybrid modality. A reading of Judith Butler s Gender Trouble in conjunction with Fanon s work raises questions and possible strategies on how to reject neocolonialism and contemporary white supremacy. Fanon s idea of blackness is performative but not for the gain of the black man, rather for the white man. Butler suggests that regaining control of the black man s fate comes from interpellation, the act, of interrupting the white man s claims or ideas, or rather their misconceptions of the black man. A way of disregarding the white man s claims is a form of rejecting that normativity, similar to Butler s analysis of drag where one rejects normativity altogether. The black man s lack of interpellation enhances the white man s performativity furthering white supremacy; a way of rejecting neocolonialism that disregards societal norms. Performative utterances do not describe but perform the action they designate (Culler 96), and the repetitive assertions from the white man placed upon the black man results in him being inferior. Intermodal transportation eliminates the need for the company s movement experts to locate multiple carriers in order to move their goods from warehouses to stores or even home deliveries. By eliminating the multiple transactions with different transportation modes, the companies can quickly cut costs. Numerous companies and retailers are now asking to have research completed for their stores in order to see if the benefits of intermodal transportation were truly there. More often than not, the use of intermodal transportation has been a huge success and companies have transferred to using these methods. When it comes to needs of transportation, the companies need first look at their inventorymanagement and see what the best fit for their transportation needs is. This paper is a review of Multi echelon Inventory Control with Integrated Shipment Decisions by Olof Stenius. In a three part study conducted at the division of Production Management in the Department of Industrial Management and Logistics, at Lund University, the researchers put together three scenarios on how inventory management helped guide decision making on the use of intermodal transportation versus single mode transportation. The studies, titled Sustainable Multi echelon Inventory Control with ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Critical Infrastructure Paper Critical Infrastructure DSC 3013 Keith Summerall September 6th, 2015 Abstract America s critical infrastructure encompasses a large number of sectors such as agriculture, food, water, public health and emergency sectors as well as providing the essential goods and services Americans need to survive. Critical Infrastructure Protecting America s critical infrastructure and key assets is a formidable challenge. Our technologically complex society creates an infinite amount of potential targets. It is pretty much impossible to protect all of our assets all of the time. There are thousands of critical infrastructure assets spread across the country and it is a monumental task for the DHS to protect them. The USA patriot act defined critical infrastructure assets ... C stands for the consequences of an attack on a particular target in terms of general public health. V is an assessment of the vulnerability of a target. Some targets are more easily attacked than others (Gaines and Kappeler, 2012). T stands for the likelihood that a target will be attacked. Once security goals have been established and risk has been assessed the next thing to do is establish security priorities. This should help planning and coordination between agencies with the allocation of resources. A larger amount of resources will be needed for assets with higher risk than the others. Prevention and mitigation efforts include various processes and security approaches or a combination of measures. This process will help to provide substantial information relative to securing critical infrastructure assets as well as implementing cost effective security measures (Gaines and Kappeler, ... The Problem And Its Background Essay CHAPTER 1 The Problem and Its Background Introduction Diabetes is a systemic disease caused by a decrease in the secretion of insulin or reduced sensitivity or responsiveness to insulin by target tissue. (Beale, et al., 2011) The incidence of diabetes is growing rapidly in the United States and worldwide. An estimated 347 million people around the world are afflicted with diabetes. (Whalen, et al., 2012) According to World Health Organization (WHO), Diabetes prevalence among adults over 18 years of age has risen from 4.7% in 1980 to 8.5% in 2014. It is the major cause of blindness, kidney failure, heart attack, stroke and limbic amputation. World Health Organization (WHO) projects that diabetes will be the 7th leading cause of death in 2030. It is a complex and costly disease that can affect nearly every organ in the body and result in devastating consequences. The leading cause of non traumatic lower extremity amputations, renal failure, and blindness in working age adults, diabetes is also a major cause of premature mortality, stroke, cardiovascular disease, peripheral vascular disease, congenital malformations, perinatal mortality, and disability. (Cefalu, 2000) Insulintherapy and oral hypoglycemic agents have demonstrated improvement in glycaemic control. However, Insulin therapy has some disadvantages such as ineffectiveness following oral administration, short shelf life, of the need for constant refrigeration, and fatal hypoglycaemia, in the event of excess dosage. ... Prenatal Care and Preterm Births Essay Prenatal Care and Preterm Births In the last 20 years the hopes of survival for neonates have seen significant increase, almost all of the causes of perinatal mortality and morbidity have decreased. There is only one threat unmoved, still standing above the rest Preterm birth. Prematurity or preterm birth is defined as the birth of any child between 20 37 weeks of gestation. Delivery prior to 20 weeks of gestation is considered a Natural abortion.1 The survival rate of low birth weight infants has significantly increased from 15 80% in the last 20 years. However, the incidence of prematurity has not seen any change, neither decrease nor increase. Currently the average incidence is 10 11%.1 There are noticeable sex and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The main reason that the incidence has remained static is that there has been no clear definition of the chain of events that result in pre term birth. Without an understanding of how it happens, there can be no way of stopping the process, and further, of stopping the process once it has begun being that there is no way of knowing exactly at what stage it is. There has recently been a strong theory proposed which needs to be given more attention, the prostaglandin theory. Briefly, pro inflammatory cytokines and other immunomodulatory proteins produced by either overt or sub clinical infection stimulate prostaglandin synthesis and release. This ultimately induces the synthesis and release of metalloproteases, which bring on cervical ripening and membrane weakening and rupture. 4 The increased survival rate with a static incidence means that there are more people with problems in society, more NICU s being filled, more families are having to learn to live with someone that is handicapped, more problems arise with health care funding as more people have chronic health problems, and with a little creativity and a careful eye, the rest of this paper could be a list of the problems that are arising. Also looking at how it effected Russia in general After the Crimean war Russia had suffered a devastating defeat, Alexander II decided that there had to be change in his country in order to make Russia successful again. Just as in Europe, in the USA, several decisions remain the responsibility of the states, such as highway code, certain taxes, social welfare, minimum wages, and certain areas of justice. It should not be unforeseen that the Bolsheviks worked hard to safeguard that any person potentially antagonistic to them did not retain arms. The first Soviet gun controls were enacted during the Russian Civil War, as Czarists, Western troops, and national independence movements fought the central Red regime. Firearm registration was instituted on April 1, 1918. In October 1918, the Council of People s Commissars (the government) ordered the renunciation of all firearms, ammunition, and sabers. As has been the case in nearly every nation where firearms registration has been introduced, registration proved a preamble to confiscation. Excused from the confiscation order, however, were affiliates of the Communist Party. A 1920 decree imposed a obligatory minimum penalty of six months in prison for non Communist possession of a firearm, even where there was no felonious intent. After the Red triumph in the Civil War, the firearm laws were consolidated in a Criminal Code, which if broken, unauthorized possession of a firearm would be punishable by rigid labor. A 1925 law made unauthorized possession of a firearm punishable by three months of hard labor, plus a fine of 300 rubles (equal to about four months wages for a highly paid construction worker). Stalin apparently found little need to alternate the weapons control structure he had inherited. This chapter of Lethal Laws summarizes the genocide perpetrated by Stalin from 1929 to 1953, starting with his efforts to collectivize farming by destroying the class of property owning farmers. As in the case of the World War, a simple end to the fighting did not signify an end to the devastation that had been left as a consequence. The economic and social problems that arose from the end of the czarist regime were dealt with by Lenin initially unsuccessfully. War communism, a forced socialized economic policy began with the confiscation of surplus grain. It then extended to all other products. Abusive detachments fought peasant resistance with the terror of the Red Army, and in 1919 when they gained control, with the Extraordinary Commission (Cheka). What Lenin had thought would bring the triumph of communism rendered only misery and disorder. The Kronstadt Revolt in February, 1921 is an example of the indignation felt by those that saw the Bolshevik s policies as too oppressive. Finally, Lenin sees that a transition period is necessary, and denounces war communism for its impractical severity. Up until this point the disastrous economic and social problems of the nation were not dealt with successfully. Both World War I and the Civil War left rampant destruction in Russia s agricultural production. Drought as well as the failure of war communism led to wide spread famine.
