This rubric evaluates student assignments on gender roles in folklore. The assignment requires students to discuss gender roles portrayed in three folktales and whether these roles were representative of the culture and time period. It will be graded based on addressing gender roles and cultural connections, analyzing three stories and supporting conclusions, meeting the one-page length in MLA format, and writing mechanics. The rubric provides scoring criteria from novice to exemplary for each section.

This assignment focuses on gender roles characterized in fairy tales, folktales, myths and legends. Discuss the role gender has played with the characters found in
folklore using at least three stories to support your conclusions. First ask yourself how males and females are typically portrayed in folklore. Is this representative of
