This document tells the story of Herbert Wall's life. It describes his family including his parents who came to New Zealand for his schooling. Herbert met his future wife Ada in England during WWI and they married after the war. They returned to New Zealand and had three children but Ada died young, leaving the children orphaned. Herbert's life was shattered and he worked as a gold prospector and farmer to support his children after the death of his wife.
6. His Life
Herbert and his parents came
to New Zealand for him to do
his schooling. After Herbert
finished school they all went
back to England to help with
the war effort. In England
Herbert met his future wife Ada
Herricks. Herbert came back to
New Zealand to work in the NZ
wars forces. Then in 1918 after
the 1st world war he went back
to England and married Ada.
Then they both came to NZ to
live. They had three children,

My great nana Edna and two
brothers Ron and Laurence. Ada
died very young leaving her children
at 11,12 and 14 years of age. The
two brothers went to an orphanage
and Edna was looked after by the
Scott family at Otahu flat, Southland.
Herbert's life was shattered and he
became a gold prospecter and
farmer.
