Shibam o Shibām (il nome deriva dal Re Shibam ibn al-Ḥārith bin Hadhramout bin Saba Al-Asghar, discendente della famiglia della regina di Saba), città dello Yemen nel Governatorato di Hadramawt risalente al III secolo a.C., sita nel deserto Ramlat al-Sab`atayn – la “terra senza ombre” - lungo la strada che conduce alla capitale yemenita Sana’a (Ṣan‘ā’), crocevia di importanti carovaniere sulla via dell’incenso e delle spezie attraverso l’altopiano arabo meridionale, è famosa per le sue case-torri costruite in adobe (mattoni di terra-fango). Le sue case-torri che si sviluppano in altezza anche per 9 piani si innalzano fino a circa 36 metri di altezza fuori dal letto del Wadi Hadhramaut (Wādī ḥaḍramawt) e per questa ragione la città è ricordata anche come la ‘Manhattan del deserto’ - termine coniato dall’esploratrice inglese Freya Stark (1893 – 1993) che scrisse « Built by the hands of Giants / For Godlike kings of old » -.

La teoria dei colori di Johann Wolfgang von Goethe
Johann Wolfgang von Goethe (1749 - 1832), uno dei più importanti autori e poeti di tutti i tempi, definito come l’ultimo genio rinascimentale, è stato non solo un grande poeta, ma anche un pittore, uno scienziato e un pensatore a “tutto tondo”. Nel saggio Zur Farbenlehre (“Della Teoria dei Colori”) illustra la sua teoria scientifica sui colori e sulla loro percezione che, nelle sue intenzioni, doveva rappresentare un nuovo modo di intendere non solo l’ottica, ma la fisica e, più in generale, la scienza. Si tratta di uno scritto che si discosta molto dalle sue creazioni letterarie, anche se ne contiene al suo interno lo stile poetico associato a una visione scientifica, e mette in risalto la complessità del fenomeno cromatico e l’ingerenza non trascurabile che ha l’organo della vista nei confronti della percezione luminosa. Nondimeno, approfondendo l’azione sensibile e morale del colore e la sua funzione estetica e artistica, Goethe si pone in contrapposizione a una visione Newtoniana strettamente scientifica del fenomeno, ridando dignità sensibile e poetica al fenomeno. In questa breve esposizione si vuole affrontare la critica Goethiana alla teoria della luce e del colore di Newton, mettendo in luce il grido di protesta contro ciò che Goethe ritiene una insopportabile e inconcepibile tirannia della matematica e dell’ottica, riconoscendo - attraverso una visione puramente romantica del fenomeno - che i colori sono qualche cosa di vivo e di umano, e che trovano la loro completa giustificazione fenomenologia sia nella macchina fisica che è l’occhio umano e nel meccanismo della visione, ma anche e soprattutto nella spiritualità e nell’animo dell’osservatore.

Healing is the body’s response to injury in an attempt to restore normal structure and functions.
Healing can occur in two ways: Regeneration and Repair
There are 4 phases of wound healing: hemostasis, inflammation, proliferation, and remodeling. This document also describes the mechanism of wound healing. Factors that affect healing include infection, uncontrolled diabetes, poor nutrition, age, anemia, the presence of foreign bodies, etc.

Linear Measurements: Instruments used. Linear Measurement by Tape, Ranging out Survey Lines and overcoming Obstructions; Measurements on sloping ground; Tape corrections, conventional symbols. Angular Measurements: Instruments used; Introduction to Compass Surveying, Bearings and Longitude & Latitude of a Line, Introduction to total station.
Levelling: Instrument used Object of levelling, Methods of levelling in brief, and Contour maps.

Buildings: Selection of site for Buildings, Layout of Building Plan, Types of buildings, Plinth area, carpet area, floor space index, Introduction to building byelaws, concept of sun light & ventilation. Components of Buildings & their functions, Basic concept of R.C.C., Introduction to types of foundation
