Paid digital advertising spent $23 billion in 2015 and reached 5-10% of organic content reach, so brands should post less but smarter on social media. Bruce Martin of Ginger Juice gives a Twitter case study where £100 advertising budget delivered 217,000 impressions and 5,000+ engagements through designed, prize-incentivized, and targeted tweets. He recommends using Twitter cards to boost posts and shares.
Visitor Economy Innovation by James Berresford, CEO, VisitEnglandBruce Martin
This document discusses innovation in the visitor economy. It summarizes a LinkedIn debate on the topic that had over 500 responses and followers. Innovation is defined as the successful application of new knowledge or the process of exploiting new ideas to create value. The document discusses how innovation occurs in sectors like tourism through partnerships across industries. It also recognizes barriers to innovation for small tourism businesses and ways to support innovation through research, networks, mentoring, and knowledge transfer partnerships. Opportunities for tourism innovation include greater use of digital technologies and concepts like gamification, crowd-sourcing, big data, and geo-tagging. A full report on findings will be released in early 2014.

Traditional media and bureaucratic restrictions are no longer walls high enough to deprive our society of accountable governance through youth activism. Technology offers the youths with innovative and multi-faceted ways to:
1. Voice out their opinions on government policies and issues of concern to their target audience through multifaceted social media such as Facebook, Twitter, Blogs etc. Good examples would be the "Dumsor March" in 2015, "Bring back out Girls campaign", “The Occupy Ghana Campaign” and many others.
2. Test government efficacy by making all elements and information associated to governance and government decisions accessible to both the government and citizenry such as figures and technical related to public projects for example, the recent "bus branding saga" etc.
3. Facilitate accountable governance in data collection and record keeping through data management systems
4. Simplify and make all elements and information associated to governance and government decisions accessible to both the government and citizenry through interactive websites and mobile applications.
The document discusses how big data from sources like websites, social media, smartphones, and sensors can provide valuable information for the visitor economy. It gives examples of how social media photos on Flickr show popular areas in London and how sites have responded to changes. While big data will give more customer insights, interpreting and using the data properly requires skills, and privacy must be respected. New data sources will supplement but also evolve existing research methods.
The document discusses several case studies of companies using gamification tactics:
- Starbucks used a loyalty program called My Rewards that allowed customers to earn "stars" (represented by coffee cups) with each purchase to reach different levels with additional benefits. In 2012, 4.5 million users accounted for $3 billion in sales.
- Deloitte saw a 46.6% increase in daily and 36.3% increase in weekly returning users to its leadership training program after adding gamification with badges. One user achieved a badge meant to take 12 months in less time.
- Singapore Airlines used a Unity 3D simulation for cabin crew training with gamification elements.

Analysis of Digital Trends by Stefan Bardega, Media.comBruce Martin
This document discusses trends for digital growth, focusing on mobile, search, and data. It notes that 22% of people in the UK access the internet via mobile, but retention of apps is low, with only 4% still being used after 12 months. Mobile optimization could generate £24 million in revenue. Search is critical for travel planning but will evolve to provide more contextual answers and suggestions. Personal data from various digital touchpoints offers opportunities in partnerships, location-based services, and real-time responses.
Re-inventing Service Delivery by Kamalini Ramdas, London Business SchoolBruce Martin
This document contains slides from a presentation by Kamalini Ramdas on opportunity generation for new products and services. The presentation discusses challenging widely held beliefs about innovation, different models of innovation in services ranging from one-to-one to many-to-many interactions, and how combining dimensions can lead to innovations that improve quality and reduce costs. It emphasizes moving from free-form brainstorming to a single service concept and designing for people you love rather than unknown customers.

Spontaneous Bacterial Peritonitis - Pathogenesis , Clinical Features & Manage...Jim Jacob Roy
In this presentation , SBP ( spontaneous bacterial peritonitis ) , which is a common complication in patients with cirrhosis and ascites is described in detail.
The reference for this presentation is Sleisenger and Fordtran's Gastrointestinal and Liver Disease Textbook ( 11th edition ).
This presentation gives information on the pharmacology of Prostaglandins, Thromboxanes and Leukotrienes i.e. Eicosanoids. Eicosanoids are signaling molecules derived from polyunsaturated fatty acids like arachidonic acid. They are involved in complex control over inflammation, immunity, and the central nervous system. Eicosanoids are synthesized through the enzymatic oxidation of fatty acids by cyclooxygenase and lipoxygenase enzymes. They have short half-lives and act locally through autocrine and paracrine signaling.

Gene therapy can be broadly defined as the transfer of genetic material to cure a disease or at least to improve the clinical status of a patient.
One of the basic concepts of gene therapy is to transform viruses into genetic shuttles, which will deliver the gene of interest into the target cells.
Safe methods have been devised to do this, using several viral and non-viral vectors.
In the future, this technique may allow doctors to treat a disorder by inserting a gene into a patient's cells instead of using drugs or surgery.
The biggest hurdle faced by medical research in gene therapy is the availability of effective gene-carrying vectors that meet all of the following criteria:
Protection of transgene or genetic cargo from degradative action of systemic and endonucleases,
Delivery of genetic material to the target site, i.e., either cell cytoplasm or nucleus,
Low potential of triggering unwanted immune responses or genotoxicity,
Economical and feasible availability for patients .
Viruses are naturally evolved vehicles that efficiently transfer their genes into host cells.
Choice of viral vector is dependent on gene transfer efficiency, capacity to carry foreign genes, toxicity, stability, immune responses towards viral antigens and potential viral recombination.
There are a wide variety of vectors used to deliver DNA or oligo nucleotides into mammalian cells, either in vitro or in vivo.
The most common vector system based on retroviruses, adenoviruses, herpes simplex viruses, adeno associated viruses.

The development of nanogold-based cancer therapy could revolutionize oncology by providing a more targeted, less invasive treatment option. This project contributes to the growing body of research aimed at harnessing nanotechnology for medical applications, paving the way for future clinical trials and potential commercial applications.
Cancer remains one of the leading causes of death worldwide, prompting the need for innovative treatment methods. Nanotechnology offers promising new approaches, including the use of gold nanoparticles (nanogold) for targeted cancer therapy. Nanogold particles possess unique physical and chemical properties that make them suitable for drug delivery, imaging, and photothermal therapy.
