A 500-bed teaching hospital was built in Elm Park including new facilities such as operating theatres, radiotherapy, MRI, CT scanning, intensive care units, accident and emergency departments, inpatient and outpatient wards, a pharmacy, mortuary, and parking. JV Tierney Ltd managed the €28 million mechanical, electrical, and plumbing design and project management packages from concept through tendering and evaluation. Their responsibilities included design calculations, drawings, specifications, monitoring construction, coordinating between disciplines, ensuring quality, and delivering the project on budget.
