Blood Pressure

Hypertension and hypotension have become common diseases of the modern lifestyle.
With a lot of change in the living style of people nowadays, many people suffer from low
blood pressure and high blood pressure problems. The fact that people of not only elder
age group, but also lesser age group suffer from blood pressure problems is even worse.

What is the normal blood pressure range of a human body?
120 mmHg is the systolic blood pressure range and 80mmHg is the diastolic pressure
range is considered normal.

How to detect blood pressure problem?
A regular check ‐ up of blood pressure from the doctor is the best way to figure out if
anyone in the family is suffering from the problem or not. A sphygmomanometer can be
used to check the blood pressure. Along with this, a stethoscope is used along.
What you need to know about low blood pressure?
When systolic blood pressure is lesser than 90mmHg and diastolic pressure is lesser than
60mmHg, the person is suffering from hypotension or low blood pressure.

When does a person suffer from low blood pressure ‐ causes
Dehydration  ‐  This  is  considered  as  one  of  the  common  causes  of  low  blood
pressure. Dehydration occurs when a person’s body loses more water than it has
taken in. A person can feel vomiting, nausea, dizziness and fatigue at that time.
Lifestyle change ‐ With the changing lifestyle nowadays, panic, tension, stress
etc. are common. All these can cause low bp.
Heart problems ‐ Some type of heart conditions cause low blood pressure such
as heart attack, low heart rate, valve problem in the heart and heart failure.

How to treat low blood pressure?
1. Low  blood  pressure  can  be  treated  by  taking  antibiotics  prescribed  by  the
physician.
2. Reduce  the  intake  of  alcoholic  beverages  and  increase  the  intake  of  non  ‐
alcoholic beverages.
3. Salt intake should be increased.
4. Prolonged exposure under the sun and hot showers should be reduced.
5. Avoid taking large gap between meals. Eating at frequent intervals is better to
avoid blood pressure to drop.
What you need to know high blood pressure?
Range: When the systolic pressure is higher than 140mmHg and the diastolic pressure is
higher than 90mmHg, this causes high blood pressure.
Why does a person suffer from high blood pressure?
There are many reasons for high blood pressure. Some of the common are listed below:
1) Increased intake of smoke and alcoholic beverages
2) High levels of stress and tension
3) Family history of high blood pressure
4) Lack of physical activity such as jogging, brisk walk etc.
5) High intake of salt in the diet
6) Thyroid disorders

Treatment of high blood pressure
Here is what people suffering from hypertension can do to reduce pressure
Increasing physical activity, jogging, cycling, brisk walking
Performing yoga
Intake of healthy and nutritious diet
Cutting down on alcohol and smoking
Losing weight

Blood pressure disorders if untreated at right time can lead to further disorders such as
heart diseases, obesity etc. Hence, you should go for regular screening of blood pressure.
